Considering famed director Peter Jackson was on board, we knew it would be fantastic, but now it’s time to dig deep into the newly-released "sneak peek" and see if it will meet diehard fans’ expectations.
After you finish this one, make sure to check out my deep dive into why The Beatles chose the rooftop of the Apple building for their final performance: • The Beatles and The Ro...

Paul and John performing "Two Of Us" through gritted teeth is the best piece of footage I've ever seen.
i guess it is kinda off topic but do anybody know a good site to stream new series online ?
@@melvinjackson4096 it’s available today on Disney plus, it literally just premiered today. Wasn’t available until now.
It's a small thing but I thought the quick cut of Linda and Yoko sharing a laugh was very cool. Hope it makes the final cut.
Yeah - me too. I was thrilled to see that bit.
@@Fuzcapp Me too... it kind of belies the narrative that Yoko was lacking in any humour or friendliness and just clung to John the whole time... and that she and Linda never get on, at all.
I love the comedy and one-liners in the trailer - "Don't interrupt stars when they're recording -we're bloody stars y'know."
Absolutely hilarious.
Hey Old Folks!! I'm only 80 years young. And still rocking, mainly in my rocking chair. Hi from Australia 😎🎶🎵🎶🎵
They should release the whole 56 hours footage. It’s nice to see a film but actually watching everything is more exciting.
That will test a hardcore Beatle fan if he can stand watching it.
Release it in parts
I’d watch it. However, I’m sure there’s plenty of stuff that The Beatles would understandably never want to see the light of day...John and George allegedly got into a fistfight on the 7th day of rehearsals after which George temporarily quit, Paul opened up about being in a bad mood due to dealing with an “itchy dick” for months. John was on heroin at the time. George called Yoko a “cunt” after she ate something he wanted (although that may have been the Abbey Road sessions?) etc...plus there’s tons of footage where the band just sounded bad while they worked out kinks and worked off rust.
There wouldn’t be any flow, maybe way later when there isn’t anything new to drop, i’m a beatles fan but I wouldn’t sit to watch 2-3 hours of raw footage in 1 sitting
Yes
I just want to see the whole Rooftop concert.
On vinyl 👍
@@beatmet2355 That's would be great 😊
Oh man just IMAGINE if they sneak that into the end of the film and keep it a secret to everyone
Yes. With restored audio & video.
@@PatrickChannonInPost You're gonna see a lot of irate fans if they DON'T put the rooftop concert in the new film. I will be one of them.
Me an a Mate were in the Street below ,, Iv got a Feeling was very loud and Brilliant,, I got a Pain in the neck looking up ,, I was 18-19 years old..
In the words of the classics ... YOU LUCKY BASTARD!
That’s so cool. Were you in the film at all?

I want the whole 55 hours to be release. And this will test a hardcore Beatles fan to watch the whole 55 hours non stop. Crazy!
🙌🙌🙌 Same!
I'd like to have both: a curated version of the material (could be a 4 h cinema movie or a shorter movie and a "directors cut" on DVD/BluRay) for watching and enyoing and a catalog with the whole material for digging.
At least I'm hoping Peter Jackson is not doing to much cuts (like the Beatles are recording one take of the song and the film shows only part of it). Never cut songs! That's terrible.
I'd glue my eye lids to my forehead with sticky tape to see that!
Same. I would and could ABSOLUTELY watch all 56hrs straight
The guys humour always shines through no matter what...
If Get Back is put in 4k, just imagine what that means for Help! and MMT being restored to 4k as well. I believe that they were all shot on the same film.
There's probably some benefit to restoring it in 4K but none in releasing it that way. 16mm film really isn't high-resolution enough to support it. It's a matter of diminishing returns. By the time you hit 2K, you've pulled out about 99.9% of the detail from 16mm film.
@@MichaelPhillipsatGreyOwlStudio i am wondering is there a particular reason that 35mm film was not used for all their films?
@@squiddywiddy0762 Just smaller cameras and resultingly smaller crews. D.A. Pennebaker had set a precedent for shooting concert material in 16mm with Monterey Pop. Shooting with 35mm requires huge cameras and a correspondingly larger crew with less maneuverability. What they needed was mobility so that they could respond adeptly to the action as it changed rather than lengthy setups.
@@MichaelPhillipsatGreyOwlStudio they also shot it in 16mm because it was supposed to be a tv special rather than a movie
I’m sure they used different tape. They were the biggest band in the world.
They should put out the whole 56 hours of footage on Blu-ray. We will all buy it!
The footage and the Beatles are in safe hands with Peter Jackson. Looking forward to the film and hoping for lots of extras when they release it on Blu-Ray.
Glad you decided to "Get Back." Sorry. I couldn't resist. 😊 Its good to see you back and look forward to your new videos. I hope you and yours are well.
Haha... I knew someone would say it! Thanks Brian.
Finally a return
I graduated from high school in 69. Thanks for reminding me of my mortality.

