Does Derrick Harmon make Oregon the BEST D-Line in the Big Ten?

- Derrick Harmon has had his eyes set on Oregon for some time as he visited the Ducks during the winter portal, but Dan Lanning had to wait until the spring to get him to Eugene. Harmon's arrival from Michigan State brings some serious Big Ten beef in the middle of the Ducks D-Line, but does it mean they are the best Defensive Line in the conference?

I’m cautiously optimistic as a lifelong Duck fan. We always seem to find a way to come up JUST short… the examples are numerous. But it feels like they have the best chance they’ve had in a long time, and the future is bright as long as Dan makes good on his intention to stick around.
could not have said it better, it seems like when this team is ready to run to a natty on paper they don't and when they don't look ready on paper they go lol it does not make sense
Not best B1G d-line but close enough, combined w/Oregon's offense, to likely be the most balanced, complete team in '24 regular season BigTen play. 👀
Oregon went to Ohio State and beat them soundly during the Mario years. Now, Ohio State is coming to Eugene. Its a wrap! Oregon has a very good d line and they are about to add a top safety from Alabama. I think Oregon will have the best D line and best secondary in the BIG 10. That means lots of picks and sacks. Watch out.
7 isnt soundly and they didn't have a top 2 defense.
I’m a Duck fan but it’s fans like you that make other teams fans hate Oregon as a whole. Literally we have never won it all nor are we as deep as the Buckeyes. I’m so sick of the Duck fans being so cocky. Ohio St beat us 9x before we beat them in the shoe and one of those times was for…the National Title. Pipe down and let Oregon prove it. Stop putting a target on every Ducks back.
@@OnlyNikeFans you just earned my respect
@@OnlyNikeFans100% agree with you. Sincerely from a DUCKS FAN, hands down
@@OnlyNikeFanswhats the worst part of being a duck fan? Other duck fans lol
Best paid DL in the B1G, that’s for sure.
That’s such a LAZY ass response!! Guess what… your favorite team is paying players NIL Too! Clown
Lol, not quite. Ohio State has an estimated $20.2 million in NIL funding this season. Only trailing Texas at $22.2 million. Oregon only has about half that at $10.6 million in NIL funding. Ducks aren't even in the top 15 on this NIL list.
Super excited for this season!
I like the composition of Oregon’s DLine a lot. It complements their speedy LBs very well. The pass rush is a bit of a mystery but they won’t be facing nearly as many top QBs as they previously did.
I may be a Duck fan, but I think that you have to let the teams play first to see how good they are. The D line backups, as well as injuries will play a big role as to which team will have the best D line. I have a lot of respect for Ohio St. as well as Michigan. The thing that scares me the most about Ohio St. is Chip Kelly. He could very well be the difference maker among these teams. Good luck to the Big 10. Go Ducks.
ill believe it when i see it. very exited to see oregon have a top defense
Anybody else notice the Big Ten has gotten to become more of a defensive conferences as of recently?
Quack and triple Quack quack!!!! Sco ducks
A QUACK QUACK back to u, let's go u freakin mighty ducks
I think Michigan will have something to say about having the best defensive line. Go Blue.
Mase in Your QBs Face, Kenneth Bolt or Usain Grant, Derrick Moore, Josiah Stewart, and decent depth. Go Blue! 〽️🏆〽️🏆〽️🏆
Flip side of that is UM breaking in a new offense tho. Now, if '24 Mich OL is closer-ish to the level of play of ur amazing '22 OL? Ok, that'd be different. Having an awesome running qb as qb1, in my view, makes '24 UM less of a complementary (overall) '24 team. '24 Oregon, at least on-paper so far, is more complete than UM & tOSU. '24 Ore OL is no great shakes but neither is OhioSt's. '24 UM: heavily dependent on a veteran d' & a qb1 whose fav' play is dropping back b4 rapidly running toward the right-half of the offensive formation. Frankly, I like UM's qb2 more (better passer).
Go Ducks!

I trust my coach!
