- We bred Yvonne. Herma bought her a few years ago. Yvonne lives near us, so we can visit her every now and then. A few weeks ago I brought my namesake Yvonne to Stal Chardon. Today she goes for the inspection.

When I first saw Friesien horses, I knew I was seeing the most beautiful, regal horses with their flowing mane and long tail. When they trot they are a poem with only sweet words. I love everything about them.

Herma and Yvonne are partnership goals. I could totally imagine Yvonne sleeping at the bottom of the bed if she was a dog! You breed such wonderful animals - whether they're breeding standard or to bring pleasure to people like Herma, they all seem so psychologically healthy, open to humans and affection. Worth every penny I imagine. I hope they never know any different.
What a beautiful mare Yvonne is! And what a proud moment for everyone involved! It must be wonderful to have the joy of seeing a foal from your own stable mature, find a happy, lovely home with other horse friends to play with, and get to follow their journey and still see them from time to time. Yvonne is clearly well-loved and high-spirited! An absolute joy to witness!

I continue to be impressed by how the Friesian Dutch value their traditions, while remaining open to change and progress. It’s like seeing all of the beautiful, tidy historic villages with old houses that have installed hi tech solar panels.
I love the bowler hats on the judges, the whites worn by the handlers, and how the higher echelon inspections can fill an arena of enthusiastic Frieslanders who are proud of their heritage, and involved in keeping it going.
It’s also lovely how much human Yvonne cares for any horse who was born at Stal G. She follows up on their progress, and is so clearly invested in the quality of their lives. Yvonne is a horsewoman like no other-a true gift to horses, and Rein!!

That wasn’t a walk it was a royal strut! What a beauty Yvonne is like her namesake. Little did I know that I was adding 5 more kids to our family when we bought a pony for our youngest son, then a rescue, then my dream horse & finally 2 adorable miniature horses before my sweet husband said no more. Children and horses all equally precious.

Thank you for rescuing horses. Sometimes there fate can turn fatal. Being sold at a slaughter house for there meat. When humans fail to realize that these horses can live for 30+ years. That they are costly and require so much attention because they are so super smart and a wonderful companions to us humans.
Us humans are the ones that usually let them down.
So kind hearted people like you a greatly needed in the horse world.
People are unaware of the slaughter houses and that the horse is completely aware of what’s happening to them when being weighed in for there meat while being led by a human who they thought they could trust.🥺💔💔💔💔

@@kellyb1420 Pretty Pearl was a standardbred pacer who was cantankerous & way too much horse for me. But, she turned into a sweet, loving, gentle lady and we had her until she was 30yrs. 4 mo. almost 18 yrs.
I can’t take the heartbreak of where too many horses end up either. Wish I could do more but turning 70
this month & can’t keep up the level of work required to give them the lives they deserve. Only the minis are left, Jewel 23 & Misty 18, just the right amount of chores for Grandma. 😂 It was a privilege 👍🏾better

@@kellyb1420 As always, many of us hear and support your message. Been in 2 of those s. houses and still can't get it out of my mind. You have a big heart, Kelly, and continue to bring attention to the issue. One rescue group in TN has saved thousands. They get weighed in and the vet is there right away. Even the one-eye horses get adopted. Thank you for your vigilance and TLC.
Do the handlers play a big part in how the horses are scored? Are there any model horses now? How common are they? Well, Yvonne is GORGEOUS!! She looks perfect to me!! Friesian horses and Clydesdale horses are my absolute favorites!! Sorry, the Clydesdales is an "American thing" for me...LOL. I grew up watching the Budweiser Clydesdales at our state fair or wherever I could see them. Their "thunder" as they came into the arena is just something I will never ever forget. Such precious precious memories watching them with Dad, Mom and my brother. Both of my parents are gone now.
Since I started watching Friesian Horse videos I have grown very fond of everything the videos include, the people, the facility, Friesland, and most importantly the horses. In the very short time I found myself cheering for Yvonne, the horse, and Herma and her family. I wish all of them a good future.

Yes, it was the day after... and my son Teije and our dog Dieuwke were sleeping in the car during inspection (windows open and safe distance, so no worries)
And my son Rein was at school.
And when I went home again, the owner of RS called me.
So it was a very special day!

@@greghammer4000 Yvonne certainly acted with "grace under pressure." She is an example for all of us.
Very difficult time with the wind and other distractions. How the handler doesn't get run over is a miracle. Yvonne's confirmation also played a big part in the decision. Devil is in the details!

Yvonne (the horse) was so beautiful. What a transformation. She looked slimmed down and meticulously groomed. Yvonne strutted her stuff. She did look new to this event and a little shy and nervous but she was amazing. She did great. She made the stud book. I have feeling if she tries again next year she will be more at ease and able to be her fabulous self.
Yes, agree. With a LOT of repetition for what she'll be asked to do at the Judging, I think she can move up to a 🌟 ranking. She was very excited & the wind made her get extra frisky, as it does with all healthy horses!
Yvonne was nervous to leave her home obviously. She sweated like she ran a marathon while transporting. . Herma was anxious too. So Yvonne came across as tense during inspection. Surprise! So as Yvonne grows accustomed to being transported and being in a new environment, the more likely it is she will truly be able Elton show her most impressive self.
What a striking looking mare - a credit to your breeding program Yvonne ! I don't think she showed her best - quite bouncy - maybe the wind and the fun she was having . As noted the grooming of this mare was superb .

She is absolutely gorgeous! I'd be exceedingly proud her if she was mine. I have finally been able to catch what I've suspected, all for feet are off the ground at the same time when in trot, they look like they float. I swear they are thinking "I'm beautiful & I know it, just watch me move."

Yes...We need the names frequently. Pretty soon, I could recognize a feature or two unique to certain horses. Otherwise, I would have to say "Oh I like that one over there, the black one" 🤣

Yvonne looked as if she had been for a Spa beauty treatment! She did very well considering how windy it was and she looked so happy to be back in the meadow with her friends. I bet she was telling them all about her Spa day and the inspection and they would have been a little jealous of how beautiful she was looking! 🐴⭐

I am shocked that Yvonne did not become a star! She’s gorgeous. Not blaming the handlers but just as with horses, some are better than others. Yvonne is truly stunning.

What could the handler have done differently?
That's the million dollar question, Angela and I admittedly don't know the ins and outs of the inspection process but Yvonne seemed a bit distracted at times and the handler, who is supposed to control that, seemed a bit uncomfortable (to me, just my opinion). I can't help but wonder if Yvonne was picking up some negative vibes through the rein held by the handler. One little accidental jerk, he might not have been feeling well or a thousand things can happen between the handler and the horse. No one knows for sure except Yvonne and the handler. Yvonne seemed so calm and confident when she came into the arena and (to me) seemed to become more anxious as the process progressed. Bottom line, it's the handler's job to make the horse look good, it's not the horse's job to make the handler look good. My experience comes from showing dogs and a good handler makes all the difference in the world. If Yvonne had come into the arena dancing and hopping around, I wouldn't wonder as much. Cheers.

It is a little sad that Yvonne (the mare) was so hyped during the inspection. I think she walked better before the inspection started, but when she knew she'd be allowed to run, she just wanted to go. So her walk and trot became a little short and off balance. She is really cute and maybe - if she calms down - show her again next year?
You did a great job with her, she built up a lot of muscle due to training. Really pretty horse and I think Herma will love training her. Yvonne seems so willing to cooperate and to do her best. That is a really nice trait in a horse.
