I was so bummed when he died. Didn't watch the show until the final episode. Did the actor want to leave because I would have loved to have seen the two of them try to have a relationship?

No problem. A lot of good things have happened though since then: Claire eventually found her calling working at a hospital in Guatemala. The last time that we saw her, Claire had been offered Chief of Surgery there. Shaun and Lea got married and she is currently 36 weeks pregnant with their son. They had a daughter during Season 4, but Lea suffered a miscarriage at 5 months.😭😭😭 On the medical side of things, we've ended up with some great new residents. Shaun and Park are now attendings. I think Morgan is too, but her hand issues forced her to switch to internal medicine instead. She's thriving there by the way. AND Jared Kalu from Season 1 has recently returned as a recurring character!!! He's now Shaun's resident.
I binged The Good Doctor. Got to season 3 and loved every bit of Claire and Melendez only to get spoiled of his horribly heartbreaking death. I can't continue the show. Not without him. Not without Melendaire. This shit is painful 😭😭😭😭
