- The Chattanooga Zoo at Warner Park (formerly the Warner Park Zoo) is a 13-acre (5.3 ha) zoological park located in Warner Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The zoo was established in 1937 by the City of Chattanooga with the construction of two 4 by 6 feet (1.2 by 1.8 m) cages for rhesus monkeys. (An earlier zoo was established in 1900, Oxley Zoo, by Colonel F. G. Oxley of Bridgeport, Alabama when he donated $500 to open the first public zoo in Chattanooga. Oxley Zoo closed due to financial constraints in 1911.) The zoo has been accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) since 1998.
**Exhibits and facilities**
The most notable exhibit is the Himalayan Passage, which houses the zoo's red pandas. The exhibit boasts the largest indoor red panda exhibit in the world, despite the zoo being one of the smallest zoos accredited by the AZA. The Himalayan Passage passage was expanded in 2006 to include habitats for snow leopards and Hanuman langurs.
The Gombe Forest is a $2.1 million exhibit that is home to the zoo's chimpanzees. The Gombe Forest is an indoor/outdoor exhibit built in 2001 to house Hank, the zoo's long-time resident and seen in photo at right, as well as several other chimps. Hank, found in the rain forests of Africa in 1968, was donated to the zoo in 1976 and became the longest and most famous resident of the zoo before passing away of natural causes at age 42 on January 24, 2011. The Donovan Interpretive Center features an indoor chimpanzee viewing area and other small exhibits.
The Corcovado Jungle is home to animals from Latin America, including jaguars, spider monkeys, macaws, and capybaras.
Walkin' the Tracks holds the zoo's North American animals, including prairie dogs and white-tailed deer. The Cougar Express has indoor viewing in a train car for the zoo's cougars.
A new front entrance complex opened in 2008, and includes new parking areas, a gift shop, restroom facilities, a concessions pavilion, and an endangered species carousel.

Love your channel dude
Thank You 😁
Thanks for sharing
So, the cougars are CJ and Montana, one of them will patrol the fence while the other sleeps. The bobcats are also interesting, they were probably someone’s pets seeing that they are declawed. They are also in their double digits.
Thank You so much for sharing this info about the animals. This was a fun visit to the zoo.
Tom's Road Trippin no problem! I started working at this zoo a few months ago and love talking about it.
Love this ZOO
It was a nice zoo, for it's size they do a great job of creating a nice atmosphere.
All the tamarins were so curious on what the camera was. 😂
I've noticed those cute fuzzy critters are most curious. Some animals shy away but the tamarins run over for a closer look 😁
Glad you got to see the red pandas on your visit. I am actually going here today and have been here a lot. We don’t usually get to see them. There is a crow in an exhibit that actually says hello and it is so cool!
I had a lot of fun at this zoo. I was impressed with the number of animals they had for a smaller zoo. Have fun on your visit.
Beyond Walt Disney Planet thanks!
Thanks for being such a great zoo guide. Lots of unique animals that are very well taken care of very nice zoo thanks for sharing. 👍
This was a nice community zoo. On the smaller side but lots of animals.
Love
Just a little suggestion maybe you should go to Lincoln Park zoo it is nice ther😃
I'd like to visit this zoo some day, thanks for the suggestion 😊
What month are you coming at Colorado
May 2020 is the most likely time frame.
I suggest you go to Asia there are many aquariums and zoos there like SEA aquarium and Singapore Zoo
Highly recommended
That sounds great, One Day 😃
Ok then I subscribed
I've been there for a field Trip At my school And it was awesome but I didn't see that same things as you Probably they added some stuff there probably it was a long time ago I don't know
My tour was from 2017, I haven't been back since then. If your field trip was recent, I'm sure the zoo has changed. Hopefully it changed for the better. 😊
Dod you hear they are constructing a new Cape of Africa exhibit
That's great news, that zoo can really use some new areas.
I have 3 more zoo suggestions I think u shood go 2 if ur in the Pacific NW:
Oregon Zoo
Point Defiance Zoo
And Woodland Park Zoo
Thanks Trey, I'll look into them. Not sure when I'll get back out West but I plan to go through as much as I can when I get back there.
Go to the Bronx zoo it’s huge you will probably need to make 2 vidieos of it
Or go to the San Diego zoo safari
Both are in plans for future dates
Oh good Idea there both huuuuuuuuuuuuge parks
Their Dromedaries
One hump camel's 🐫
WHEN I WAS A KID it was FREE......And my mother play SOFTBALL for Memorial Hospital in the SAME PARK. And we would ALSO GO swimming ON THE REGULAR there too!!! * DEFINITELY NOT a ABANDONED CHILD HOOD: All THAT ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!
Warner Park certainly has lots if great stuff to do. I only had the time for the zoo but I'm glad you experienced other stuff there. Thanks for sharing your fond memories.
Also I remember you told me that its okay to give suggestions every once in a while but not constantly another question I have is it okay to let you know about attractions you should avoid or is that coming across as too controlling
If you see I'm considering going to someplace and you know something negative about it, it's alright to mention what you know
@@TomsRoadTrippin okay because I noticed on your itinerary that you were planning on visiting the DEW Haven Zoo in Maine which I have read reviews about that place and I read that they have their animals in small cages and the big cats look really depressed there have even been reports on them feeding the carnivores roadkill
One issue I ran into with Maine is the lack of animal attractions. This is the states only zoo and I'm not sure about the aquarium.
@@TomsRoadTrippin actually I did research and a decent Zoo I found was the Maine Wildlife Park near Portland to look into but if you would rather go to the DEW Haven one no pressure
I'll look into it, Thanks
Also did you know they got rid of their Pot-Bellied Pigs
I hadn't heard about that, thanks for the update
Hi Tom I've been meaning to ask you I got told by one of your subscribers that my suggestions have been becoming out of hand on your videos and that I was coming off as controlling and I just wanted to make sure if I was making you feel that way about at all and I just wanted to make sure to see how I was making you feel or if I was doing anything wrong
I don't mind an occasional suggestion, I welcome everyone's comments.
@@TomsRoadTrippin I do have a tendency to get carried away at times Im sorry if I was coming across as pushy or telling you what to do too much
I know you meant well, the occasional suggestion is fine
@@TomsRoadTrippin Thank you for accepting my apology also for future reference when you say occasional suggestions how long do you recommend I wait before I give them to you because I often give suggestions compulsively for a lot of things so I want to make sure I know when times are appropriate and when they wouldn't be
Since I recently listed my plans for my August roadtrip, that would be an appropriate time to give suggestions. I love to hear from everyone, anytime you may have a suggestion for an upcoming trip is welcome
Does that camel get paid by the hour?
I hope so, definitely deserving
Also their last Bobcat got euthanized
Now that is sad, I understand the health of the animals decline with age.
@@TomsRoadTrippin sad but true
