      @@hvalenti One becomes aware about morality by experienice, observation, realizing every human experience is different and trying to avoid causing any suffering. By living socially, mainly, and relizing how much one doesn't undestand about the universe and the human experienice, so one can stip judging others and their experience. And coming to the conclution that the god explination is a very simplistic one, and one used very much to control others lifes and morality. It ain't that hard.

    • @nyzrh
      @nyzrh Год назад +1

      well i try my best to follow it when i can and i make conscious effort to get better at it. most everyday things do match with the like major religious way of doing things. You see people explaining that what their religion says is accurate, with the use of science ( current observations, when they really shouldnt need that depending on the nature of their relation with their 'god' ). It's a similar thing excluding the first step.
      I do keep in mind that the structures we developed is maybe easier to follow and decent for most people but the devil always lies in the details. I speculate a lot of people with the "i don't know" lifestyle have a very specific sets of rules they follow, like one knows from observation which direction the sun rises from. So its maybe not a completely "i don't know" lifestyle. It's like a spectrum. in some sense even they are religious.
      I really see the "i don't know" lifestyle as being more of a part of agnosticism than atheism tho. also it's vague to call it a "i don't know" lifestyle, (what? u dont know abt 2+2 being 4 haha. Of course not ) it would be more specific to call it " i don't know about your god mate" lifestyle. The more precise the better, as it's a semantics game.

    • @hvalenti
      @hvalenti Год назад

      @andresbarriga5305 so it sounds like you DO know. Glad to see you're committed to the I-do-know lifestyle, but it's not the "my own" morality I was promised. Empiricism has been making this argument for centuries. But I'm not sure empiricism or utility explains a human's conscience. Many Darwinists, for example, argue that having a conscience -- when it doesn't benefit the self interests of the individual -- is positively mysterious. Folks from Nietzsche to Margaret Sanger argue that our rather pedestrian morality hinders us from reaching our full individual potential, blaming traditional religion/spirituality for this roadblock. But I'm glad to see it's so simple for you.

    It doesn't take religion to get good people to do good things, but it takes something like religion to get someone that would otherwise be a good person to do bad things and actually be convinced that they're doing good while doing it. Religious belief is a faith based belief. Faith can be used to "justify" belief in two directly contradictory claims. There is no idea that cannot be held "based on faith", thus faith is not and can not be considered a reliable method of determining truth. Actions are based on beliefs. If you have a belief that is faith based as opposed to based on logically sound, reasonable, articulable arguments, then you should probably reconsider your position.

    • @lukeblackman66
      @lukeblackman66 Год назад

      Please stop using that obviously foolish quote. Its bullshit to anyone with a brain.
      First of all the idea that religion only makes a good pearson do bad is absolute nonsense. Mankind is very corruptible this has been known since our begings even every fantasy rilm like star wars and Lord of the rings knows it, good men can easily be lead a stray or turned into bad men without any religion as the line between good and evil runs across evry human heart, in fact this is the most common scenario. You see this in nazi Germany and lots of wars where good young men who at first can't even kill a man are taking out pregnant women and shooting them and children for fun, nothing to do with any religion, but is simply the corruptible nature of mankind. Furthermore most evil is done not for religious beilifs that tend to oppose wrong doing but by men looking for power greed, imperialism, vengeance and ideology, and has nothing to do with any religious belief, most wars are like this, most financial crimes, and while religions can be manipulated to ttu justify things, youl find thats not what the religion says at all and is not present in the majority of cases..good people also do evil when mislead, today still its everywhere pay attention. Furthermore anyone using this quote knows nothing of the nature of good and evil. First of all being good comes form being able to do bad and harm and choosing not to, not just doing good when you cant do anything else or its easy and the lines of good and evil run across every human heart. Because of this most people or many are not good at all, just like someone who'weak can't be peaceful there just harmless, and someone whos good to those whos good to them isn't good either as even evil people can be good to those who are good to them. Because of this most people who we identify as good as they had normal lives are not good at all including yourself and you and many posses an immense capacity for violence cruelty misery and evil, the idea only a relgous belif can make you tap into this side of yourself is not only fucking ludicrous and not the case in most acts of supposed good men doing evil but its the other way round. As religous belif and religion is by far the most powerrfull and most effective, and in some cases the only way at making bad people do good. Religion can turn a violent future attepmting murdering misbehaving phycopath into a good civil charitable member of society, can stop people smoking and misbehaving instantly, has turn slave owners into abolitionists who abolished the human universal of slavery in the west for the first time ever in an entirely religious movement, can turn the most evil into good, suicidal people depression cured, when nothing else worked. Theo von even said when he was younger nothing other than god could get through to him and this is the case for many a people who have had their behaviour turned around, changed and saved through religion. Furthermore not only do relgous teachings restrain our corrupt passions and turn us into better people, but its often being found that in places such as gulags and concentration camps where good men where corrupted and became evil themselves that the relgous individuals where far less likey to become corrupt, sell themselves out or give up hope as was found by Alexander solzernitzin in the gulags and many others.
      So no your statement is so wrong its anti truth as it's the case most of us arnt truly good and we all posses a great capacity for evil, however religious belif is not only the best way to prevent us giving into these evil ways, but is the only force that turns evil men and bad men into good men.
      So the true quote should be that all good men are capable of evil but only religion turns bad men i to good men. And turn good men into better men, as good religouns encourage charity, humility respect love, and restrain us, without them man can quickly becomes the measure of all things Imperfect within himself as he holds only himself accountable not looking to the ideal and higher powers to judge and encourage his good behaviour.
      We see this allot today

