Nextion 7" Diamond series HMI on Marlin Kimbra firmware

Ho inserito un sensore per rilevare il movimento intorno alla stampante e pilotare un relè per azionare luci, diminuire la retroilluminazione del display e quant'altro si voglia fare per risparmiare energia quando non serve. Il tutto è temporizzabile e personalizzabile tramite menu.
The state of the art in terms of display applied to 3D printers.
I applied a sensor for detecting the movement around the printer and pilot a relay to operate lights, decrease the display backlight and anything else you want to do to save power when not needed. Everything is timed and customizable via menus.

Complimenti, bel lavoro, molto professionale. Il sensore di luce per la regolazione automatica del backlight(suppongo) è un tocco di classe. Come i cruscotti delle auto. Ora sto giocando con un Nextion 3.5 quindi il tuo progetto 8se disponibile ovviamente) non ce lo posso caricare ma sarei proprio curioso di provarlo. Bravo!

Qui i complimenti non bastano più... siamo oltre, per il lavoro fatto ma soprattutto (e qui rispondo alle domande di qualcuno lette più sotto) per il fatto che tutto è open source.. Sono Radioamatore e l'Ham Spirit insegna questo, ma anche nel mio settore per qualunque boiata chiedono soldi.. Questo è un CAPOLAVORO e vi fa onore l'open source. Appena ordinato il display.

OPS! oggi preso dall'entusiasmo ho voluto mettere in macchina il contenitore.... la mia stampante ha il piatto 20x20... non ci sta.
Sbaglio qualcosa o voi avete stampanti con piatti più grandi?
Nel frattempo ho ordinato il Nextion e mi sono fresato con la cnc il pcb.. il resto lo avevo nel cassetto... ma se non riesco a stampare il contenitore sono nei guai.. si riesce a risicare qualcosa o è tutto stretto a misura?

Io l'ho stampato con la mia che ha il piatto 30×30. In quello da 20 non ci sta. Devi fartelo stampare da qualcuno oppure tagliare il pezzo da software.

Altrimentoi non sono all'altezza di modificarlo... anzi non sarò all'altezza neanche con SketchUp.. Mi dispiace perchè ho già fatto il pcb e saldato tutto e aspetto solo il Nextion per iniziare questa nuova battaglia... Io ti do la mia mail e quando hai tempo se mi passi il file o se qualcuno ha voglia e tempo per stamparmene una ne sarei molto felice... previo compenso (ora parlo come quello che ho criticato ((-: ).

Scaricati Netfabb basic, è semplice da usare e puoi fare i tagli che ti pare.

Prima di tutto, complimenti per il lavoro strepitoso! Ho letto che il medesimo firmware funziona anche per il 5", in questo caso come ci si trova a usarlo considerando le dimensioni ridotte del display? Perde molto in fruibilita'? Grazie ancora!
Ti ringrazio. Sul 5" và come sul 7", la differenza è più sulla leggibilità e sulle dimensioni delle dita nonchè l'impatto scenico!😀
were you able to get sdcard reader to work as well? i know the screen doesnt have one, but what did you do with that part?
Yes i did it. What you see is simply an extension for SDcard that I connected to the SD socket on the board. Works great.

could you share your nextion editor software?
I tried to use both my Nextion 3.2 & 2.4 displays but they say that it is the wrong Device Models NX3224T024_011R & NX4024K032+_011R.
Is there a link to your Picture images that you used for the Nextion so I could use those?

ma l'animazione iniziale è fatta con un timer e cambio picture o questo display è diverso(io sto aspettando il 3.5 enanched)? sto ancora cercando di capire come fare una listview tipo quella che hai messo per la selezione dei file.bella interfaccia comunque. complimenti.

i posted this in a printing f book group and it has got a lot of attention i just ordered all the parts ;) this is truly awesome and amazing!! pretty excited to try it out!! one question though! once i configure the firmware is there another part of the firmware just for the lcd? or is the marlin firmware a complete unit? i didn't read all of it lol
Just to be clear, this application only runs with the MK4duo firmware, which is an improved version of the official Marlin that can be downloaded on www.marlinkimbra.it site which is the only firmware that manages touch displays. :)
In the online configurator (version 4.3.3 stable) you only have to select the Nextion + Live Preview GFX as display, no further parameters are required.
A version with some corrections will be out soon ... stay tuned!

On display you can only upload .tft file (.HMI compiled). tft files are inside MarlinKimbra firmware but you can download HMI files in the repository: github.com/MKFirmware/MK4duo/tree/master/NextionFW
hello i just installed this on mine but can't get the case lights to switch on and off using the screen how did you do it ?
check if the jumper located on relais board is in VCC position.
i could not get M355 command to work on the older version or this one my lights work to the defalt state set in the arduino code. i have them in a spair mosfet on my radds board so no relay used