Oregon just got stronger in defense. All I can say is we have a chance this year, because top to bottom our D-Lines are top notch. Our secondaries are tougher now than last year. It’s so funny when we landed Derrick Harmon Colorado and U$C fan base are all over social media, especially COW fans talking about the picture coach Lanning pointing finger. Talk about steering the pot. They couldn’t get over the CLICKS🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Talk about assuming when pictures don’t have words. They must wanted him so badly to go off like that.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. In football, WE TALK WITH OUR PADS, NOT FOR CLICKS. ROOTED IN SUBSTANCE. A DUCK WILL ALWAYS BE A DUCK
Big 10 is definitely the best conference in football
Go 🦆🦆🦆🦆
💚💛🦆🦆
You read the comment ab Oregon being top 15 in yardage allowed. They were also top 10 in points allowed
I did not expect this level of Iowa disrespect from a guy named Big Ten Ted!!
How did I disrespect Iowa?
@@BigTenTed I expected a discussion of big10 defenses to mention them at least once! As an incoming fan, still trying to figure this conference out
Not just the B1G. I'm looking at best D-line in CFB.
Absolutely it does! Behind Michigans obviously lol
It’s hard to rate Day or Lanning both have had some best players bought for them. Day couldn’t beat Michigan and Lanning couldn’t be Washington even though he had the best roster
good content - helping your algorithm
You're the real MVP.
Ha! Serves you right Coach Smith. I hate the ducks but I love MSU losing some of their best, even if it is to the quacks. Go Beavers!
Grow up. Big ten schools will have always more money than Oregon State.
I don't understand the hate. I've been a lifelong duck fan and have never hated on the beavs. It's like a sibling rivalry to me. When they play, it's all ducks, but I always cheer on the beavs the rest of the season. State pride I guess.
@@Waaterbottle I used to be like that, but the quacks, fuskies & usc condoms have extremely arrogant fan bases. If it wasn't for Phil Knight & Nike the qacks would be where with the Beaves & WSU. USC & Ucla left & started the destruction of the PAC and the quacks & fuskies finished the job. On the bright side I will be rooting for the quacks in one game next year, when they play MSU.
@@jeh58
To each their own, but I’ll still be cheering on the Beavers, just like I always have, anytime they’re not playing the Ducks.
@@jimedick9496 That's nice, but your team didn't get left behind. Your team didn't get 10 starters and a coaching staff pillaged because you got left behind. Not only that all of your starers from a WBB Final Eight team as well. So forgive me if I am a somewhat pissed at the teams that had a part in that.
GO DUCKS 🦆🦆🦆🦆
Why would the addition of Derrick Harmon make any kind of big deal. Can anybody explain how Harmon's production makes any kind of difference.
Simple answer, BITTER, JEALOUSY, AND CAN’T ACCEPT REALITY CHECK
@@ODUCKSFAN1 Please point out the production that Harmon brings to the table. Don't worry, I'll wait!
@@RaisedCane-qn3ts we will find out when season starts right? Then you’ll see.
Oh, OK, I see... So, you're a casual fan. You don't really know what his production is likely to be in 2024 but you're absolutely certain it'll be the kind of breakout year that will have NFL scouts clamoring to take him in the 1st round of next year's draft. You're not concerned that his meager 3.5 sacks and 24 solo tackles in 3 years of competition might be indicative of what is more realistic as an actual expectation. An Outland Trophy or Chuck Bednarik award winner for sure! Lmao
It's about the unit as a whole ,like any defensive or offensive line. One player can disappear in an underwhelming unit. But can be elevated in a talented unit. So far since Lannings , Oregon has been spot on with player evaluations. They haven't missed yet......
The B1G defenses ain’t seen a offense like we bringing over we finna shock the world 💚💛🦆🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Our offense has yet to be seen… Chip Kelly is now with OSU, so there’s that. I hope the Ducks are lights out, but I’ll wait and see how it all pans out. I think you’re right, but there’s still a handful of new faces and they need time to gel.
That's what they said about the national championship. We said the PAC 12 offenses haven't seen defenses like B1G defenses. The Michigan defense proved us right
Passing team don't scare me, Michigan shuts passing (Washington) teams down with the Dlines push up the middle and on the edges if you can't run the football you dead.
Lmao it’s a new year bro. Michigan better hope there’s not a ton of drop off with the coaching staff changes and players who left
Oregon is a run first team
@@mariofelix762 Michigan D gonna be better with Grant, Johnson and Graham now juniors.
@@XxDayDay12xXYeah right that's why the huskies beat you guys twice last year, when they were weak against the run.
