Lyrics:
Oh glorious father, where have you been?
I've been fighting for all of my sins
Mindless games and weary dreams
This madness comes from within
Oh how did you leave me here see that day
The soldiers took my rose away
They beat and battered, tore and shattered
My innocence was lost this way
They say the devil had their souls
The night they took away my rose
The fire, it burned so damn cold
At the Massacre of El Kuroke
And I was just a little boy
I dreamed of playing with flowers and toys
But now I only see death
When a boys lover is ripped away
He pulls out his guns play
Until everyone is dead
They say the devil had their souls
The night they took away my rose
The fire, it burned so damn cold
At the Massacre of El Kuroke
At the Massacre of El Kuroke
Well that's the way it had to be
I grew up at the count of three
Got no reason to repent
They say a man is born to kill
He learns his trade it becomes a thrill
That's what they did to me then
Well, that's the way it had to be
I grew up at the count of three
Got no reason to repent
They say a man is born to kill
He learns his trade it becomes a thrill
That's what they did to me then
They say the devil had their souls
The night they took away my rose
The fire, it burned so damn cold

My Favorite Song by The Dead South, so much story in this one.
Yes!
I'm sure you've heard broken cowboy, but have you seen the live studio performance.

It's really something special.
Yeah mate ,love a good story teller ,this band has a good ear for a story ,check out Marty Robbins , el paso , if you like a song that tells a tail ,this one is a old one but a good one !
@@TheDeadite76 I love El Paso! It even mentions certain landmarks if I remember correctly as well.
one thing I love about this band is the way they sing. A lot of vocalists sing the same way every single song. The way they change their pitch, tempo, and pauses during different portions of the songs just puts them a cut above the average.
yep.
No two TDS songs are quite the same, and yet all are very much The Dead South
I've just recently gotten into this band and I'm blown away at how awesome they are! Every song is just as good as the last! Thank you RUclips for the recommendation!!
Seconded. They are superb.
Thirded if that's a word, these guys are amazing
Quartered? Quarted? Whatever it is I agree
Algorithms. Wonderful, ain't they😉👍??
Mf'ing algorithm ass matrix shit if you ask me buuuuuut yeah GREAT recommendation 😂
Oh my heart! Blimey, this song is just perfect.
The banjo, the mandoline, the guitar, the chello, the lyrics and of course Nate's very special vocal - a mix of bliss!
Once I've managed to move beyond enjoying the tune and all it has to offer, the lyrics sinked in.
Quite simply a masterpiece.
I love Aussies 😂
Blimey???? As in 'Limey'????
Saw them several weeks back at a tiny sold out Legion Hall in St. Catherines Canada...fantastic...just think a band that can play live as good or better than the recordings!! God Bless The Dead South!
mookie7475 they are coming to the uk and I am going to see them in February... really looking forward to it 😊
@@chrissturgess4323 to
Only band better than them is old crow medicine show. nothing beats the origins but this comes close.
One of the best bands I have ever seen also one of the best atmospheres I had the pleasure to enjoy clutching my 4 pint pitcher and cigar ! Singing my heart out !! Loved it . couldn't believe my luck when they came to England and the gig was 4 days before our first national lockdown !!! Close call !
It a haunting song that sticks in your head. One of my favorites now.
Sweet Lord Jesus my ears my ears I tell you.... so much bliss
Lucifer knows our pain he is fair!
Every human being should hear this. RESPECT.
Thank You, guys.
Beautiful music, fabulous voice, thank You.
Yup. My teenage daughter introduced me to this song. I was just like "damn".
Absolutely killer performance by these GEMS in Richmond, VA the other weekend. Beautiful music, and the lights/ visual aspects were EXCELLENT too! They had 4 giant tombstones with led lighting and stained glass. So cool. Thanks for a great show!
Have seen the Dead South twice in the last year. Both shows were an absolute blast. Buy tickets now if they coming to your town. Get close if you can, as long as you can see I pretty much guarantee it'll be a great show.