Ciao, potresti gentilmente spiegarmi come si usa un display del genere? da quel che ho capito si usa arduino/raspberry ma è in grado di fungere da micro-controllore? O ha solo una memoria per le immagini? Grazie in anticipo
Rientra nella tipologia dei cosiddetti "display intelligenti" quindi hanno una loro programmazione interna che ti permette di gestire la seriale e la porte di I/O digitale in dotazione. Se devi sviluppare un'applicazione molto semplice che sfrutti solo le porte interne senza chiedere molto in termini di velocità puoi anche usarlo stand-alone. Nella quasi totalità dei casi è comunque necessario abbinarlo ad un microcontrollore. Se ti colleghi al sito della Nextion puoi visualizzare il set di istruzioni del display e quindi valutare come utilizzarlo.

under the 4.3.3 stable they have "* Add ANET board for A2, A6 and A8 printer" but I do not understand how it hooks up to the controller card at all, the Marlinkimbra site seems to be missing a lot of info... Documentation on there is not good at all :(

I can only suggest you look good in Thingiverse, there are many valid projects. I draw all my parts and I don't think you'll find anything like this. For my new printer I have designed a better one with the adjustable side fans and the central fan that blows the air upwards so that it can't go on the piece when I print in ABS. I only have the projects made in Rhinoceros and in any case I use the Winomo hotends that are like the E3Dv6 but a little bigger. You should always modify the project to adapt them to your hotends.

Che figata, mi si sono irrigiditi i capezzoli, complimenti, io sono alle prese con una stampante che dovrebbe fare cnc e stampante 3d, purtroppo quando genero il codice con inkscape e lo inserisco nella sd, la cnc scava di brutto e non fa una fresatura uniforme, pezzi alti, pezzi bassi, entra con prepotenza con il suo attrezzo insomma, mo letto che la versione kimbra contiene anche del codice compatibile con il taglio cnc, sapresti consigliarmi? Ciao e complimenti ancora.
ti ringrazio.....la parte che del kimbra relativa alla cnc non l'ho mai verificata e non saprei dirti, quindi ti consiglio di girare la domanda nel forum di RepRap e sarai consigliato al meglio!
Sir, can you explain, how do you connected the steppermotors to the HMI and that you can interact with them via HMI? Stepper Motor -> H-Bridge -> Arduino HMI ? I would like to regulate my stepper motor nema 17 with my HMI. But i dont know where i should start :-) Can you give me some advise or tutorial-links where i can learn it from? I can adjust my stepper motor with an potentiometer, but i want to regulate the speed with the HMI - can you give me some help pls? :-)
I'm sorry but, for now, is not possible make adjustments to printer from HMI. Motors should be connected on your board and all settings are via Marlin Kimbra firmware. Soon will be added.

If yes, are the G code used for the temperature setup and homing the same?
If not, could be possible change them in the panel? A complete reprogramming of the interface is required?

This would be a fantastic setup for my Core XY printer, unfortunately i cannot swap smoothie-board for the ramps.

Ho realizzato credo tutto quello che serve per applicare lo il tuo sistema con lo schermo da 7 pollici anche alla mia stampante, soltanto che non trovo uno schema di connessione fra il nextion e la mia motherboard GT2560 A+ .

Non conosco quella scheda ma essendo una Mega posso ipotizzare che come la Ramps abbia la seriale su Zmin e Zmax. Quindi dovresti collegare il display lì e spostare lo switch Zmin su Ymax riconfigurandolo nel MarlinKimbra.

Ciao, ho trovato finalmente il tempo di fare un po' di prove, ed ho scoperto la soluzione. Le connessioni per il TX e RX sulla GT2560, non sono sullo Zmin e Zmax, ma bisogna utilizzare i pin del connettore di uscita dell'LCD e cioè RXD1 (pin 9) e TXD1 (pin 10).
Ora mi è rimasto soltanto un piccolo inghippo, dopo la intro(puzzle), all'avvio del display, sopra all'immagine di base con i dati estrusore, piatto...eccetera, mi rimane sovraimpressa nell'angolo in basso a destra, una parte dell'immagine della INTRO.
La soluzione immagino che sia di attaccarmi al nextion editor e cercare di capire come vengono spostate le immagini, è corretto?

Questa è una cosa molto curiosa. In teoria non sarebbe possibile perchè dopo l'intro viene caricata un'altra pagina e fatto il refresh dello schermo. Prova ad installare l'ultima versione che trovi nella 4.3.6

Lo puoi collegare tranquillamente, ovviamente da il meglio con le 32 bit.

Come scheda unica la Ultratronics altrimenti due schede messe a sandwich e puoi scegliete tra Arduino Due + Radds 1.6 oppure Arduino Due + Ruramps4D.

Purtroppo avere questo layout sul 4.3" è impossibile, puoi solamente montarlo sul 5" che hanno la stessa risoluzione. Per il 4.3" è comunque disponibile una versione differente ma allo stesso modo efficiente.

il file da caricare sul display è quello con estensione .TFT e lo trovi sul sito Marlinkimbra. Una volta che hai scaricato il firmware vai nella cartella Nextion FW e lì trovi sia la versione per 4.3" che per 5/7".

Nice "style exercise" but seriously who need a screen on a 3d printer? Remote control / web server is much more easy and flexible solution and also cheaper.
Can you modify graphic UI easily? because like that the aesthetics is for "car tuning lover" and icon look like coming out directly form windows 3.1
There are many people that use a touch display on own printers. Is very useful if you print from SD or for tuning the printer when PC is far or not available and give a touch of class...!! 😀