@@Leo-xj8hw by 3 points lmao, they were a top 50 run defense and we’ve smoked them for 25+ years with a 12-game streak on their dome. Had over 120+ rushing yards both matchups, we’ll be fine lmao. They ass now, they aren’t a benchmark. Meanwhile y’all bout to struggle against Kansas 😂
Derrick Moore, Josiah Stewart, Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant are the best in the Big Ten.
I’m a USC fan and no way does his addition make Oregon the strongest D-Line in the conference it’s Ohio State, still they are the big dog then it’s Michigan and Iowa possibly. We won’t no until the season starts
‘’We won’t NO’’, you mean we won’t KNOW
You can't even spell correctly
@@princeofgreece9054 LOL
This is such a typical response from a toejam fan. Lost in their delirium that they should be a premiere program, and along with their HATE for all things Oregon because OMG it’s in Podunk Eugene…yet due to their Sergeant Schultz“I know nothing (beyond USC)” intellect, they as a posting fan base are truly insular enough to actually “no” nothing beyond that. SMH.
Like mass immigration is to the US, so too is the PAC 12 to the B1G. I’ll never look at them as part of us. I’m still pissed off about Rutgers and Maryland as a matter of fact. With the willy nilly transfer portal, NIL and all this interconference mingling, CFB has turned into a joke! I’m just glad UM won it all in the last year of semisanity. Yes, I am a proud conferencist!! lol
Man cmon No Oregon does not!! Ohio st has the #1 pass Defense an Everyone is coming back an added the #1 portal player in Downs!
TYLEIK TYE JACK JT BEST DL IN AMERICA NOT JUST B1G
You're joking, right? Michigan has best D-line in the country and 2nd place isn't even close.
Watch the video starting at 6:18
Best d line in the big ten? Not even close the university of Michigan has the best d line in the country. Your talking two locks as 1st round picks at dt and two guys at edge that potentially are 1st round picks
Answer: NO the best D line in the B1G belongs to Michigan.
Oregon has paid the most money to get these players. Oregon pays Millions to these players. Bank of Nike. Oregon should not lose a game with all that money.
Ohio state 20 mill in NIL Oregon 10.6
Let's just pretend Michigan's d-line doesn't exist.
But are they going to be as great as last season?
Won’t matters because Oregon Dc is average at best
He has 2 rings at Bama and put several guys in the NFL…
@@XxDayDay12xX and he’s still a mediocre DC. That’s why he was DC at Bama for one year before Saban forced him out. Imagine not being able to coordinate defense at Bama🤦🏾♂️
@@AlmightyMauMau he was there for 5 years before going to the NFL, please read before sounding slow on public forums. They lost 1 game his last year and had the top defense in the SEC 😂
@@XxDayDay12xX Genius he was DC for one year and was so bad that he was STRIPPED ( Pete Golding took over and was the reason Bama had a top 20 defense)of play calling duties midway through the season. Then he took a demotion by leaving to join the Browns as DL coach. Name a good DC that gets stripped of play calling???Google is your friend Einstein. It would’ve taken you 5 minutes to find this out. But noooo🤦🏾♂️
@@AlmightyMauMau him being stripped of playcalling duties isn’t him being stripped of his position, smooth brain. He was still a DC the entire season and was very much still involved on defense 😂. None of this takes away from the progress he’s made in the last 2 years either 😂 he literally has national rankings for his defenses
Sko Ducks 🦆 beat Ohio State!!!!!
Oregon gonna smash Ohio State Gonna be lots crying 😢
fuck no not the best D line Mason Graham and big Kenneth walker sets Michigan up 2 have the best Dline
If that's the case, you will enjoy the 6:18 mark in the video.
With Jamaree Caldwell (who looked great in the spring game) and Derrick Harmon in the middle, and Jordan Burch and Matayo Uiagaleli -- that's a heck of a lineup. At the very least, Oregon is squarely among the top 3 D-lines in the conference.
That's 2 people.
What happens if just ONE goes down?
Depth is what is needed. Not just starters.
@@ninefingerjack - Very good depth. Watch the video. Your personal familiarity with names is not a reliable indication of quality or lack thereof.
@@cacogenicist never said that.
I look at the numbers and production.
That's an assumption. Just because someone is a fan of a team doesn't mean that's all they follow.
Oregon..Sheesh
