Same I’m 53 an I was born listening to him and Etta James two of Motown’s greatest sounds. I’m so lucky growing up in New Orleans. Because even as a white boy in the early 70’s people here listen to all music, and a huge part of that is because New Orleans is such a music centered city and culture. I remember even some of those old racist clowns would still be listening to traditionally black music as the called it but using the N word instead of black. I always loved music because it was something that brought people together
Such a great R&B soul singer songwriter from the 60's-80's. "Ain't No Sunshine" & "Lean On Me" are his 2 most famous songs but he had some other hits such as "Grandma's Hands", "Lovely Day", "Use Me", "Just The Two Of Us" etc. Sadly we lost him recently in 2020.
I 2nd “Just The Two of Us” for your next sampling of his music. 🥰 Lean on Me is great too, don’t get me wrong, but I love the former out of all proportion, lol.
BRO, Bill Withers is a bonafied Superstar! During Army basic marching drills, as a whole unit "Lean On Me," would sound out in unison, which has gotta be one of my all-time Bill Withers favorites! AB, you've GOTTA react to that, please! THANK YOU!
I've been waiting for you to get to him. My favorite singer-songwriter. Essential Withers tracks: The Live at Carnegie Hall concert recorded in 1972, though it's audio only, is still one of the greatest albums in history. for its long tracks and his speaking and interaction with the audience: "Grandma's Hands," "Lean on Me," "Hope She'll Be Happier," "Use Me," and "I Can't Write Left-Handed." On his "Just as I am" album, "Sweet Wanomi" and his cover of "Let It Be" (Beatles) are mindblowingly good.
I remember hearing this so often on the radio when I was young. Everyone knew the words and sang along to this. Great memories, great song. I counted 26 too!
Never ever get tired of Bill Withers . Been a favorite since I was 14 so 50 years,he’s on my playlist till I die ☮️
