I like to ask this of incredibly fake people
I love that this takes the beautiful moments of friendship, love and comradeship that made 'The Terror' so heart breaking. The difference between surviving and living is vast. Hickey offers 'survival' in it's most brutal, base sense, but not living. The love that the crew and Lady Silence show each other is true living, moments when they are actually alive rather than just surviving.
The best way i've heard that phrased!
Okay don't mind me ranting, but this video highlights what I love about the Terror. At the end of the day, this isn't about how these men died and the horrible things they went through, but the good they experienced and what they did to survive. The kindness and hope they showed, even when kindness and hope was hard to come by. I think people forget the Terror isn't really suppose to be a sad show, but rather to show that humans are inherently good, even when everything goes to shit. So yeah, thanks I'm crying over this on Christmas day.
The kindness they showed towards each other was what really made this show worthwhile.

Don't know why crozier got you in the feels cuz in the story and tv show he lives....are you sad because he chooses to live with the native people or something? Or did you not actually finish the show?
Jacob O'Sullivan Well I finished the show obviously I never mentioned Crozier. But I agree with you Fitzjames had the best character arch in the show I just felt Tozer was misunderstood to some degree. He was manipulated by Hickey and in the end before he died realized he was wrong for being a follower..

If I watch this incredibly well-made video, I can imagine:
-the Franklin expedition meeting Inuit who help them hunt seal
- Hickey getting hanged
- Blanky still discovering the NW Passage by himself (because it's Blanky!)
-Less deaths, but Fitzjames still dies in a massive tearjerker scene to inspire Crozier, Goodsir, Blanky and the rest to make it to Backfish River.
Dammit, I really want this to have been how it ended... ;n;

Wow, I'd never expect anyone to be able to make a happy video with this show! I love this so much, the voice overs work really well. I love seeing edits with The Terror, it's so underrated.
I'm particularly happy you thought the dialogue clips I chose work well where they are, omg (I was worried they were too spread-out or choppy or the volume levels were jarring and whatnot), and I'm also just happy that you were pleasantly surprised in general! It did take some doing and some combing through for all the parts where they sMiLE, gOsHdaMmIt, but like. I Had To Try! Especially since, yeah, there should be be so much more Terror content in the world. So much moar.

I only know of The Terror through my spouse who has read the book and seen the show, and this is how I showed them the power of fanvids. Because it's about the bittersweet combination of exploration and morality and survival, and you did a lovely thing showing how they coexist.

So much feelings... This show was amazing. Suspance, love, desperation, hope, psychology, "horror" that's not a proper definition, it's much, much more.
I think it's my favourite show so far, today. It would have been perfect if they had made more seasons, maybe describing more and slower those days.
Just because I truly miss it now, not beacuse it was less than well made!

this edit makes me feral like almost no other work of art has done this is a MASTERPIECE
the "we do what we have to do [to stay alive]" - "does this really work on anyone, mr. hickey?" encapsulates hickey and goodsir better than anything else ever will and its insane.
also when the dialogue and the song coincide for a second when hickey says "lies"?
i was speechless its so perfect.

(realtalk tho, this works so well, in a world gone shallow and a world gone mean, /they still find ways to be good/ im verklempt)
(like yes I was a little facetious about the decontextualizing but that's not the point! they still were good and they still tried and there was still love and moments of kindness at the end of the world at the end of hope, they had each other and I'm such a sap I love this????)

This show is definitely binge worthy - I'm a man and I love westerns, war movies, solo adventure movies (think The Revenant or Into the Wild) - this show, even though it's not fact based, is something I could not stop watching !

He may not have achieved the accolades of his famous Father but Jared Harris has proved himself to be a wonderful and endearing actor. It would be hard to say who had the best performance in this masterful series but he was certainly amonst them.

This is beautiful made but that not how The Terror actually is. It ist actually a hardcore thriller with horror elements and it shows what terrible things humans are able to do when they are desperate. It a fkn psycho thrill ride and I enjoyed it very much

I've never say right with me what this book and show did to Mr. Hickey....the show was much better in it's twist but still the name has been drug thru the mud for some many years all because he carved his name in to a fucking medical scalpel found at the mouth of backs fish river where he more then likely starved and froze with upwards of more then 20 of his shipmates
Edit: I know it was unkind to Franklin and at times Fitzjames as well, hell even Crozier to a degree but those are all men who have biographies and statues so those men have much to remember them by but Hickey only has this...
