"when you're working, work deeply; when you're sleeping, sleep deeply." such a great reminder to be present and 100% there. i've been feeling unmotivated and in a productivity rut, but this video has provided the guidance i've been needing. thank you so much, Rowena!
You nailed it with this comment! I used to struggle with getting guilt-free rest..the down time felt "wasteful" but I'm so glad I've changed my perspective around.
@@AlyciaBoutte thanks Alycia! So happy to hear that 😊 it's still an ongoing learning curve for me but I'm definitely getting better at it. I hope you have a great weekend
I do deep cleaning and run errands/be social on Saturday. My empty space is Sunday...I relax all day and that's it. I've learned to not be so strict with that schedule though.
I recently started watching your channel and i recently turned 24. I feel like I'm behind in life, no matter how much i achieve in life. It always seems so stressful. Watching you makes me feel like i have a sister/an adult to tell me things about how to do things in life. Thank you so much for making videos
Oh my goodness I love this idea! It’s so hard to balance productivity and self care and by the time you make the decision the weekend is over 😭. Thank you for this!
I was thinking the past few weeks that I really should have a routine on the weekend as well, because I'd come into Monday exhausted from completely breaking my weekday routine and staying up late on my phone! This is a great topic Rowena!
recently i watched a video about someone defending that the most important thing in life is to enjoy ourselves and it was a great point because we tend to get anxious and tired and worried about things that don't really matter and we lose ourselves in the process, so it's super important to take some moments to reflect and re-prioritize
I’ve recently started being a baker at a Japanese bakery. It’s very tiring. I’m also trying to work out my ideal life outside of work. My dream life. While also dealing with family issues that are bringing me down. I’m often just so tired. And my weekends are either ALL work or ALL rest, and either way I end up so upset with myself. These last couple weeks I’ve been wanting to develop a balanced weekend routine and this could NOT have come at a better time. Thank you, Ro. 🙏🏼
this is officially my favorite of all your published videos. you introduced me to the concept of slowing down and resting in a productive manner, and giiiiiiirl life has never been the same. thank you so much Ro. I needed this :)
Can we take a moment to appreciate the awesome jump transition to the couch?! 😁 Rowena, I really appreciate the authenticity in sharing some of the more challenging parts of your weekend when you didn't have to. I have the best weekends when I get my physical space together, do something social, meal prep, move my body, and reflect/ plan for the week ahead.
Promess: the content you make is up to you and me, as a watcher has the right to decide weather watching it or not, but not the right to tell creators what to do and what not. But I just wanted to say, I am happy to see you this "relaxed", loving your energy in the last videos. For a while, I dropped off your content and other productivity creators since the perfectionism portrayed in the videos gave me anxiety. Watching this channel rebuilding from a foundation of simplicity and happiness in all of his form makes me really happy. It now became a safe space where I can find myself in your words
As someone who is currently transitioning out of a season of my life in which I worked constantly and would feel guilty for resting (or feel like I needed to work extra hard to “earn” it), this was definitely what I needed to hear! Loved when you said “a weekend spent proactively being a potato is just as productive as a weekend spent working” - need to write that down and put it on my bathroom mirror :) - Em
This video was like a much need warm hug in amidst of all the choas I was going through. Thankyou for being so magical. Because your videos always make me feel as if you just saw what problems I was going through and offered me your help.
my routine has been saturday is our day to go out, something fun-often a adventure somewhere -family time/mental break..........sunday is rest/prep day - i get up, workout, spend several hours relaxing (watch youtube vlogs/video games/reading). spend a bit of time cleaning (a hour), food shop..and then prep for the week. often a fun supper (pizza, burgers, tacos) and a movie is evening plan----do laundry daily ppl, dont leave it piling up
this was my hint from the universe. i had the struggle with overplaning and then cancelling on people for the whole summer and it nearly lead me into a burn out. it's so important to listen to your need and not squeez in every thing possible. thank you for this video I really need to pay more attention to actually resting
I had several breakdowns from burn out this past week, which was definitely the universe's (not so subtle) hint of telling me to be still. the idea that rest can in turn make you more productive, sounds so counterintuitive but that really is the way it works. rowena, thank you for this sweet reminder to let our souls rest 🤍
I'm early for once! I was just thinking that I wanted to have a productive weekend, and then this video pops up. Thank you for all your effort and all your content Rowena! Forever grateful
I love your videos so much. Often I get into a rut and then somehow one of your videos shows up on my recommended. Every time it happens I break down into tears because it’s always exactly what I’m going through and exactly what I need right at the moment but it’s always so hard to make that change or to be nice to myself. When I see your videos, it soothes my soul and reminds me that I’m worth it, and that I’m only human and that’s okay. Thank you so much for always sharing this part of yourself with us. It means so much to people like myself who need a reminder that they aren’t alone 💜
I always get so much out of your videos Rowena! I’ve struggled for a long time to figure out balance/rest/productivity on the weekends, and this video is just perfect. Thank you for giving such good insights while staying realistic - I always leave with a sense of whimsy and inspiration after watching your videos. They remind me to slow down, do the work but be gentle with myself, and enjoy life 💕
I just spent a weekend dog sitting while binge-watching This Is Us (every episode is tearful therapy for me). Ate awesome, healthy, homemade food already all pre-made (in a 4+ hour epic cooking session I did during the week) so easy to just heat up and no grocery shops needed. Walks 3 times a day (and sometimes dog park) on a schedule for the dog added good little light outdoor exercise routine and structure. Ignored my phone basically other than to update the dog parent and a supportive phone call. So huge break from internet, networking, research projects, big life decisions, and phone screen. Went to a farmers market. That was it. Simple weekend and it was such a recharge. While making money for hanging with an awesome, cuddly dog and a really nice change of environment. Was also 100% break from driving car and any hunting out city parking spots. Just parked in same spot all weekend and only transportation was my feet and body which felt great.
