Rainer, I love your videos. I just signed up for your Udemy course because the work you put into these has saved me far more than the cost of the course. I like the youtube versions too though because you didn't try and clean up little slip ups. Watching someone that has a lot of experience with a tool still work through little issues is a great way to learn. Thanks for all the work on this!
I followed successfully until 9:09 when the link did not follow through to the archive as expected. This was quickly fixed by M-x org-id-update-id-locations. I guess this should probably end up in my .emacs. Great series, much appreciated - thanks Rainer!
Rainer, thank you so much for a both interesting and entertaining episode! I'm on the journey of getting better with orgmode (not step by step but snippet by snippet)
I found an `org-id-update-id-locations` function, which may be used to re-generate the UUIDs after one migrating to a new machine? Haven't tested myself. Also, according to this SO answer [emacs.stackexchange.com/a/51761/26737], if I set `org-id-link-to-org-use-id` to 'create-if-interactive, then I can call `org-store-link` on a heading, that will automatically create a new UUID if there isn't one. Then I can `org-insert-link` somewhere else that UUID. I guess that is kind of similar to your own implementation?
Bin begeistert. Gruß Till
I want to mention here that I had to manually create the file in org-id-locations-file first before I could generate IDs, to wit: $ >~/.emacs.d/.cache/.org-id-locations
Thanks so much Rainer, I love your id config. Is there a way to configure the id to be YYYYMMDDHHMMSS I don't know elisp, but I'm sure it should be simple enough! Thank you so much!
Hi Santi, I never thought about replacing the unique IDs, but there is a blog post that could show a way how to do it: writequit.org/articles/emacs-org-mode-generate-ids.html
@@koenighaunstetten thanks Rainer, I'll check it out! your videos have helped me so much, plus your name is awesome haha Rainer Maria Rilke is my favorite writer!
