Germany lost approximately 32% of its F-104; Belgium, 41%; Italy, 37%; Canada, 46%; China Air Force (Taiwan), 37%. The Starfighter killed more pilots than the enemy.
The reason germany lost so many were because they wanted a different version of the 104 that wasent tested properly and it was generaly badly maintenanced, and tbh it dident really see to much action so its only natural that it killd more pilots than enemys, its sad that id has such a bad rep its suck a unique aircraft
@@master_shifu4208 Then you would have to deal with the fact that the Republic of China was at war with Communist China and have scored victory with F-104s. Also we used the Starfighter strictly in a fighter role, never as a "bomber" - an excuse people often give for its failure.
Touch down speed is 170 so approach is about right at 220 + or - depending on the load. I looked it up real deal. (Fly final approach at 170 kts + 5 kts per 1,000 lbs fuel over 1,000 lbs. Note: Do not reduce power to less than 82% until touchdown, as the stall speed will ...)
If he was carrying external tanks with a full load of fuel that might increase into the 200 knots realm. However since his aircraft was bare without any external loads I’m going to argue his approach speed was in fact just a little under 200. And that’s really just to be on the safe side. Theoretically you can land the plane (empty) with an initial approach speed of 170. However that’s not practical. Your usually going to come in a little hotter than you need to be to control the rate of decent and decrease throttle as necessary. It’s better to come in too fast rather than too slow. Especially when you have no lift with those chicken wings.
Yeah everything’s good except the sound and they need to work on their texturing a little bit. Interior mostly. And why can’t they integrate all of their external software into a tablet….. like everyone else. And they need to update the fiat g91. Sim skunk works is good sometimes but then they just piss me off with missing some of the simple things.

Thanks for sharing, and you´re time and effort (Command: OM) on other cool topics! I hope they also port the Panavia PA 200 Tornado, that´s my fav of all time. anyone have any tips? when i turn all the way, nothing happens, but only halfway it starts to turn. cant do barrel rolls or anything, other aircraft it isnt a problem. is it a trim setting i need to fix? aircraft simply isnt that menouverable for me.
The pilots procedure for getting out of a stall was fairly straight forward. Eject. You covered the specific issues the 104 has during landing but another big killer which I didn't see you having was takeoff. If you pitch upwards to much "forget the number" but not much, the long fuselage blocks the airflow over the tail causing a very quick snap roll and unrecoverable.
The model looks very low res and has almost nothing in terms of systems depth... sigh.... your upbeat attitude saves the truth from shining through here... sounds are pretty bad, textures crappy, systems not there.
Thanks for all the videos you make! Started my flight training after watching your videos and just did my first solo today!
Congratulations!
Hell yeah man! Congrats!!!
Congrats!
After this flight on front seat remember you have also on camera options the possibility to jump on the backseat that is fully functional..

Great points! A very iconic plane, but wasn't called the flying coffin for nothing, people can fanboy all they like.
How do you open the refueling menu
Someone in NY is going to have a tip tank crash through their roof. 😆
cant listen to the sound when you blabber trough it all the time LMAO

yep way too slow. Almost bought it but im gonna wait after watching this.

Does anybody know how to open that menu where you activate the tip tanks and how to start up?
(White looking paper that he used to put the tanks on)
The ‘Widowmaker’ - not the best of safety records.
That was because some countries used it wrong, it was an interceptor, not ground attack plane.

I would love it so much to get this thing in DCS one day.

the radar works, he was just too high up to see the ground.
It's good enough, getting good fps, my favorite plane in the sim already! Radar is perfect.