This is so true. I manage my own time and I can ruin a weekend by thinking "I'll do it later" and postponing an easy task through the entire thing, thereby feeling guilty and never resting or enjoying it fully. So just starting, even if it's half-assed, makes the rest of my weekend so much better!
I never, never have thought in the word productivity in relation of a weekend. It's so depressing think in be productive in a weekend. It's time to relax and fun!
I love this video! I got my first 9-5 job in the industry I've been trying to get into for years and I love it, but my weekends have felt so chaotic and all over the place since I started. I've been trying to cram catching up with everyone, having me time/meditating and self care, chores workouts and my side writing stuff all into my weekends and it's just so stressful. This video is such a help!! Definitely have some good tips now going forward. Thank you🥺
I’ve only watched two of your videos and I feel like you’re going to change my life, I feel like no one understood me until I saw just a few of your videos. I felt so alone you’re helping me so much so thank you. I’m literally crying while typing this. You have my lifetime subscription 🥺💕
I never ever have felt so depply catched in the first seconds of a video i absolutely identify me in everything you said there every week i am so looking forward to everything i am able to do on the weekend and then i never actually get to do anything and it’s Monday again😅
I think my main problem is that I spend too much time not doing much. I think slow productivity could help me to balance my rest time out more so that I’m not wasting my time doing aimless things. I can spend so many hours on my phone a day (I’m talking up to 5 hours or more here) and not have got anything done in both my weekdays and weekends. I think it’s still important that I have rest periods cos of my health issues but I need them to be more spaced out and I need to be doing more meaningful things in my life. Thanks Ro for sharing your thoughts on slow productivity! I’d never heard of it before you started talking about it on your channel and it makes me want to experiment with it in my life more :)
I just wanna say that I love ur mind, ur soul and it being.. I've been a fan since years back, but I rarely comment and I have three accounts and I sub from all of them on your channel.. I wish you the best of life.. Thank you for existing..
The whole tone and vibe of this video was so healing for me! I love self help and optimizing my life but most routine videos are so geared towards the “ideal” self rather than the moody, complex human self. Subscribed!!
Great video Rowena! Such an overlooked routine of the weekend but essential to our wellness, responsibilities and fun. You can have it all just not all at once. Be here now.
Inspiring. I’ve heard time and time again that to plan out your free time gives you good reenergized free time. Doing this is a bit of a struggle though. Like giving myself hours of ”allowed” tv time instead of having them but most of the time trying to make myself something ”useful”. Something for next week when hopefully my covid is gone. Blessed for vaccine and a milder version than when I got it 2020.
Rowena I loved this video! You always strike a beautiful balance between informational, reflective, and entertaining! I’m heading into a busy senior year of college, and I know I’m going to have a lot on my plate. I really want to make sure I can get everything done, but still make time for rest and fun! This video is super helpful and one I’m sure I’ll return to it :)
I really enjoyed this video. It came at the right time for me, so thank you. Also, thank you for the footage of NYC. It's a city I love and miss. I've only been as a visitor on holiday, but it enchanted me. Thank you xx
We are so similar, Rowena! I have always been pushing myself and I have been thinking about weekend routine yesterday. For me, morning for laundry and grocery, then time for work out, side hustle and me time🥰
This is one of my fave videos of yours. ❤️ It is very relatable. Life is not always rainbows and butterflies, but the best part is, we always have the choice to "pick up the towel" and turn things around. 😊
Rowena, I'd love to learn how to "plan my week", I feel I am too ambitious and can't find the right balance between what I must do and what I can phisically actually do. Ily
Thank you loved this. I needed to hear/watch this today. I need to communicate what I need for the Weekes so I don't melt down on Sundays. Working on getting out a funk and I loved your ideas. Thank you for sharing
Somehow you have successfully described exactly how I feel in your intro.... I didn't think anyone else felt this way except me. I just assumed that everyone has their ish together and has every minute of their weekend mapped out. Be tee dubs, I love this video! This is my first time watching your videos 🥳
thank you for this! i’ve been trying to figure out how to not feel so overwhelmed with life. this is so helpful in a time where we’re pressured to be hyper productive. balance is the goal & your work is so inspiring. much love from guam

1 - Reframe what "productive" looks like
2 - Draft a detailed plan (loosely held)
3 - Whatever you gotta do, have fun with it
4 - Find pockets of stillness amidst "doing"
5 - Give yourself grace (re: loosely held)
6 - Accountabilty helps
7 - When you're out, be out
8 - When life happens, let it happen
9 - Pay attention to the (not so) subtle hints
10 - Pick up the towel
11 - Schedule time for empty spaces

LOVED the message in this video. Getting guilt free rest is such a necessity to prevent burnout and feeling happy ❤️