I just absolutely love how haunting the violin resonates
Cello?
@@doglover31418 I was almost that guy too haha
To be fair, that cello part played with the bow is pretty much in the normal note range of a violin, which puts it fairly high up on the cello's range.
You guys brought a new resonance through my soul.
Oh man, this one has such and emotive and melodic vibe, that I never imagined I'd hear from a country band. Great stuff.
This songs here for me rn when the ones I care about, ain't reciprocating. I'll forever be grateful for this.
Супер! Ніколи не слухав блюграс до вас.
i rlly like this music i listen to it every day and never seem to get board of it

Muy buena música que ustedes tienen saludos desde México y tienen nuevo fan suerte
The El Mozote Massacre took place in and around the village of El Mozote, in Morazán department, El Salvador, on December 11, 1981...WIKIPEDIA...true story
and 2 days later I was born!!
mr smith? beyond? ssms?
El Mozote but not El kuroke
They say that's why we got MS-13, the El Salvador civil war that is. So it goes, pain makes musc thrive.
@@kriegerjager3793 pretty sure they're related. It's about a young man having his lover dragged away by soldiers before he was beaten senselessly and she was killed; basically exactly what happened at El Mozote, where soldiers forced men and women women/children to seperate before brutalizing them both, except to my knowledge El Mozote had no survivors. He then presumably joins the opposite side of the civil war to get revenge.
Y'know I'm very happy to be born in this time period but hearing such beautiful and good music makes ye sad when ye realize future will probably never get the chance to hear these types of songs
Beautiful song, thank you
Freaking Awesome, Great Job Boys!!
fantastic song keep them coming boy's.
Thanx these guys are Great
oh wow I so love this song. ❤
Preach it sister!
Love this song
A murder ballad about love, murder and bloody revenge... awesome!
Except in real life no one was ever held accountable, no one ever had revenge for the massacre. Three days of rape torture and murder. And it’s all at our feet as Americans. We trained the soldiers, helped cover up the massacre and have to this day not aided the victims in getting justice.
Beautiful.
Your music is great. This is real art. I would love to watch you live.
Greetings from Brazil!
just found y'all, really digging in.
Great Job Boys!!!
This was incredible, made me sad but I loved it.
The song gives me a sad feeling with its lyrics.
The last time I was this early I arrived within a measure of time approximate to this one. '
Gorgeous song! :)

This song sticks out to me the most guys. Keep it up
The old way still lives.
A great song...the voice makes it coming real....When reading the description on wiki and listening this song makes me freeze...as a long live serving former german mountain trooper I am ashamed of "soldiers" doing thinks like that. It´s just unbelievable, that men are able to do this. I can`t understand. Well done....good to give this poor lads from Kuroke a voice!
Just discovered The Dead South, such a mash of a lot of influences i love, yet, unique. Vocals et al are class. anyone know why the Bass/Vocals have changed?
There are four members of the band and three of them do vocals depending on the song or verse of the song not sure about the bass though he plays the cello not an actual bass And recently the cello player left the band due to sexual assault allegations
As a die hard metal fan, these guys f*ckin rock.
waah~ more Dead South music!! yay, oh glorious day!

Y’all should come to Texas
Someone, probably: I want a cowboy themed band with a drop of metal, a dash of fantasy, and they should all look and sound like they're from the 18'th century.
The person's friend: No such band could possibly -
RUclips: it's ok, I have his order right here

Thanks for the lyrics Irish and Lina.
Got your tickets yet for Waterloo Ontario November 13th yet??? Look for the Turtle Crossing sign at the event!
Does anyone know what instrument is providing the “electronic” sounding part? My fist thought was an electric keyboard, but there are a couple slurs that I don’t think keyboards are quite capable of (in my somewhat limited understanding)
My other thoughts are a slide guitar or possibly even a theramin ??
I don’t hear this sound on other live recordings of this song.
Pedal Steel, played by Ian Cameron, according to the album liner.
Can anyone tell me the instrument that comes in at 01:58? Sounds a bit like a tin whistle to me
So much fucking emotion in this
