This is one of my fav movies, funny yet a sad truth of some of our history in this country. The cast were pretty good, and the last segment about your mom cornbread just made me hungry.
By the time Ray (Eddie) stole his wallet, Claude had already had his money taken, so he couldn't pay his bill and that's how Spanky took him and was about to drown him. So regardless, Ray saved him from that. Of course, he saved him by having him be his partner on this trip to get the alcohol, which then led to them getting framed for that murder. It's a little hard to 100% blame Ray, though.
I do understand that Claude's life was about to "begin" in a way. But you have to remember Claude had a past and it caught up to him that night whether or not he ran into Ray. In fact he might have been killed that night if it wasn't for Ray
LIFE is one of those CLASSIC movies that after watching a hundred times, I only can watch half way through......Its SO fuckin hilariously funny, but SO fuckin sad/depressing......especially when they start aging. Makes you think of yourself getting old. Especially when Martin sees his reflection in that car window, sees how much he's aged. It ends great, but damn it sucks what they went through. Imagine all the truly innocent people in prison.......anyway.....Again, LEGENDARY movie, but sad as hell.....

He was in Dead President’s. You’ll notice that many black actors were recycled in these movies especially during the late 80’s and early 90’s. That’s how “closed” Hollywood was to African American actors. Thank God that you all are reviewing these movies 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
