@@93Crusher you're right Dewalt makes a solid product, but the Laguna is at a whole other level.
Did you coat your steel top with Paste wax?
The day I got mine I didn't have any and left to pick some up, when I returned, there was rust forming on the surface. . .
I grabbed some W D 40 and 400 gritty sandpaper and cleaned it, then put a generous coat of Paste wax. Rookie mistake. . .

@@TheMcKeelsWoodworks yeah I had to search 4 different stores to find some. That's amazing how quick that rusted. Is it humid where you live? Or is it just that easy to rust these tops haha

@@93Crusher it's both. We live in Southern Kentucky and it's very humid. But the day I unboxed, the weather went from 20 degrees to 55 degrees in 4 hours. . .
Very interesting weather that day. My shop is insulated, but not temperature controlled.

You made a great choice in table saws I've had mine about 7 months and love it I used a dial indicator to set 📐 up the blade and fence I encourage you to do the same if you haven't already you will be amazed how much better it performs. Like your videos as well keep them coming..

I received my Fusion F1 a week ago today, and like another commenter, found it to be a huge upgrade over my Dewalt DW745. If you happen to purchase/install the Laguna mobility kit, you may want to make some kind of cross-brace between the wheel housings. As they bolt directly (and independently) to a sheet metal panel, I found that mine flexed a bit as I pushed the saw forward, which caused the saw to wobble quite a bit more than I was comfortable with. Made a tight-fitting brace out of 3/4" plywood, and it's rolling smooth now.

Glad to hear your problem was solved. Personally, I can't recall having any shifting of the saw when I moved it into position. But in the rare situation when I move my saw, I'll keep an eye on the issue you've addressed.
      Thank you!
Other than the wheels, what are some other pros and cons you have found with the saw?

    • @animefan73
      @animefan73 3 года назад

Sadly, I don't have the space to leave my saw in a working position while not in use, so I likely find myself wheeling it around quite a bit more than the average owner. That said, it took all of 20-30 mins to fix the problem with the wheels, so in my eyes it wasn't a big deal.
Pros thus far, at least coming from a jobsite saw, would be the substantially increased table size, (and distance from the table front to blade) genuinely decent dust collection, (picked up a 1hp ShopFox single-stage dust collector - have yet to try the added dust collection on the blade guard, but I'm sure that will be nice for working on sheet goods) significantly improved fence system, and quite frankly, the quality of fit and finish over a standard jobsite saw. I legitimately found myself giggling at how smoothly raising/lowering the saw blade went the first few times I used the saw.
As for cons, I do have the stamped steel wings, as opposed to the cast iron wings on the F2, but I was able to level them out fairly easily. Beyond this, the only other negative things I can say thus far are that the factory blade produced a lousy cut, (also, included literature says it should be a 60T blade, but it is most assuredly a generic 40T blade) and having to wait for 1.5 months for the saw to ship. (ordered before Christmas) The waiting part certainly isn't a complaint, as I understand manufacturers have had increased demand with significant lead time on production due to Covid, I was just antsy to get the saw up and running. As for the blade, I knew going into this that I'd be buying a couple quality blades, so it's merely an inconvenience that the factory blade wasn't up to par.

@@animefan73 I agree with your pros and cons. Would like to add, I ran some tests with the saw and found that the dust collection is decent.
The upper hood makes a huge difference when making cuts. The chips still fly back at you, but almost all of the the fine dust that fills the air, is collected by that little hose.
I would suggest trying it out! One con about the dust collection that I have found is that the lower bin, fills with chips. Not sure how to fix this, but I know my suction is not the issue. Have you experienced the same issue with chips falling past the dust collection inside the saw body and collecting in the bottom?
I agree with your con: I need to replace my blade, do you have any suggestions? I have a wide range of material cuts, anything from hard oak, to 1/2 plywood. I am hoping to find something that can do both. But would be willing to buy two blades.

Definitely looking forward to trying the overhead dust collection! Do you have any kind of ancillary filtration in your shop? I have a hanging air filter from WEN, seems to do a decent job picking up some of the dust. (at 400CFM, I certainly don't expect it to fully filter/evacuate a 2 car garage, but it fit the budget at the time) As for the cabinet filling with dust/chips, I did have quite a few piled up when I ran the saw without any form of dust collector attached, but I've only run a couple test cuts since getting the dust collector - I'll keep an eye out, and report back once I've spent some quality time on the saw!
I picked up a Freud Industrial LM72M010 (24T FTG rip blade) and thus far have been quite impressed - the finish left by the blade is absolutely glue-ready, and the swirls from the individual carbide teeth are barely detectable. As for sheet goods and crosscuts, I've yet to pick up a quality 60T or 80T blade - I've heard great things about Ridge Carbide and CMT, but if my experiences with the Freud Diablo thin-kerf blades on my jobsite saw are anything to go by, I'm tempted to say that one of their full-kerf 60T blades might be up to the task as well. (perhaps either the LU73M010 or LU85M010)
As tempting as it may be to go for a single combo-blade, I personally tend to favor having two purpose-built blades. (jack of all trades argument) the 24T rip blade I selected has a FTG (flat tooth grind) and thus would be suitable for some joinery work like rabbets, tenons, and even spline cuts. A 50T combo blade will typically have 40 ATB teeth (alternating tooth bevel) and 10 "raker" teeth with a FTG - although better than a straight ATB blade in some respects, the points of the ATB teeth will still protrude just a hair past the reach of the FTG teeth on it. At the end of the day, it's all up to what best suits your needs within your budget - no harm in picking up a combo blade now, and upgrading to a couple dedicated rip/crosscut blades down the road! In either case, I think you'll be much happier with the results over the factory blade. (and I apologize if I've over-simplified my response - wanted to make sure anyone else who might be learning could get some benefit from these comments as well)

Hi there, I am in the market for a new saw and looking at the Laguna F2. I watched a few videos about them fence, and I am really concerned about the fence, there is no support on the other end of the fence, how much play is there, especially if you are cutting large boards the inaccuracy will exacerbate the problem. Whats your opinion.

Thank you for subscribing and supporting our RUclips channel.
Actually, this Wednesday we are releasing a 12+ month review of our Fusion 2 table saw. I highlight my 3 pros and 3 cons. I can tell you that out of all my shop equipment, the Laguna has given me minimal issues. My only issues are for the most part related to dust collection, but outside of that I have very little to say that is negative, the power lacks when you get into thicker harder woods, but if you make multiple passes on 2" wood you're going to be fine.
I can tell you I have had zero issues with my fence and I have pushed 12' white oak through the saw. Granted I have a jointer, so the lumber is dressed going into the saw. I have had very good and consistent results with this saw.
Keep an eye on our channel, I believe the video coming out this Wednesday will be a great one for you as you make your decision.
If you have more questions, please let us know! Also, let us know what tool you end up choosing!

I will give a detailed video regarding the saw and it's pros and cons. But I can say this, I am impressed with how easy it was to set up and start making strait cuts.
Though the motor is under 2 hp, it is as smooth as butter when the saw starts and stops.
Dust collection is a 3 out of 5. Mainly because saw dust falls down into the enclosed cabinet, making it difficult to vacuum out, but the overhead dust hose works well for fine dust.
Check out our second video where we show the installation process. We will be posting a follow-up video based on performance soon!
