In some comments, people depicting bengali as the second language of AXOM, for them there is a clarification. In Axom there is only one language, which is assamese (far older than bengali), bengali neither second nor third or any other numbered language followed by. If there is to be considered any language as the second language, it would be Mishing, tiwa, bodo, tai ahom, karbi, koch, rabha etc so on so forth. We don't need any outsider's language to be considered as the second language. We have ample number of our own ethnic languages.

Bengali became the other official language of Assam in 1961 after the Bengali Language Movement protest in the Barak Valley against the decision of the Government of Assam to make Assamese the only official language of the state even though a significant proportion of population were Bengali-speaking. However, having said that, complying to the demands of the protest, although Bengali did get the recognition as one of the official languages of Assam, but it is restricted to Barak valley and its adjoining areas. So 'Guwahati International Airport' in Assamese should be 'গুৱাহাটী আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দৰ'.
