Your daughter is amazing -- learning young to be handy is a gift, and your support of her desire to do it herself is laudable. She clearly knows you are just joshing her, nice way to use humor to teach responsibility and skills.
Thank you for this! Gonna try it right now. Kudos to having your daughter clean up the mess she made. It’s great to have children do things they can handle. As long as it’s safe.
This works!! I saw this and immediately tried it on my natural hardwood floor with paint that's been stuck on for about a decade. It took a little bit of elbow grease, but I'm thrilled. I have a few spots around the house that I just figured I'd have to live with until we had the time to refinish the floors. I'm so excited I no longer have to! And to those freaking out about the water on the hardwood, it sits there for literally seconds before it's wiped up and completely dry again... Relax.
This was a huge help. My 10 y/o daughter similarly got paint on the hardwood floors while painting her room. We used a steam iron over a wet rag to loosen the drops of latex paint. It worked.
This is the video/content that deserves the MILLIONS OF VIEWS AND LIKES that the howcast or other highly viewed channels have - because they didn’t solve my problems in any way shape or form (they “spilled” white paint on a piece of paper and tried to show us how to remove it 😂😂.. and I’m genuinely so glad that I found this video and I genuinely hope that you get the recognition that you deserve as you have really helped me so much! AND you didn’t DRAG me through some kind of long as* video with A RUBBISH conclusion… thank you for being so real, humble and straight to the point! Thanks sir and I wish your family all of the best ❤❤❤
Just tried this today. Didn’t have a steamer, but boiled a pot of water. Poured it on the floor, let it set for a minute or two, and wipe. Thanks so much for this video🫶🏽
@@lavag1rl646 yes just took a cup to pour it on the spot where the paint is and let it sit for a minute. It’ll look like it’s peeling then take a towel and wipe
Genius!! I'm hoping this works on primer too. I spilled a whole cup of it on my wood floor yesterday. I got most of it up with a lot of elbow grease but there were some stubborn spots. I like the fact that you are making her clean up the rest. Excellent parenting :)
I never for one moment thought this would work. I painted the side of my house and got some paint spots on my deck, which I am going to waterproof soon. Boy was I wrong! It worked great and now I can finish my deck! Thank you so much!!!
So, while painting our office in preparation for converting it into a office/nursery for our upcoming granddaughters arrival this April, I accidently stepped in some paint that had landing on the plastic sheeting I had placed on the hardwood floor, to avoid getting paint on the floor, lol. Not having a steamer available, I used a clothes iron. Worked awesome! Thanks for the incredible tip!!
I love you! My daughter just kindly decorated the living room but as she's not an expert got paint all over the floor, I tried white spirit to no avail, so went on youtube and there you were! Our Hero!!!
Thank you!!! My husband has no patience and said screw it with the prep work to paint our house!! Needless to say there is paint everywhere including LVT! Acetone and googone worked a littlr but it's still in the grooves! I'm try this method
Thank you for this, I’ve just lifted a fitted carpet that I inherited with my house, the previous owner clearly used a roller to paint walls and ceilings and didn’t bother covering the floor so it’s literally covered in paint! To save money I wanted to try and clean off the existing laminate flooring rather than purchase new! I have a steam mop so I’m going to try this!
OMG! I own a cleaning business and cleaning paint off the floor is time consuming you have made life so much easier bless you and your daughter...Thank you!
Great thinking, dad! My 12 year old did an amazing job like your daughter, but also got the floors real good! I wonder if super hot water on a rag would do a similar trick.
Thank you sir I remodeled the bathroom I put flooring in first instead of painting walls I got a few paint drops soon as you said I hate ironing I knew I had to watch I’ll give it a try god bless you and your family
WOW WOW WOW !! I tried it and it worked only thing I didn't have a steamer so I used my iron the steam part and wow it sure worked .Thank you so much I was wondering what I was going to have to buy to remove the paint drips . You have a beautiful daughter and I know she did a great job in painting and rmoving the paint off the floor.
I am so glad I found this video!!!! I just did the same thing - let my 14 year old and 12 year old daughters paint their room!! The were supposed to cover the floor and they did not. We have a steamer - hopefully that will fix the problem.
Oh man! Love to you and your family from England. We've just finished a loft conversion and couldn't paint until after the new floor went down. Blotches of paint everywhere. Your tip just saved me a day of my life.
This definitely works, what I also found was that after heating with steam, a plastic scraper can be used to dislodge the paint spot off the floor. Use plastic or some other material that is softer than the floor so there is smaller risk of scratching and coming into the spot at a relative low angle between the floor and scraper. Then use a towel or vacuum to collect the dislodged paint spots.
Good job for letting her do her own walls. And good job on teaching her consequences of having to clean up a her own mess. She did a great job and she picked a lovely color. She is less mess than I am when I paint. Hahaha Just a friendly suggestion from one parent to another... ( My kids are all grown up now) Look for the good in them and tell them what a good job they have done & they will rise up to meet your expectations. I know how it is to work 3rd shift and finding a mess like paint on the floors isn't fun to wake up to but praise first then ( as you did) help her discover a solution. Great job to your independent kiddo and good job to you Dad for helping her find a solution.
My grandson painted my kitchen but didn't bother about the floor, thinking I was replacing it. I'm not but now it's covered in paint blotches. I've tried to wash it off to no avail but will try the steamer as it looks to work brilliantly. Thank you for the tip.
I will try this now and be back!! I have stains all over my room. I just tried it, it takes a lot of time to remove small stains and very small ones still wont be removed easily but thank you for the video was somehow helpful
Nice job on the paint job girly 😊 & thank you sir for sharing this amazing hack. I’ve been trying everything to get the paint off from floors without ruining them! Total life saver!

🙌🙌🙌 just saved me so much work. Thankfully I have vinyl plank floors so they do fine with water. But I used my steam cleaner with a little brush head and was able to scrub it all away including out of the cracks and wood grain with very little effort!
Worked great! I was skeptical, but I bought a steamer and holy crap, it worked! Makes sense if you think about it. You clean you brushes with warm water vs cold and it cleans your brushes quickly. Thanks for the tip kind sir....
Heat/steam is not good for laminate of any kind. It will cause it to warp. I just watched another video where the guy showed how it came off easily with vinegar or laminate cleaner and a soft cloth. I also have the plastic paint scraper, which works well.