I am STOKED to see this film. Looking at the preview it looks nothing short of amazing. Can’t wait. I’m all for it. This looks like a lot of fun!!!
You are doing a fine public service, please keep it coming, great to see your enthusiasm I and many others feel the same, anything 'Beatles' is just so happy and feelgood stuff, I always find myself smiling when watching the boys.
Should be an amazing movie. Heck with streaming. I hope we see this in theaters this summer! A 4K disc release has to happen!
I would have thought it impossible in my lifetime to have an official release of Let It Be after 1981, let alone a project of this magnitude. I think the wait is well worth it.
Those eight months are gonna feel like eight years now we’ve seen the teaser.

Wow! Thanks so very much for tying all the Get Back announcement video and previous video footage together so well. I was absolutely giddy when I got the notification from RUclips about the Peter Jackson sneak peek and thrilled to bits upon watching it. It really took me back to the early days of waiting for an album to be released to record shops and rushing down to buy 'Yesterday... and Today' and other LPs. It was almost as good as the Christmas I got Beatles '65 as a gift (my brother and sisters each got Something New, Something New and The Beatles Story and the Hard Day's Night soundtrack LPs. I always enjoy your videos because you are a excellent journalist and always provide a thorough comparison and analysis of available sources to help our understanding of the phenomenon that was The Beatles. Rock On and take care of yourself and your family.
p.s. Nice job on the beard, Lance.
Agreed on all counts! The sneak peek was just the coolest surprise. Unexpected and lengthy.
As always, thanks for the kind words and your support. Means more than you know, Russell. (Glad you dig the beard - the wife doesn't care much for it! LOL)
I got Beatles ‘65 as a Christmas gift too when I was a kid! Best present I ever got! 😁
Thanks for your perspective on this. Truly stoked to see this. Also, thanks for letting us know you're okay and that your still up for more vids - really good stuff!
Yes you're FINALLY back making vids again! Cant wait for the film!!
Good to see you pop up here again! It's good to be back in the saddle!
Brilliant as always- great to see you again- I enjoyed this a lot!
Thanks Brian!
Thank you! I loved the section on the footage quality and resolution! Very cool! ...Big Fan....!
We've missed you, great to see you back!
Hey, thanks Sander!
Now after watching the clip, now I can hear John slapping the strings on the start of Get Back
Thank you so much for this post. I agree with you about the rooftop footage and cant wait to see the final project.
Welcome back! I'll be here to watch your next project for sure.
Hey Felipe! Thanks!
Great analysis. Looking forward to your next videos.
Good to see you, F4A -- Happy New Year and thanks for the vid!
Hey Buzzcut! Thanks for chiming in. See ya round!
Look to 2:28...that pic of Ringo's fingers is most famous and has always baffled me! How many fingers does he have and how did he bend them into that position!!!!!!
Hey, it's great to know you and your family are okay. You've been missed a lot. And your update in the Beatles world is as complete as usual. Can't wait for that film and more content from your channel. Thumbs up.
Thanks Alejandro! Good to hear from you, too!
Great work, as always! 😎
Thanks Perry! Good to see you again!
I'm thinking Paul's "f**k-face" remark at Glyn Johns was probably just edited for the preview. It's most likely going to be included in the film.
It will bring back so many memories
I can’t wait for this. I’m living for this.
All i can say is "dont let me down"
Yayyyy you returned!
Thanks for watching, Danny!
OMG YOU ARE BACK! 🙏👏
Hey man! Glad to see ya here!

I want a "Yoko NoNo" feature.
If you select it she is turned in to a potted plant, guitar or something else that blends in with the scene.

Well, they are your host for this evening!
Thank you for another informative video about the film. I cannot wait. I am one if the old-timers that hope the don’t delay it. Stay safe!
Joe! Good to see you on here again. At this point I'm becoming one of the old-timers myself! Definitely ready for September's premiere.

Appreciate that, Jeff.

