I have loved this song since I first heard it about a year and half ago.. The sound and camera work (just the overall performance quality) here is just SUPERB..🎶❣👍 Thanks always Maddi
In a way, it breaks my heart to see so few views of such a wonder. In the dark clouds of today's popular music, occasionally a bright sunbeam like this breaks through and reassures that melody, harmony, and talent are but hidden in the mist.
Indeed, it's not often I find a song like this one that grabs my attention both musically and lyrically. Have you found any other gems like this one that you would recommend?
@@GGs-c1u Andrew Bird is another light in the dark for me, exquisite writer, violinist, and observer of the times. His album My Finest Work Yet is a great place to start. He and Madison collab quite a bit.
I'm glad she's so young and talented. Her music is timeless and so well constructed. She has time for her future listeners to catch up. Her catalogue is already impeccable.
I'm 71 and grew up with great music from brilliant writers, players and singers from the 60's and 70's and a few in the 80's. Then things took a turn and music just became less inspired and less, well, musical. But every now and then, a glimmer of light shines through the gray sameness and a brilliant star emerges. Thoughtful lyrics, a beautiful voice, and musicianship that is truly remarkable. I'm reminded of Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor, and Crosby, Stills and Nash. Madison is clearly in the same league as them, and I'm so happy to have found her to renew my faith in this generation of artists. She's a treasure, and I wish more people knew about her and could be as inspired by her music as I am.
I’ve determined that you are a modern incarnation of Joni Mitchell in that, through your writing, playing, and vocals, you’ve created something wholly unique. 🔥
I heard madison cunningham open for hozier last november, and I remember being absolutely floored by her beautiful voice!! she was absolutely enchanting. ive been obsessed with her music ever since!!
The most accomplished, sophisticated musical artist I am aware of currently writing/playing...I am musically polyamourous, flitting from flower to flower in fickle fashion, but since I first heard Madi a year ago I listen to something of hers almost every day. Captivating!
Ugh this is beautiful. The guitar feels so nostalgic, like I’ve heard this before. It brings back warm memories that I had forgotten about. Thanks Madison, keep being awesome!
I saw live in Asheville, NC a few nights ago. She was absolutely amazing live with a hella tight touring band! Her voice here reminds me of Harriet Wheeler, lead singer of English rock band, The Sundays.
THIS, was fantastic! I just found out about you watching Lake Street Dive. You were introduced on stage with them and as a fellow female acoustic guitarist, I just KNEW that you were someone to watch. I searched your name, chose the very first song that I spotted (Broken Harvest) and eureka! My kind of music. I’m going back to listen to more now, but had to take pause to thank you.
Just saw your Vancouver show opening for Bahamas. Impressed with your guitar playing, words and vocal delivery. My daughter and I were both knocked out. So much power and yet with great control. Wonderful!!
These lyrics are so deep. The anthem of so many starving artists out there who refuse to do anything but what they want to even if it causes them to suffer
I first heard you with The Porter's Gate. I am discovering more of your music now. Excellent. You are an excellent guitar player, and an exacting gripping singer. This........ is a beautiful peace of music. Thank you for it.
I am completely in love with you Madison!. Not since Joni Mitchell have we seen and heard suck beautiful and honest performances . You are a great talent and voyage beyond all sense and time of what we call music today. Incredible!!!
Her lyrics and guitar playing are fantastic, I’m inspired by her as an aspiring musician, and I joked she’s my cousin because we have the same last name if only it were true I wish I could jam with her😭

who wrote the string arrangement?

The best thing that lockdown has given to me, is discovering Madison Cunningham. She's very special.
Agreed. I cant believe how much her music keeps centering me during all this stress in my life.
Yes !!!
Look up Molly Tuttle (she did a video with Madison).
And Larkin Poe has a "rabbit 🐇 hole" of sound to explore. Have fun.
Check out her performances on Live from Here. You can thank me later. Also check out Sarah jaroz
@@danielmcbride2375 YES. She, Jarosz, and Aoife O'Donovan are my faves.
@@mikewaddell7340 check out adia Victoria, julia stone
The only thing that exceeds Madison's songwriting is her perfect performances.
Hope she returns to Vancouver again.❤️

Wow, one could build a complete movie on this song!

Light as a feather and clear like a mountain river it flows beautifully
this was my first song I heard of hers. soooo in awe
It's reassuring to know greatness still exists out there.
Somebody remembered what good music is and taught it to this lady.

She gives me Joni vibes ... but she's herself too ... love love her voice.
@@theeggtimertictic1136 I couldn’t agree more.
Little Jeff Buckley in there too. Yet her artistic voice is so unique. Just art personified.

The grass withers and the flowers fade,
but the word of our God stands forever. Is. 40/8
I was blown away by her performance on the late show with James Corden and I’ve been trying to spread the word ever since
Astounding. Joni, Eva, Sarah Mc, Bjork. So many possible influences, but her own new sound. Thank you. Hope to see you soon.
The whole arrangement is beautiful. And, I particularly like the high guitar. Stunning again.
this song is so brilliantly written on so many levels, I'm so glad I found it

YES! I was feeling that too.
This generation’s anthem. An ode to inevitable loss. Wandering. Searching for a purpose but is it our own. Yolo.

Yeah she actually is an angel.
help i've been stuck here for the past week and i can't stop listening to this (nah don't help, i like it here)
brilliant, just brilliant.
If Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, and St Vincent co-parented
As well as Joni Mitchell.
Absolutely love this song
Anyone else think she reminds you of Harriet Wheeler from The Sundays (1990 English band of "Here's Where the Story Ends" fame)
A high compliment-I consider Wheeler to be one of the greatest pop vocalists, ever-but well-earned in this case! -Tom
I hear it, Bill. If you haven't dug into Madison's catalog yet, I highly recommend!
I thought exactly this when I first heard this song on NPR. And I feel it is a mighty compliment.
@@TLMuse Such fantastic melodic architecture .
Big fan ! heard you on Scary Pockets.
so sad that this beauty will not go completely viral, it so much deserves it!
She is awesome 😎
Lovely!
This is the most beautiful song I’ve heard in a long time! What an arrangement! You’re gonna reach places. Big fan from India !
