I’m new and I use a 100lb bag. I also have a speed bag attached to those beginner bag holders tripods. What other bag should I get if I could get another one: 200lb wide bag? Wrecking ball bag? Wall punching bag(for uppercuts) 15”/18” water bag ? Please make a video on this ! Thank you !
What would you say are the best size of gloves for each occasion? I'm currently using MMA gloves on the heavy bag and I wanna get something with a little more protection for power punching, but can't decide if 12oz or 14oz will be better.. (16 seems too big to me for bag work)
Hey Tony I love your videos. I'm a 47 year old who has weight trained for 32 years, but i haven't done any marital arts or boxing training since i was in my late teens or early 20's...Obviously I'm not going to win any matches, but your videos give me great workouts to add into my weight training. i spend an hour a day on the weights then do a 30 minute workout on the bags. your videos give me new routines every weekend. I really love it man. Thanks.
Another amazing video, always short sweet and to the point, well explained with good humor (especially this one lol) Would love to hear your ideas for drills on a century bob.
New subscriber here, love all your training tips! I have been seeking info on all forms of combatives for years, and when I find a channel that always teaches me something new (to me)! I stick with it. Boxing is one of the things it was considered proper for a gentleman to learn back in the Victorian era, to defend yourself and ladies from ruffians. These days, your lady is more likely to defend herself, but it is something you should consider learning and improving on. Myself, I began my training in Tang Soo Do back in the mid-80's and thought I was pretty good until I sparred with a Golden Gloves guy. Once he learned how to get past my kicking range, he dominated, and I never forgot that! And this particular episode is important to me because I train in my basement, and space is limited, as is my time and energy. I need reviews I can trust, and this makes me aware of what that bag is for, and what it isn't for! I have a heavy bag, of course, and a B.O.B., and am always trying to find gear to help my solo training, as it is hard to get a partner here. I look forward to all your future episodes.
Definitely tips and gear for solo training. It is hard for me to find a partner. I have a heavy bag, B O.B., focus mitts and a kicking shield. Considered a top-and-bottom bag- my heavy bag has to be on a stand so I don't get room for footwork.
1st of all the wrecking ball intro was hilarious lol. 2nd of all I'm stoked to have found this video and I'm glad its one of your favorite bags, because I use a similar one in my gym. I was looking at videos comparing uses for different bags and could never find this one. Thanks again for all the info you share with us Tony.
Hey Coach, Your vids have been so helpful, especially in times like Covid, seeing as my gym has closed because of lockdown. I was hoping to request a vid on: How to effectively set-up shots and execute them. Cheers for being the greatest RUclips boxing coach and keep up the great content!!! 🥊
I have a polyform buoy filled with water it works great, since it is for my home gym I lower it so I can practice my feints to the head and rip the body or I put it at shoulder level so I can practice the full power shots I think is a great tool and better for the uppercuts than the horizontal bags, love your vids coach Tony!
When I used to train in a boxing gym the wrecking ball bag was my favorite. I would do my impression of a young George Foreman by hitting the same spot repeatedly until dented in. The punches would make a loud bang when they landed in the pocket I made and I would get looks lol
Hi Tony.. greetings from Italy.. I’m learning so much from your videos.. I have a request.. I have a long light bag.. could you make a video with speed combos for light bag?? Thank you
hey tony! first of all I want to mention that I love your videos and have an idea for your next video... can you tell us how to fight bigger opponents and ones with defensive style, the distance fighters. also the fighters that fight dirty the street fighters...hope you will see my comment!
Hi Tony. Great work as always. In your opinion, should we train missing our punches? And also, please do more videos on pad works. How to hit pads, and how to properly hold pads for partners.
Gotta love a Coach wit jokes🤪. I love this bag especially as the older guy now. Saves my joints tbh you get a different burn. I have the aqua bag version that absorbs your punches so you get the extra stamina work. You’re pros and cons are on point though. Connor dipping under makes sense from a MMA perspective. Nice video Coach.
Tony how do we deal with a really fast twitchy fighter. One of my sparring partners has a bad guard but he keeps a perfect distance that's hard to reach and his head movement is excellent. It feels impossible to land cleanly.
Throw in plenty of faints to get them thinking about what you can throw at them and try to read patterns on how they react. And switch up the height of punches in your combos, focusing on the body a lot more. Feel free to ignore this, I’m 100% sure Tony has some much better advice but here’s just some stuff I know that works for me 👍
Hi Tony, could you please make video on Sequence of training in Boxing like :- What to learn first ( eg:- footwork, punches and how much ) How much road work, strength training, other form of cardio etc... How much time approx a beginner can take to be ready for first fight... Hope you will help !!! Love from India.. Thanks Amit
Contender makes a really nice wrecking ball. It's completely spherical, but has flat panels. I have mine on a trailer winch with a few pulleys and an steel eyelid. Makes it height adjustable for body shots and easy to put up out of the way.
I can only afford one really, so I got a regular one, but I would love to go to a modern gym some day to try all the different types of bags! I love punching on bags! Thanks!
Hey Tony, thanks for an other great video. The tear drop bag used to be my favourite and I would go heavy on my training with it. However, after a particular tough session I managed to get hairline fractures in my knuckles. I thought my hands were wrapped properly and the padding in my training gloves should have been fine. Needless to say, I lost out on weeks of training due to this injury. Do you have any pointers on how I can avoid these injuries, or maybe even show us how to wrap our hands in the most optimal way to protect them? Thanks again.
Can you make a video about what should a begginer do in thier first month training in boxing and if it go viral you can make videos about first 3 month and 6 month and what to expect form training
Really nice video Tony! What do you think about the water boxing bag? I've heard that they are better to prevent impact injuries in the joints, you get more tired by hitting them since the punches are well absorbed and they better simulate a human body
Is there a heavy bag that is super soft like the tear drop so I can: Do body shots Hit it hard with it being easy on wrists, elbows, and shoulders. Love the channel Tony you make this fun!
Can you break down the pros and cons of the different variations of these types of bags? You’ve got the big round one, the water filled bag, the tear drop shaped bag, the one that looks like a giant ball sac. What’s the difference?
Hi Tony, thanks for the content. Question about training, I often see clips of high level fighters just lightly tapping bags, no power, not good technique either ( as far as bringing hands back etc), sometimes, they are shadow boxing, but moving really slow and too my inexperienced eye, I can't see a purpose. The Connor clip is an example. Can you shed some light? Cheers Pete
@@Tony_Jeffries i like it alot. Feels really good to hit, easier to hang since it comes empty, and way cheaper. Also wanted the aqua bags since theyre made of rubber so it can last outdoors.
