January 2025 Book of the Month Recap Discussion - Chp. 19-End

🚨**SPOILER ALERT!!!**🚨
Marielle and Megan discuss chapters 19-End of January's BotM, Forever Your Rogue by Erin Langston.

Mrs. Carleton tells Cora some important papers of her husband's have come up missing, and she wants Cora to talk to her staff. Cora trusts her staff implicitly, so she isn't really concerned about it.

One day Cora and Nate find themselves alone in the house, and they get down in the library and it's 🔥🔥. Nate tells Cora he loves her. Without condition. Even if she doesn't say it back.

A few days later, Tess gets hurt while the kids and Nate are playing pirates, and Mrs. Carleton FREAKS OUT. She says she and her husband are leaving early, and Cora has proved herself unfit, so Mrs. Carleton expects Cora to deliver the kids to her in London in 2 weeks. Cora is distraught.

The next morning, after an emotional night together, Cora finds her in-laws' missing papers in Nate's nightstand. He explains his suspicions to her and how he needs to get the info to her brother in London. He feels she doesn't trust him, and maybe doesn't love him, and they're in a bad place when he has to leave.

Nate and Gavin come up with a plan to impersonate Mr. Carleton at the bank, to try and get proof that he's been stealing money from Leo's accounts. It works, and Gavin leaves the bank with the proof, but Nate gets detained by security.

It's been 3 days with no word from Nate, and Cora is beside herself. Then Gavin shows up to tell her the good news. They have everything they need to bury the Carletons, and he's filed all the appropriate paperwork. Gavin is shocked that Nate hasn't already been there, as he should've had a 2 day head start! Cora knows she pushed him away, and now she thinks he's not coming back.

Turns out Nate is on house arrest at the local magistrate's house, until they can get in contact with his brother. He wants to write to Cora but they don't allow it.

Cora goes into Nate's bedroom at her house, and finds the love letters to her in his nightstand. She reads them, and sobs her heart out, and realizes HE LOVES HER. If he hasn't come back, it is because something is WRONG. She needs to get to London ASAP.

Nate's brother finally gets back in town, and comes to the rescue. They finally come to terms with each other and it's very moving.
*
Cora and her brother arrive to Nate's brother's house to ask for his help. As soon as he walks in she starts talking, and then she sees Nate. They make up from their fight, and he gives her an EPIC speech. Extremely swoony.

The Earl lets Cora know he helped expedite the process to get she and her brother named as the kids' guardians. She's thrilled, and she wants to tell the Carletons herself. It is EXTREMELY satisfying.
*
They live Happily Ever After, obvs! Then there's an epilogue 20 years in the future, which is a complete delight.
