- Bipin Rawat becomes India's first CDS. This marks the fulfillment of PM Narendra Modi's announcement of the position during Independence-day address in 2019. Rawat was commissioned into the Army in December 1978 and was serving as Chief of Army Staff since January 1, 2017 before being anointed as the CDS chief.

If this was done after the Kargil war as suggested we would have averted Indian Parliament attack and there would have been much fewer casualties on 26/11.

So CDS became the senior of Army Chief, Air force Chief and Navy Chief.
This is injustice to chiefs of Army, Navy and Air force.
Why only to appoint Army General as CDS?
He is still a 4-star general though...so if any 5-star general comes in any services they will be senior to the CDS.
You may hate the BJP to their very core or fanatically love them but you can agree that they have taken the much needed drastic security measures that should’ve been implemented immediately after Kargil. The army is also getting more advanced weapons and better quality defense equipment.

People who are accusing other Parties which ruled India should know one this. Why India never chose for CDS . It's because our experts never wanted a single person to have power of all the forces in bad scenarios there could be a military coupe funded by other countries can happen ,which has happened several times, in past . That was the only reason behind not having CdS before , but itss okk we trust or people and forces . Jai hind
Not so sure about having a singular advisor with regards to nuclear warheads.
Nuclear matters man is always done when PM is around.
CDS is for operational military needs likes procurement of tanks, guns and the most important synergy between equipments as well as forces.
Nuclear weapons can be used only by the ADVISE of PM of India...
