    The problem is that no matter how good your matress is. Unless you’re 120lb, anything but a pretty firm matress will pack out and become MUCH softer then it was new, in no time.

    Doctor, I have subluxations in my lumbar, scoliosis in my thoracic, and my neck is well just as bad if not worse. I have tried bed after bed for years and years to no avail. Down to futons on the floor. Now, I only sleep on the floor with support for my neck, a rolled towel. I sleep on my right side and back to take the pressure off my heart. I have CHF. Never on my stomach.
    My situation is that I am trying to take my sleeping to a higher level in my living room. Meaning using a steel bed frame with wood slats. Trying to simulate my sleeping on the floor. But I can't seem to find a mattress that if firm enough to simulate what I sleep on now. The only kind of "padding" I use on the floor is the carpet. I just lay a sheet down and there you go! Simple, easy. But now that I want to bring my bed to the living room it is a different story. A lot of frustration. I hope you can shed some light on where I should look. I have chosen a twin bedframe, nothing too big. If my floors were not so cold "tile" I would just sleep directly on them. A think extra firm one would be wonderful, I'm just not able to find one. Thank you so much for your help. May God bless you. Amen

    Your Mattress must be hybrid. Medium Firm from the center where hips weight is supported and softer for upper body area where shoulders weight is supported. if you sleep on side this configuration will help you most because your right or left shoulder will sink in matterss but hips will stay bit up to level your spine straight. on the back sleep or stomach sleep position it will still work well. the whole point is don't allow mattress to sink your lower body below the support level of upper body ..
    your body is putting its weight on mattress at four points. Head, shoulder, hips and calfs or Knees (very less on ankles). if your mattress can keep your spine in straight line while sleeping than its the correct one. remember body weight plays a big role. a center medium firm mattress may be suitable for 78-95kg person but above that weight center must be more firm for hip support. never use very thick mattress the material inside doesn't perform well for support and over few years the center part sinks eventually making your mattress useless. a mattress is a surface for pain relief not giving one.

      This is such a valuable information. Thank you so much for writing this. I have back hips,back,neck and a very sore body and weight a bit over 95kgs. I always preferred a firm cotton mattress. Moving to Australia, this was no option. Finally bought a mattress in which you can flip the foams to desired firmness. Firm worked the best and has helped. Although my hips sink in a bit more than it should when I sleep on the side making it difficult to position my head on a contour pillow. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I tried my pillow at my then chiropractor's bench, my neck was in a neutral position. He just said that hips will sink on the mattress and did not give further suggestions. I hope you reply❤🙏 TIA

      are you going for firm? I always thought firmer the better for bad backs but have found, in my case, it's not best. I got an orthopedic mem foam (very firm) and my back was in agony for a year. I now sleep on a softer pocket sprung mem foam top mattress & my sleep is much improved but i do have back/neck problems so think I'll always be uncomfortable to some degree

    As someone with a life time of back pain, it is really hit and miss and sadly, it's way too expensive to try every mattress. Tempurpedic was terrible for me. Any mattress that has a foam or jelly is also really bad. It's getting harder to find a spring matress with the right amount of padding.

    I do find most memory foam mattresses way to dense or firm. I'm so glad I went to test it out before buying. Instead I decided the best matress is medium firm matress for me. I always thought I'd like plush more, but I got on 10 mattresses and each time I chose the same density of Medium firm matress regardless of the brand. I'm side and stomach sleeper perhaps someone who is very slim and sleeps in its back only prefers a solid firm matress , not the crease with most people

    Hi doc. I have bought 4 new mattresses that felt ok in the shop. I am becoming poor with all the expense. Last bed , On the up side the mattresses have been donated. I have now built my own from reflex foam with one inch memory foam. Feels so comfy when I go to sleep, however I’m waking with same pain in lower back. I suffer from sway back that you describe in you other amazing videos. I want to ask you why do you think I cannot resolve back pain . Would you suggest some sort of bed with coils that is firm. My back is only bad from sleep. I am pretty pain free after an hour from getting up. Everyone is starting to think I am OTT . I just want the right bed. I am going to buy an inflated bed and give this a try. Much gratitude.

    • @idliketosay
      @idliketosay 6 лет назад +3

      Shey Edlington Douglas have you tried sleeping with a pillow/wedge pillow/angle pillow under your knees?? There are many varieties. You can also just roll up a blanket under your knees to see if it relieves pressure on your lower back. I tried it and you can feel the relief instantly.
      I’ve tried several of the new online mattresses. And even though they are comfy, I still wake up with lower back pain so I ended up returning them and getting an inexpensive pocketed coil mattress on amazon and just added a 3 inch thick layer of soft latex mattress topper on top. You can add more layers of foam or latex for a more plush feel. But you will still likely need a pillow/support under ur knees to relief pressure from you lower back. At least that is what had helped me.

