Former Carousel of Progress CM here. 99.9% of the time, when the carousel stops rotating or is unable to rotate it’s because someone has exited the theater into the backstage area/ride path and a CM had to go retrieve them. So thank a guest for your ability to repeat the scene. Also, I was working here one night when one of my fellow CMs claimed they saw a ghost in the attraction that yelled at them for leaning against the wall. We used to have phantom alarms that we would attribute to the ghost as well.
Two things: 1. When Ryan finally goes to Tokyo Disneyland, I would love to see a haul video of all the souvenirs he buys 2. I can't wait until someone picks Living with the Land. The added holiday overlay just makes it that much better
Originally I didn't think I was going to like this podcast as much because I've not been to any of the parks you've talked about, but I've gotten really into it!!! I hope this podcast keeps going strong! :)
I was at the 1964 World's Fair in New York and I absolutely remember riding 'It's a Small World" and being enamored of it - My mom took me on it 2 times in spite of the very long lines. I also remember the "world of tomorrow' but I remember not liking it - but that's because I was 5. LOL My grandparents had a coal stove for warmth and then finally a coal furnace, and they had a well handle in their kitchen sink and I loved pumping that thing. Water was warmed on the wood/coal stove. Thank you for this, it really took me back ❤❤❤

I just have to say that I am absolutely obsessed with this podcast after finding it only last week. I haven’t had the privilege to ride Carousel of Tomorrow, but your shared enthusiasm is enough to keep me hooked. The new Robert Zemeckis film "Here" looks like the closest thing we're going to get to a Carousel of Progress movie anytime soon! Plus, it's from one of Ryan's favorite directors!
i always had an idea for a carousel of progress tv show sitcom/drama where each episode is the family stuck in a different era and is trying to escape it only to get stuck in another era, john and sarah's impending divore could be a major plot point

I didn’t go on the Carousel of Progress until after a handful of visits to Disney World but I LOVE this ride. It’s a great reset ride to chill out, rest your feet, enjoy some AC, and watch a lovely little show. The music is so catchy and if someone needs a short nap they can also take it, but I leave singing the song and bouncing side to side
I've never been to WDW, but this is now definitely on my must ride list! Mike absolutely sold it with his love, and Byron and Ryan with their recounting of the dialog lol.
It always gives me a hop in my step after because I'm so in love with the fact that nothing else like this exists and it's kind of a beautiful moment that this is Disney's legacy attraction. And it definitely aged well....it's practically history but we get to experience it today. And also, the ride always looks as if it's brand new every time I'm on it.
Carousel of Progress is a must see every single time for me! Walt's ties to the attraction and all its history make it a no brainer for every trip. Here is a FYA/Ghost Files crossover. The original Carousel of Progress theatre in DL is supposed to be haunted by a cast member who was killed after being trapped between the moving walls.
So I skipped over stuff from the 1 hour point until about 1:25:00; did they even MENTION that fact? I mean, it IS kind of a downer fact to be sure but it’s a fact nonetheless...

When I was 16 I went to Disney world and the carousel of progress was my only must-ride. I only found one of my friends willing to sit through it with me but by the end of that ride we were singing along and bounced into the park after 20 minutes to refresh in that dark, air-conditioned room. Absolutely stellar experience, I regret nothing

I've never been on The Carousel of Progress, but as soon as I heard the voice of the mom in those clips I knew exactly who it was. Her name is B.J. Ward & she did the voice of Velma for a very short period of time, it just so happens that that period of time is when my favorite Scooby Doo movies came out Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, Scooby-Doo & the Witches Ghost, Scooby-Doo Alien Invasion, & Scooby-Doo Cyber Chase
I absolutely love that mike is on here! He is absolutely amazing at telling stories..i could listen to him Telling me about absolutely anything and i would listen and be entertained
A part of me is like... They forget to mention that when you're in Orlando, Florida... It is hot 🔥 So the fact that it is next to Space mountain after lining up for other rides that maybe 40+ mins... This "ride" provides A/C & a good solid one too; to combat heat. For sure the future scene did not age well... But at the same time, it is a form of entertainment, and also a ride that everyone can ride with small children. A lot of people forget that Disney World is more of a family theme park and a lot of the times... If 1 kid is too short for height requirements... 1 parent stays with one kid & the other kid goes with the other parent on the ride. Which isn't fun, so rather than wait in the hot sun ☀️ it's nice that there is a ride like this right beside Space mountain to kill time
I’ve never been on this ride but I am lowkey obsessed with it. I have watched several videos on it and would love to ride it for real. So super cool to watch you guys banter about it for 2 hours 😊❤
This was an amazing episode! Lol I was not expecting this level of psychoanalysis, I have laughed, I have cried, I have had revelations. I would totally Patreon to keep this podcast going.
The shame on their faces every time they passed a test was hilarious! I think the "does this have a comprehensible story" round was a bit harsh. The question isn't will it make a good movie, and Mike coming in with a literal quote from an A-lister saying they wanted to do it (on top of it legitimately being theatre in a ride) should have made that an easy pass.
I have not been to Disney since I was a child 30+ years ago, and have not been to any amusement park in the last 20 years, and yet I look forward to this podcast every week. 😂
Am I the only one who thinks that a new version of CoP (in addition to the old version still operating) focusing on the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s would actually be popular? Seems like that would be really cool, especially in Disneyland since the OG CoP is at WDW.

When I looked up the animatronics I was absolutely SHOOK that they matched what I remembered down to the colors.
Fly is the most incredibly themed coaster and ride experience combined ever. The innovation vekoma achieved with the flying coaster model is fantastic, the preshow on the ride is unexpected and fun, the land is absolutely one of the most immersive areas in a park akin to diagon alley at universal. Its beautiful, exciting and fun. Dont sleep on phantasialand.
My first trip to DisneyWorld was with my high school best friends family who were all major Disney fans and park heads (unbeknownst to me at the time). All day my friend keeps saying that she cannot wait for the carousel of progress, and her and her brother are all HYPED. At this point I’m thinking it must be something akin to splash mountain or a rollercoaster because of the excitement, they also refused to tell me what it was “lest they ruin the surprise”. Well, I was surprised all right, and honestly it was my favorite part of the day just seeing this strange and hopeful and terrifying ride. Also watching my nerd ass friend and her family absolutely LOSE it over this ride was fantastic

Dont sleep on phantasialand.
i can not believe that i just listened to this entire thing. LOVING the podcast, keep it up yall!!
That ending was perfect!
I love when the Dad wants to dress up as Benedict Arnold. And my sister and I frequently say, "You and your progress!" to each other.
