I know we all love smart, but he was going into his 10th year. Derek White played better than him even on defense in the playoffs. It was a good time to trade him and get someone like Porziņģis. Udoka was so much of an improvement mainly from being more of an alpha male voice in the locker room. Either way, I have been very impressed with his work as an executive. I remember when he got the job joking in 2021 that he “pulled a Joe Biden and failed all the way to the top.”

If he would have drafted him at 25 we would not have the MLE available to sign a veteran that cab help directly. First round picks have a guaranteed contract that would hamper Brad in free agency.