    • @idliketosay
      @idliketosay 2 года назад +1

      @@pallavir9992 sounds like you will need to address the first issue with finding a more comfortable pillow for your neck/head first. The pillow under your knees to help prevent lower back pain only really works if you sleep on your back. I’ve actually become more of a side sleeper now, so no lower back issue. I do use a pillow to wedge between my knees to make side sleeping even more comfy. Good luck.

    I have always slept on cheap divans until 2014 when my my mattress wore so bad I could not sleep beyond 4am with severe back pain. I got a memory foam topper and for a few months it was great then the pain returned. I thought the topper had gotten soft so I decided to buy a full orthopedic mem foam mattress...big mistake. Have been in pain for a year. I am ok till around 4 am then my mid back aches & is so sore until i get up & then i am pain free all day. I have recently been on a computerised comfort zone in a bed shop and was shocked to see that my pressure points were bad on a firm (5) & (4) but eased up on a soft (1) & (2) I have decided to go for a pillow sprung with mem foam topping on a (2) & hoping this helps...thoughts appreciated...thanks

    • @motivationaldoc
      @motivationaldoc  9 лет назад +2

      Personally there are so many different kinds of mattresses today unfortunately consumers and advertisers are brainwashing people. Most important is that you are sleeping on something semi firm and not too soft. Important would be the height of your pillow and not allowing your head to be too high or too low. Keeping a pillow underneath knees on your back or between the knees on your side would be very helpful. Possibly taking some valerian root before you go to bed may be helpful to have a nice sound sleep. 😊

    • @MsSkibereen
      @MsSkibereen 8 лет назад

      Hi moonrice. I ended up going to Bensons for beds & trying out their comfort station adaptor which highlights your pressure points on their computer. I was surprised that my back faired better on a soft mattress. they are graded 1 - 5 with 5 being the firmest. I ended up choosing a 2. I do have better nights on my new mattress but it's hit and miss. If I have a restless night my back aches but if I sleep well & I suppose move less I can wake up quite comfortable. I've had a back injury since I last posted and my neck and head always hurt so i think even if i slept on a cloud I'd be stiff in the mornings lol If your side is killing i think you've picked one that's too firm. For a long time I couldn't sleep on my side and had to lay flat out but now I'm sleeping on my side again (which is my preferred choice) try a mem foam topper on your new mattress and see how that goes. if not you may need a softer mattress. Firm isn't always best. Good luck

    Agree. Tempurpedic cloud luxe was too soft and mad my back worse trying to roll out of a hole. The rhapsody was great for back sleeper but roll on your side then shoulders and hip would go numb. Supreme breeze perfect. My problem now as i get older the breeze is great for back support but my hips start hurting after 16 minutes on my side. I am afraid to go softer. Any recommendations? Thinking about the tempurpedic proadapt soft which is a little softer than the supreme breeze but firmer than the cloud lux.

      Hi, you have to focus on good posture making sure you're not keeping the head into a forward position. Make sure you're stretching the pecs and strengthening the rhomboids. I would not be overly concerned with your herniated disc as long as you're not compressing the cord or having any other kind of weakness, muscle atrophy, or loss of reflexes. You need to be patient. You can use ice over the posterior neck area.

    I bought the tempur-pedic mattress firm pro adapt cost 3,600$ and it’s only been 6 months and me & my husband are suffering with back pain. We still owe on the mattress and 90 day return has expired. So what is there to do? Credit will go to shit if we stop paying it! Mattress firm is garbage. They don’t care. Tempur pedic costumer service says it has to be a Manufactured defect.. ok.. how do I prove that. This sucks!

    I member d days me and my pregnant wife had to sleep up on yonder on top of the mountain first we laid some Dem dang ol wooden pallets down. Then we would go and steal some Dem dare chicken feathers from the people's down the hills farm. Once we got up enough chicken feathers we laid em out on Dem dang ol wooden pallets and top em off with old crochet blanket ma made for me before she went off to prison. And I tell ya what it sure as hell helped my hemroids real good

    Yes that’s why our Prophet Mouhammad said not to sleep on our stomach and told us to sleep on our right side with the right hand underneath our head and this was more than 1400 years ago
    ALLAH is great and everything is by HIS Will
    ALLAH is our only GOD
    Mouhammad is his Prophet
    Jesus is his Prophet
    Only by this beleif we can enter Paradise and live forever
    And whoever disbeleives enter Hell forever
    Read Quran 📖 Words of our Only GOD

      my mom has MS and she loves her sleep number since it gives her flexibility to have the exact firmness or plushness she needs. 100% reccomend

    Not like the traditional mattress, but these new plastic/foam mattress are all garbage nowadays, and never last long and start sagging out etc., mattresses are a total scam now a days.

    When you make these videos that say nothing it makes me wonder about your other videos. Sometimes you go on and on and on about things that we already know, perhaps know better. You make too many promises and are a bit narcissistic. The most moronic idea is to go to the store and 'try it out.' Oh for sure. I'm totally comfy and will immediately know how it's going to feel for seven hours versus the five minutes there. Hello..... You have way too many videos. I would be a little more sure of info on subjects before you make them, whether you are getting rich from them or not. Keep in mind that someday you will be judged.