Awesome! Happy early birthday.
I've already been impressed by the released footage.
This highly expected release will be a family affair! We can’t wait!!! Especially for us musicians within the family!
By far the best Beatles channel on RUclips after the original.
one of my new favourite channels
Just noticed (at 4.46) the anvil which they later used for 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer'!
I'm currently re-listening to the Get Back Sessions and there are very few arguments even during Twickenham. Mostly Paul trying to explain to George how to build a song with frustration following. I'm guessing all their sessions had similar vibes. There are tons of jamming out and bits of old songs they slip into. Great fun. Can't wait to see all 56 hours!
LET IT BE was intended to be a warts-&-all look at the Beatles making an album, but was somehow edited into a "just warts" version. Jackson, McCartney, and Starr have *all* stated that this will be a more accurate representation of the entire experience, and I'd be satisfied with that, rather than the video-suicide note that LET IT BE came across as. Almost anything Jackson accomplishes will make a better "love letter" to the Lads, and all I ask is... LET IT BE honest.
The 42 minutes of The Rooftop Concert in bluray FHD-HD Audio in DTS 5.1 and Dolby Atmos as part of The Get Back Deluxe set. That's for sure.
The Thumbnail made me LOL..😂🤣🤣
Glad someone besides me got a kick out of it - I spent way too much time on it! 🤪
Great to see you turn up in my notifications again!
Aww, thanks! I'll try not to disappear again!
Thank You!
Rooftop definitely should be in I can't wait to actually see it.
Thank you!!
I just discovered your channel. Being a man of a "certain age" your videos and stories brought much joy and certainly a ton of information that I did not know. I am an avid fan of the Fab Four. They inspired me to learn guitar and form a band in high school.
I also wanted to compliment you on you hosting skills. You are a true professional broadcaster and I look forward to watching what ever you produce going forward.
Thanks for the smooth delivery and the clear and unbiased facts.

