Jin is a co producer on this song. The lyrics were written by RM he later realized that what he wrote is what Jin actually felt and that was not really the intention. The song is about him not being good enough for the other members because he had no experience at all when he joined. He says the members are flying but he can't catch up but he will keep trying. I always say this is part 1 of epiphany because in Epiphany he realized he couldn't love the members if he didn't love himself and he accepts all of himself. You are right he is an amazing performer and his ability to convey emotion is insane his voice is piercing
The background story of this song is really sad.. you can see that he wishes to be as good as the rest of the members.. this was probably at the time when there was still self-doubt in Jin that he couldn't fly as high as the other members. I hope he feels better now cos we love him just for who he is and who he has become. This man deserves all the love in the world.

Rose Hi probably you misread my intentions. He is amazing yes but he did start with self-doubt which was mentioned by himself even right up til today. He and the boys work very hard to improve themselves constantly and has taught us that working hard is part of achieving success. For me, I hope he knows he is amazing cos ARMY believes he is amazing. I’m a double bias and Jin is one of my bias. I want nothing more than him knowing that he’s a great singer.

This is the only song that made me cry instantly after first time listening and then still kept crying for almost 1 hours just by listening to it over and over again. I'm being honest here. When I first listened to this song, I was in a situation where I needed it the most. And I could feel and relate Jin's emotions here. That's why this song is so special to me. Because BTS has seven members and everyone has to sing in a 3-4 minutes long song. Please don’t say stuffs like this.They get almost equal part in all songs most of the time and if it is otherwise I am sure the members are okay with it since they are actively participating in production. Please don’t make any member seem like a victim.💜
Because he became a BTS trainee when he was almost 20 just because of his look with zero knowledge of singing and zero coordination and aptitudes in dancing (his own words in a vlog). He had to work two or three times harder than the other members and slept only 3 or 4 hours a day for a long time just to be able to keep up with the others. At the time he had a lot of confidence issiues. He was terrified to sing this song alone and live at first. But he really killed each performances with his voice and expressions. He made us feel each words and his despair to do well. RM said that he knew that only Jin could have sing and do justice to this song. And man he was so right. In this performance Jin make us feel his pain of trying to be as talented as the other members. And if he never reaches their level he will keep doing so until he cant no more. He we'll be just happy to tag along with those talented guys for as long as he can and see them just reach heights that he can never reach. This is one of my most favorite song. Makes me cry all the time. But thank God Jin has prove himself and the haters wrong. By showing us how a talented singer and performer he is BTS would not be BTS without him. He is BTS glue and secret weapon according to his members

Can you say Actor Jin? He is the reason I got into BTS, his voice made me start liking some of their music and in fact my most favorite BTS songs are the ones that give him proper lines (except Ddaeng, but that's a master piece)
The lyrics of ‘Awake’ are about not believing that you can ever succeed in the way that you want to, but still determining yourself to fight toward it anyway. You may not be able to do what you envision yourself doing, but you can at least look back on yourself and say that you tried, that you got these wounds fighting. “It’s not that I believe it, but that I want to try holding out, because this is all that I can do” - All you can do is try and keep hoping that you will succeed. If you fail, you fail, but if you don’t have hope that you’ll succeed, if you don’t at least try, you never will.
The inclusion of the lyrics, “I’m so afraid; still, I hold these 6 flowers tightly in my hand” speaks of something more personal. He’s determined to keep working harder in the group with the other 6 members. Though he may never fly as they do, “the flower petals over there”, he will keep trying, because he wants to hold on to this dream of getting better, he wants to keep going despite the fear that he will never be good enough.

So I think he would enjoy the Bangtan Universe I'm just waiting for him to react to their older music video, then I think he will be ready. Like all of their solo songs from this time frame, this song has at least two meanings. One, in the BU story line and the other in real life. The story line is sad enough, but the real-life meaning of several of the solo songs are also very sad. This is one of them. To "fly" in Korean is an expression meaning to reach your full potential. Jin is saying that he can't fly or touch the sky like the other six members of the group. This song expresses his fears of being unable to keep up with the others, being left behind and basically being dropped from the group. It breaks my heart that he ever felt that way, that he wasn't good enough to be part of the group.