    • @lukeblackman66
      @lukeblackman66 Год назад +4

      Understand. 1. Even if you think your good your very capable of evil, it doesn't take religion to do that to you its your nature.
      2. If you are bad even evil, relgous belif is the most powerrfull thing that can stop you from doing bad. We see this across history and today.
      3. If your normal you can become even better through giving yourself a God level accountability and responsibility to the universe and others, and restrain yiur passions
      Its no coincidence that the early philanthropists slavery ablosholnonists and the most charitable people were religius. Q
      Its often found that religius people are up to 3 times more charitable then atheists when surveyed, and the brutality of the communist and atheist systems, can as easily be justified by their lack of bekif in god far more than by the fanatics actions in the name of God, as there actually not justified in their religion and hes still held accountable to something. The prior is not.
      4. The humanistic belifs you have and our judicial system such as the equality of mankind, veiw of slavery as wring, proportionate justice, protecting and child murder, human rights and the humanist movement itself come from religous people and have the bible as its foundation. So many of the good we have done in today's society, has largely being done through irrational religius belif. It wasn't done through athiems, those movements were genocidal it wasn't done through science, they said te opposite and tried to use science to challenge religous belifs like the equality of man through evolution, eugenics and many others.

    • @redonk1740
      @redonk1740 Год назад

      @@lukeblackman66 Understand 1) agreed - the difference is religion gives people a false sense of vindication for doing evil as long as their religion says it's ok. You can use faith based religion to "justify" genocide. You cannot logically justify genocide. Period.
      2) If you are bad an evil, religious belief can be the most powerful thing that can encourage you to do bad. We see this across history and toady. Ever heard of the Crusades or 9/11?
      3) It's no coincidence that the early slave traders were religious, and "justified" in their actions according to Exodus 21. So miss me with that bs. If I hold a gun to your head and tell you to give everyone your money, that doesn't make you a good person for giving away all your money. Being charitable under threat of eternal violence is not comparible to charitable acts done by people on their own accord with their own free will without a lingering threat of violence.
      4) Anything good religions do is good on it's own merit. It's not good because a religion says so. It's not good because a religion does it. We do not need to be threatened into submission in order to be good - it is actually quite possible to be good for goodness sake. Of course humanism doesn't "come from" atheism - atheism isn't a religion. It's an answer to a question of belief and nothing more. Humanism/morality absolutely does NOT come from religion. "So many of the good we have done in today's society, has largely being done through irrational religius belif." If something is good, it's good because it can be shown to be good - through logically sound rational arguments. Occasionally accidently getting the right answer with the wrong method does not add any credibility to flawed logic (faith - aka belief without reason). If I go around feeding the homeless because satan told me to, that doesn't mean satan is real, or that my belief in satan is good. It's typical of religions to take credit for all the good and dismiss all the bad with special pleading, post hoc rationalizations, narrative fallacies..... yeah. You get the point. Or at least you should by now. If not, that's on you.

    I’ve met both there men. One of them while super pleasant to me, did something not so cool to one of my female friends. The other gave me free tickets to a sold out show in my hometown for my bday and got to him after the show. This one was amazing, did nothing creepy toward one of my female homies and he also has super dope hair. The other not only did something Pervy he also has beef with the sunshine....that says it all.

      To me, Jim seems to have an internal recognition of truth that he doesn't feel comfortable letting out. Likely a product of the entertainment industry environment.
