Definitely I'm amateur enthusiast. I love watches because my grandfather and since then I like to read about brands and watches that I like or find interesting, i love that there is a story behind and for example, in the case of the Speedmaster, the story behind it is exciting and hardly comparable. Many thanks Andy for another great and interesting video.
Indeed, watch aficionados focus on a specific type of collecting watches & esoteric knowledge, mostly themed-collections: pilot watches, dive watches, Speedmasters only, etc... We like the easy style of this video, so certainly looking forward to some more content during the Christmas period... Keep up the good work !
While values are not the most important, during Soyuz MS-20 in December 2021, Japanese spaceflight participant "space tourist" Yusaku Maezawa wore a Richard Mille RM 27-02 Rafa Nadal wrist watch but the record for the most expensive wrist watch remains the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak grande complication black chronograph worn by Canadian spaceflight participant Guy Laliberté during Soyuz TMA-16 in September 2009. An interesting quiz question for watch aficionados ;-D
I have also put my green dial Tissot gentleman on a brown leather. It just feels right. This watch is hauntingly accurate! Had mine for over a month now. Good videos Andy! Cheers!
Hi Andy, I had a stall at the Birmingham watch fair in November and watched this with interest. My stall had some Speedmasters and the one you showed in the video was from my stall. Great to see it on youtube! The Moonwatch Only is fantastic for information about these watches. Hope to see you again the next fair 13th March! By the way the Speedmaster was the 105.012.66, from 1966, the caseback is not double bevelled as that changed on the 105.012 from 65 to 66.
@@TheEnglishWatch Thank you, I enjoyed your video and your comments about general knowledge. I have been into watches since the early 90’s, a slow start but more so the last 10 years. About knowledge the watches is one of those things that the more I know the more I realise how little I know. The Speedmasters are blessed as there has been a lot of research on the different models and variants, still on the early Speedmasters from the 50’s a lot is still in the dark so buying one of those will always be a gamble, but giving the prices it’s a gamble most of us will naturally avoid! My son is always with me on the stall, showing a keen interest, so by the time he is my age he might step into the expert category! Right now we are both going through a phase of catching the Seiko Bug, with focus in vintage Grand/King Seiko, a fascinating subject.
Although I have now parted ways with all of my vintage watches, I had a lot of fun with them. And luckily I had a renowned watch shop in town who could fix anything. I mean anything that’s watch related. Cheers!
Sir. A friend of mine has a vintage Omega Seamaster Deville. It has Day and date and on the back it says filled Gold. But we can't find any info on the internet about it. It is Quartz, not Automatic. Does anybody know anything about this watch?
Hi Andy. Great channel. I bought my planet ocean after watching your videos. I’m hoping to buy an IWC big pilot or pilots chronograph next year, would you be interested in using it for an unboxing video for your channel?
I definitely fall into the Amateur Enthusiast bracket. I really enjoy doing the research. We have so many avenues of information to explore now. I am currently reading 'The Wristwatch Handbook' by Ryan Schmidt.... or should I say looking at the pictures, which are mesmerising!
Really enjoyed the episode Andy, I tried to get to Birmingham but couldn’t make it.. after seeing your video I think I saved a packet. I’m into vintage seikos so could of done some serious damage to my pocket 😂
Great reasoning and categorization. I’m a 3 as well. On the subject of vintage watches… here is what I know and have come to accept for myself. I like vintage STYLE watches. True vintage is too dangerous. It’s bad enough owning a collection of new watches that at some point will require service. Vintage watches usually need service now or soon and will need it more frequently ongoing. Most vintage are too small for my liking and I prefer modern interpretations (modern movements, modern sizes, modern service intervals). Vintage watches are an easy and quick way to lose your a$$! Too many ways for it to be or go wrong.
@@TheEnglishWatch and the Tudor BBGMT… and the Heuer Monaco, many Flieger models , or Longines. History. Pedigree. Vintage style. New bits and modernized and warranted. And yes, one of the reasons I love my MOTM (2019 production). That DNA link to the past is enough for me.
@@TheEnglishWatch then your decision most likely was right. I own several Speedmasters now (also a 105.012-65) , and would strongly recommend them to any collector, as long as you know what your buying. Also don't overlook later models, especially the Mk II (ref.145.014) which actually is my preferred watch in my collection)
With all due respect & judging by the pictures you've put up on this video regarding the Birmingham Watch & Clock Fair & the £5 entry fee, all the clues were there there that this event was basically a glorified watch jumble sale.

Yes indeed. I guess those space tourists have deep pockets and an eye for an endorsement.

Excellent video. I'm a keen amateur enthusiast for sure too. Recently found & subscribed, love your work.
Cheers Andy, appreciated 👍👍

Brilliant. Thanks for spotting that. I need to read MWO again before I go to the next one.

Definitely has got me thinking about where I sit within the Watch hobby.
Another great video Andy. Looks like There are a lot of us happily stuck in level 3. Keep up the good work.

Absolutely, and what a very kind offer. Email me when you have it and we’ll set something up.

Agree. That’s why the Speedy is so good. New but old.

Hello! I need help. I want to sell to antiques watches but I don’t know at all where to sell them or the price
First step may be to look them up on Chrono24 to assess value. Find a forum for the brand, there’s plenty out there and ask questions.
@@TheEnglishWatch thank you so much!
that Speedy at 5:58 clearly is a 105.012 (thick pushers + the stepped dial)
Didn’t have the right case back though, maybe...I guess you just need to know what you’re looking at.

I'd put myself at 2, moving towards 3. But I bet we can guess which heavily tattooed UK-based level 4 expert you were thinking of 😀

It did exactly what it said on the tin, but I’d say there was more jumble that gems.
intresting not really sure , low Amateur Enthusiast lol cheers
Sorry Andy, the collection was not for me, wish you luck with your collection.