oml when you said “I hope the fans don’t die before it’s released” I actually didn’t know what you meant I forgot most their fans are old lol me and all my friends are big Beatles fans and we’re all teenagers but yesh hopefully all the og fans don’t die ;-;
I heard the full Hollywood Bowl concerts long before they released the chopped up compilation (of the 3 concerts) on the 1977 LP. And then a few years ago on CD. 56&57 years later still waiting. The 10 minute full length Revolution 1 and Sour Milk Sea finally came out on the White Album 50th. And still waiting for the 8 minute It's All Too Much. Many more unreleased songs. Yeah, at best I probably have about 25 years left. The concerts weren't...well...perfect, so they didn't like them and didn't want them officially released. Others, everybody involved has to agree to their release, and they don't always see eye to eye. Maybe you'll get to hear them all before you die.
@Sam I am. Thanks for that. But it's great to know that Beatles fans span generations. Keep the flame going once we're gone!
Hi I'm 80 years young, and still rocking, mainly in my rocking chair. Hi from Australia 😎🎶🎵🎶
Hi Beatles Archivist! Looks like We can expect 6 hours of wonderful new footage on Disney+ ✨Happy days!
I’m really excited, can’t wait. It would be awesome if we could have the whole rooftop concert, it’d be like going to the actual concert, which we will never get to do because obviously 2 of the Beatles are dead. It’ll bring them back to life and hopefully get more people into the Beatles too!
I can wait for it.
Only just seen this! Sorry I missed it!
Cannot wait
Give me the entire rooftop or give me death!!!
It’ll be the latter if they hold this up much longer 😩
The director says what they accomplish in 7 yrs. I have a anthology of Let it be, called 30 days that's writing rehearsal and Recording and live Rooftop concert. All which was done the Month of January,. and with George leaving for a few days, just Amazing.
I can't wait...!
1:23 Important new questions that must be answered:
- Is poor George M starting to feel the Beatles are talking to each other behind his back?
- Is Yoko carrying out an experimental art project to see exactly how close to another person you can sit without actually sitting IN them?
Any more suggestions?
If the bobbies didn’t shut them down early, what other songs was on the list to be played or did they play all of it? Always wondered. 🧐🤔
The police didn't really halt a concert. The Beatles schedule was to shoot five songs on the roof. As you can see below, they repeated the songs they wanted footage of. The set list was: Get Back Take 1, Get Back Take 2, Don't Let Me Down, I've Got a Feeling, One After 909, I Dig a Pony, I've Got a Feeling Take 2, Don't Let Me Down Take 2 and Get Back Take 3. They had shot their wad when the police showed up, but despite the police, they finished Get Back 3 without interference and left the roof. The movie was edited to make it seem a little more urgent than it really was. Those five songs was it!
@@erestube I read an interesting account somewhere - can't recall if it was a YT comment or elsewhere - from someone who said she was (IIRC) the daughter of the officer in charge of the police that were sent in to investigate the noise complaints - or was it lack of a public performance licence? - re the concert and see to getting it stopped...
Turns out this officer was actually a massive Beatles fan. His story was that that he'd never in all his career managed to run up a set of stairs as s---l---o---w---l---y as he did that day, to carry out his duty to halt proceedings...
If true, this may be the real reason the Beatles were able to complete their rooftop set/filming while still getting all that enjoyable footage of apparently bumbling cops unsuccessfully breaking up the fun!
I'm glad this will show the true friendship among the Lads.
I'm going to see the movie and I'll be buying the companion book.
They Will never let Beatles vanish away....
Why should we want to? Beatles Forever !
Just great stuff.
I think Peter Jackson has so many Beatles replica instruments because he'd be using them to compare/color grade for the movie
Having been through Peters ''Park Road Post'' production facilities in Miramar Wellington New Zealand twice, I can assure you the finnished product will be amazing.
Nice! You in the industry?
So amazing to turn my son to the best band of all time. Even listening for hours while he bangs them out on guitar. I can't wait to see it with him.
Yes! Sharing this music with my kids has been a blast for me, too. (But mine are a little tired of having to watch my vids. lol)
I did it too. They give me Beatles stuff every xmas and Birthdays. They know what I like lol. They aren't real fans though as I may have overdone it.
I think we'll find that the beatles did indeed spend time hamming it up in January '69 but perhaps the undercurrent was not as happy....still it will be fabulous to see it
thank you...
I would really like to the whole of the restored 'Shea Stadium' footage which they showed us in the theatre after the end of the 'Eight Days A Week' film - the Shea stuff was inspirational - on three or four occasions while watching that I almost jumped up from my seat and started applauding and screaming because I forgot I was in a movie theatre.
Yeah, it's a shame it wasn't released on the blu-ray.
The only thing I really hope for is, that there is footage of them playing songs we never heard them play live before. Mainly Abbey Road tracks like I Want You (She's So Heavy). Probably not, but I keep my fingers crossed.
Do we know if Jo-Jo ever found some California Grass?
Corporations8MyBaby ....he had a problem.....he thought he was a woman........
Yeah, but she was another man.
HA ! Love it ! One of their greatest !!
No but I’m sure Paul probably did. Lol.
@@MsAppassionata then he misplaced it... then found it again... then misplaced it... over and over until Japan.
I wish they had given updates as well about the 50th anniversary mixes of the Let It Be album.
Being released over 3 days on Disney+ starting Nov 25 2021
The scenes of the montage are edited down, of course, they have to be. I hope the actual movie won’t be too much, though. Paul’s “fuckface” may not be the most necessary thing to include, but it does show the grittier side of the band. :-)
A shame it won't see a release (even limited) to theaters....🚬😎
HE’S BACK!
What's up Angel?!
This film already sounds like the Let it Be that we all wanted in 1970. It’s the culmination of fighting that started in 1965 with Rubber Soul. According to two sources John and Paul were going at it in the mid-period. Billy Preston’s presence cooled things down but not enough. I think George felt that Billy in the room was an answer to Paul’s bossiness and John’s lack of focus, plus he put the Beatles in a more bluesy state. Anyway, the dynamic I also see is appeasement of John-they’re trying to engage him musically and using old rock numbers to picque his interest, kind of like showing your wife photos of happier times right before she walks out.
Any possibility Jackson can use CGI, special effects, wolves bane, garlic, holy water, etc. to edit out Yoko?
I would pay extra for the "Yoko, No No" feature.
Use CGI to turn her in to an ash try or something useful.
Thanks for the post! Did you say it'll be in theatre's Aug or Sept?
August 27.
I hope the release is in Dolby Atmos. Even though I don't have such a system , today.

The new scenes seem to dispel years of stories and rumors about the tension and acrimony between. The love between them and sense of fun really comes through.
Getting along for 3 minutes out of 56 hours proves nothing.
@@1978garfield it does actually. It proves it wasn't miserable all the time. Also there is hours more of footage of them being playful and not arguing so there you go.
Too much noise reduction. The first rule of using video filters is: If you think you have it right., back it off a touch.
I wanna GET BACK to where I once belonged....at one of their sessions at Abbey Road studio in "69 pleading with them "boys, please..don't do it!! We need ya, the world needs ya!!"
I saw some people compare this restored footage and the Beatles 1+ project. The Beatles 1+ project had better color correcting and quality compared to the sneak peak.
