Very cool Ron!! Thank you for representing our hobby so well!! Great Job!! And to think, I had the first interview with you on Side Track Sunday back in July of '22!!
Ron, that was OUTSTANDING!! Very VERY cool! You did a great job. Once you got comfortable, you really started to get into your element. Getting the newscaster’s train up and running was perfectly done. Hopefully, you sparked his interest back into running his trains again!! Great job my friend!!! Tom
You did a wonderful job on the interview. Being in the same position as you are, I'm a retired mechanic, I kept the trains I had and broke them out in the early 80's. They have gone through many moves and survived. Like you, I enjoy repairing not only the locomotives but the old freight cars and passenger cars as well. Continue the great work and keep the videos coming!
Ron, I hope you grasp just how much you and the other channels have caused this wonderful resurgence of our hobby. I've been involved in HO and O gauge for more than 50 years and watched the decline with great sadness. It is very evident that your channels have caused a massive boost in interest in the hobby. Thank You so much. I'm going to copy as many of my favorites as I can.
Congratulations on your spot on the news! Thanks for being an ambassador for the hobby. By the smile and expression on Russ's face, he's hooked , and he brought his own train, definitely hooked.
I'm one of your British subscribers, started following you because I really enjoy your personality on camera. Trouble is here in the UK, the hobby is dictated by old fuddy duddies who seem to enjoy sapping the fun from the hobby & the younger folks on RUclips are more review & layout based. With you, I feel the connect because I love fixing up my cars, & started making RUclips videos on them, but come winter when it's cold & wet, I see you tinkering with model trains & it lit a fire inside. Last month I took the plunge & bought an old kit locomotive to fix up (a K's Keyser LNER O4) & I'm thoroughly enjoying getting back into it. Keep doing what you do Ron, you're a fun guy to watch
The integrity & just plain old camaraderie you tend to find in this hobby just isn't there in other Hobbies or lifestyles. With his own character, Ron @Classic Model Trains has become another outstanding Ambassador for the Hobby. Congratulations my friend.
Guys like you Ron are the reason many of us remain in this great hobby! Thanks for all the laughs along the way proud 33%er here! Keep em coming, all the best from sunny Australia!
Buddy….you are too hard on yourself ! You have an authentic presentation that if it was a more polished presentation, it would make it seem plastic and phoney ! Stay humble but don’t despise your true value. You are the kind of guy we all wish we had as a neighbour ! I love some of your quirky expressions. Don’t change, just take it all in stride and be you !
So cool Ron! I was looking forward to seeing this video, since you told us! Brought back memories of my Grandpa's full out N-Scale layout. And he built 1/24 and 1/25 scale semi tractors and tractors. My 2 oldest brothers had an HO-Scale layout. They gave me a broken HO NH switcher (at the time I had no idea that NH was New Haven) and a couple trashed hoppers. That started it! Of course now my preference is the roads that served and continue to serve the Midwest through Montana to Western Washington! Great video Ron, and thank you for keeping our beloved hobby going!
Hey Ron, I just viewed your tv special. I'm glad you recorded your recording. Its amazing, all that time and did they get 40 seconds, if that to air. Well, Thats why we have RUclips. Mentioning something on the news can be looked up on the internet. The best thing that come out of it was seeing your anchorman get so involved, and excited again. I get too depressed watching the news, even local. These people have to report on such bad news most of the time, that you became a return to a simpler time in his life. He even brought his old Lionel with him. Congratulations Ron! You just did another old heart good.
Congratulations and Awesome Sir! Loved how you walked us through everything! Sure glad you found that lot for sale that was the start of one of the best! Couldn't of happened to a better Person!!
Impressive! You have a lot of information about everything committed to memory and are able to just call it out. You don’t need a book, you are the resource material. You are not just world famous, you are now local famous. You won’t be able to go anywhere without someone wanting your autograph. Love your channel. You are an inspiration and a resource. Keep it up!
Ron, don’t be too hard on yourself, I think you did a great job! The news piece was nice! I hope you get more subscribers. I enjoyed the behind the scenes and how you were helping him out with his train at the end. You can tell he wants to get into the hobby.
I enjoyed that immensely Ron. Good for you. It makes you appreciate the people who are actors, news journalists or who ever that have to stand in front of a camera.
I enjoyed being a "one man band" like Russ when I worked in TV news a few decades back in time. At small stations, you get to do it all, and sometimes a videographer was not available, so I'd head out with the camera myself. That job is a little like model railroading. Kids today are into other things, and people are watching RUclips channels and podcasts more and more, instead of the old standard TV newscasts. I really got a kick out of your self-consciousness, Ron! We're all different in front of a camera, and it's weird to see and hear yourself, but you had nothing to be nervous about. You did a great job as always.
