Hi 👋🏾 everyone! Let’s discuss traction alopecia and what you think we can do to prevent this.

The idea that "Beauty is pain" is the root cause. 3 years being a Natural now, I care for my own hair and I realized how much damage salons inflicted on my scalp and hair in the name of styling for 10+ years salon visits. I always thought I had weak edges. Sometimes I did get bumps from braids. Now my scalp, edges, hair are healthier. Health 1st always.
Yes beauty is pain is a something that we should really do away with now. It’s time to leave tight braids and tight styles alone so that we can have full strength with our hair. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people get braids sooo tight they have to take pain medicine. It’s ridiculous! Thank you for watching and commenting!
A woman who put in braids for me once said, "the reason you're so scared of the pain is because you've never had a baby, so once you have a baby you'll know real pain." I took the braids out 2 days later. I'm surprised my scalp didn't suffer to bad. Now nobody touches my hair besides myself and my mother.
Omg!!!! How dare she??? Pain is never normal when getting a hair style. It is a sign the hair is way too tight. Glad you took the braids out and didn’t have severe damage. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Outlandish, right???
@Charlean Batton yeah she did 😒
She sounds like a S😈DisT.
Yeah I see it most in kids and it makes me sad :( this is such a good topic and needs to be discussed
Thank you for watching!!! My dermatologist said black women are the number 1’s in his office due to traction alopecia. He tells people to stop wearing tight braids and weaves but they don’t listen until it’s literally too late. Tight ain’t right. I’ve seen kids hair so slicked back it looked like they had face lifts. There needs to be a cultural shift in the black community when it comes to the notion that slicked back, tight and laid is what hair is supposed to look like.
@@CammyjOfficial thats why i embrace my messsy puff and dont worry about laying edges lol
Right!!! I was surprised to find out that 1/3 of all black women suffer from some form of traction alopecia. Kind of scary actually.
thank you for bringing this to light! I’ve also ruined my hairline with tight styling, and it’s nice to see people talking about it :( ❤️❤️
Thank you for watching. I think it’s an important topic especially when statistics show 1/3 of black women have some form of traction Alopecia. I hope your hairline recovers. Be blessed ❤️
i guess it is pretty randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to watch new tv shows online ?
@@myleszayd4712 watch marianne on netflix it’s super good
@Myles Zayd i dunno I'd suggest Flixportal. You can find it on google :) -brodie
@Brodie Gianni Thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I appreciate it !
You can really sing! And this was informational
Thank you for the compliment! I am glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching.
I am here 2yrs later but the information is still relevant...thanks 👌
Hello 👋🏾 Molly!!! I’m going to do an updated video on this because it seems it’s become even worse in the community. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Awesome commentary! Very informative video. Most of the people I have spoken to say they endure the pain for several weeks of convenience. They like not having to really spend time styling on a day to day bases. Short term convenience vs long term hair loss.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I understand the desire to not have to do your hair daily or several days a week, however, it’s madness to continue to allow any stylist or braided to install styles that are just too tight. I was shocked when my dermatologist told me that 1/3rd of all black women suffer from some form of traction alopecia. It immediately made me think about all the styles I’ve ever had, and thankfully I’ve never had any that were tight. Yes, I want my braids to last but I want my hairline to last longer.
I've never experienced this but I have spoken up about a braider not braiding my edges so tight and she told me that she didn't want it to look bad like as is my request didn't matter and she was just worried about the look of my hair incase someone asked me where I got it done at. After that I decided I didn't want to get my hair braided professionally unless I knew I could trust that person.
Wow! I know other people who’ve had similar experiences. Her stylist was told the initial braid was too tight and the stylist tried to ignore her!
Beauty is pain is absolutely rubbish.
This is a very informative video which brings awareness about Traction alopecia
Good video! Such an eye opener x
btw love ur intro xx
Hey love! Thanks for watching. I’ve been seeing so much about hair loss in young black women, it was shocking.
This was very detailed, the pictures really give light to what your mentioning. Love your videos sis!
🤗❤️
We didn't have all the information we have now. I have traction alopecia. I just thought the hair would grow back so I didn't stop when I should have.
I agree that the level of information surrounding traction alopecia is much more visible now than before. I don’t think anyone realizes what’s going on until it’s too late. I did this video on the hopes to raise awareness around the subject since black women are the most susceptible to this condition.
Love your hair & make up 😍😍😍
Thank you!!! Thank you for watching!!
I speak up all the time & tell them don’t braid my hair in tight. 👍
I’m glad you do!! It’s so important to let them know because if not, it leads to hair loss. Thank you for watching and commenting.
If you could avoid having to get a hair transplant, please do ladies. A hair transplant is expensive and a looooong process.
I agree! The styles that snatch peoples edges are NOT worth it.
Hey I personally lost hair on both sides worse on the left as result of a stylist having pulled my hair tight into cornrows. Over time I lost hair in left frontal plus left and right edges to behind ears due to it. I have two people who don't do it tightly and I let them do it. My confidence was zero due to loss of hair tho it wasn't permanent loss of hair. With help from those people, the My left and right side completely grown back somewhat but it is growing in gradually. My left side needs more growth tho for it to be full once again. I tend to tuck it under my full hairs due to it. Any tips?? Over years I find essential oil products work for me but I was natural for a few years now. Oh and my confidence is coming back over time as I see growth.
Hello 👋🏾! I would suggest that you go see a dermatologist for further help. They can review your scalp abs follicles and provide you with a good care plan to grow the rest back. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Thanks. Will about seeing one soon as I can. Would love to see fullness there once again.
They should definitely be able to help. They offer shots, creams and more for hair regrowth. Praying blessings for your hair regrowth
I do fix frontal wig and I don't make tight protective styles but I keep losing my edges
Hello 👋🏾! Please go see a dermatologist. You might have an internal issue going on.
@@CammyjOfficial Thank you
@@iboyiteteufuoma2359 you’re welcome. They should run blood tests on you and see if you have any type of vitamin or mineral deficiency