That was cool when you brought the old train in there for you to look at you get it running and it seemed to make the old guy real happy that's why I like you run you bring old stuff back to life
I think you’re the most unique guy that does these model train repair segments. You got me interested again, I’m a Hobbytown of Boston guy. Your real gift is your personality you always make me laugh. You got me doing the Super Lube stuff. I was even up at animal shelter looking at a German Shepherd. You’re a bad influence. Love you man.
When I was doing this sort of thing, we'd have a camera guy, an audio guy, a grip, a producer, a director, and the talent. And then there'd be an editor back at the station. We even went on strike when management wanted to let the talent touch the equipment. I'm glad I worked in the "good old days", (back when the trains that you fix were new, and I was, too.) The reporter did a good job editing. This was a really cool video, and you seemed to have a great time doing it. The critique was a nice touch. Thanks.
Very good, Ron you did good, I know what it is like going before a camera, I did an interview last year, about a HOBO club I am starting up here in Toronto, but hey we both pulled it off, Plus it is nice to get the story out there about model trains, and hope fully we can get more folks back into it again, how ever I see those pesky gremins were at work, never fails you want to show off your layout to some one, and everything goes wonky, runs fine when you are alone. Take Care
Ron your channel is great. You are amazing, it’s no small wonder that the news wanted to do a story on you and your channel. Keep it going I watch every video you put up.
That was a very professional interview Ron. You just have a way to rekindle the love of a pastime almost gone. Like a miniature Jurassic park. Toy trains gave us the ability to dream and to use our ability to imagine. Today if something isn't spot on it doesn't measure up. Thank you for giving us back those abilities almost lost to time. Keep'em rollin' and watch the tracks ahead. Nothing feels as good as to see the smile on a child's face. Good luck in 2025 and in years to come.
Great job Ron! It is good yhat you remembered to catch this on your Cams. It is much better than watching his short clip. Love it. Congrats and good wishes. Enjoy your channel very much.
Hey Ron!!! On that DCC locomotive that dies on you. A lot of smaller wheel base engines tend to have problems with switches especially the frogs so installing a Keep-Alive would help tremendously. Congratulations also to your news fame!!!
I stumbled on this channel on the passenger car upgrade video and Ive been hooked since. Congratulation Ron! This is an awesome thing that has happened!
Just a fantastic video. Don't worry we won't share any of your secrets. :-) Really enjoy seeing the entire space, not just the fancy part. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! There are a lot of folks who are really interested in the model train hobby and just don't know it yet. My story is lot like yours. Had them when I was a kid, then came motorcycles, cars, girls and family, and finally back around to Lionels!
Great video. The behind the scenes part was awesome. I really like your idea about having a mobile 3 rail layout that you can take to a senior center. Would be cool if you rekindled his interest of trains. 33%
lol Ron now your a tv star ⭐️. I’m happy for you glad your getting the recognition you deserve. Great job and thanks for keeping us interested in the hobby
I was hoping you would have put the interview up. Fantastic job with with the editing, and you did an awesome job with your presentation in front of the camera. Well done Ron.
Hi Ron. Came up from the train room when I got the alert to see you on the big screen..ok 32" Tv..lol. You made the big time, and a great week with the new subscribers. Well deserved buddy. Thanks for sharing. Cheers 🍻 G. 🇨🇦
Ron, great video. I really do learn a lot from you on the older Trains. I'm into the older models since modeling the 1940s and 50s F3, F7, GP 7/9, and RS 1's of the C&EI Railroad. Even if it some train engine i would never buy, I still learn from your videos, so keep it up.
Congratulations Ron. Great interview. I love how you picked the T1 Pennsylvania locomotive to use for the interview. Wasn't it very frustrating for you? Gotta say it was a really great learning experience for us all. Thank you for sharing. I hope your channel keeps growing. Have a great day. Your a television star now... 😁
Great job Ron. It was really cool looking behind the scene, as it were. It's kinda like taking an hour or so to make a really great meal then ya sit down to eat and it's gone in 15 minutes. See ya next week
Cool! Don't worry about your pauses, we all love you and your unique mannerisms.
Thanks
Buddy!!!! Don't be so hard on yourself, you did FANTASTIC!!! CONGRATS!!!!
Keep it up Ron. Lovin' it!!

Thanks Jeff, good to hear from you.

Right? See what folks in your community are in to. Could be good to bring communities together.
I agree. Need less doom and gloom
Yes it sure would be nice
