No, once you delete a product and its associated listing from your seller account on Amazon, you will not be able to find the ASINs, SKUs, or FNSKUs for those deleted products within your account. Deleting a product removes all associated data and listings permanently. It's important to keep records of this information externally before deleting products to ensure you have it for reference in the future.
Will try this fix. It's a relief to know that my problem is not isolated. Selling on Amazon has been one issue after another for the past 4 years. I keep going because I think it will pay off someday but it's a constant struggle.

Hi, So I'm trying to update the size in the Catalog Attributes for an ASIN. I have spent days going through calls in Amazon and tickets. I tried to update it via bulk upload by uploading a catalogue excel. I placed the right sizes in the respective columns. Issue is it doesn't update since it's Brand registry. I tried to open a ticket through Brand Registry and they say they can't do it since I have to do it on my end. But I continue to get error 8541. I tried to do it manually and of course the listing doesn't let me update and save.

If you didn’t create the listing, submit a case to Amazon Seller Support with proof of brand ownership. Ask them to update the attributes since flat files might not work if Amazon favors the original creator.
Hey Steven, Awesome video, but I'm still having troubles with update of: Title, Description & Search Terms (bullet points went through without an issue). Did a full update, deleted listing for 48 hours, full update again - no use, it just won't update for these fields. Brand registry support says "the attribute you have requested updates on has already been claimed by another representative of the brand". I'm stuck. What would you do?

Really enjoyed your video and as you say with a lot of people the templates go over their head and I'm one of those as they aren't straight forward and I don't find anything straight forward about Amazon in fact it's more of a nightmare. I added 3 photo's to one of my listings and they went through and appeared so I then tried to add 3 photo's to another listing and of course it through up the red exclamation under product identity with the famous 8541. I dread going into change anything as you can guarantee they either unlist you or do the 8541 trick of which really has nothing to do with the issue. Their excuse is the product id is incorrect but it was the catalogue department who put it there due to some previous bs where they wouldn't accept the correct product id. Spent a fortune on blo.....y Amazon so can you please tell me is there an easy fix and if I edit on the listing the issue they're referring to will it still throw up a red flag again. ? Would I be better to delete and relist and add the photo's then?

Thank you so much, I love to see people who know what they are doing! I have a QUESTION though: I have a parent with 6 color variations, but Amazon is doing strange stuff to me. Firstly they un-linked the review count and started to show it separately and not all reviews summed-up. I wish it was the vice versa, if it is possible? But if not, I can live with that. But even worse thing - Amazon suddenly splitted my parent-child variation tree and only kept 3 of my variations and the other three became separate products. What do you think I should do? Delete the parent and then create the parent again with all 6 variations using a flat file somehow? Thank you for any advice

we would put variation asins in the same campaign, unless there are item specific differences on the child products which soils require different keyword segmentations

My intention based on all the videos I have watched was to manually create all five variations separately, and then create the parent listing, and simply add each variation to the parent under the variations tab. Are you saying this is NOT the correct way to set up the parentage?

I guess I just happened to get a rep that is from another planet altogether. Any way, I have tried the flat file upload, inside seller account, and your method. Great video! Extremely helpful. Quick question though, we're selling 2 different unit types. These show up in our product page as A: "5 Count (Pack of 1)" and B: "3-Step (60-Day Supply)". We want to change A into the same format as B but we keep getting an error saying "The SKU data provided is different from what's already in the Amazon catalog."

I've inherited a company VC account, a new SC account has been set up, so the product updates are in VC via a template. I have a title that is stuck and not changing even though I have uploaded a new template in VC and manually updated in SC. Is the advice to raise a ticket in VC or SC?
Thank you for making this video. I am writing to ask what one should do if they still can’t change the product title using the file upload? I have been on the Amazon support hamster wheel for a month and have tried deleting the listing, reuploading, partial updates, updates, and of course multiple upon multiple support requests. Even with the full Update upload, I am still getting the error 8541. I am the registered brand owner, manufacturer and purchased my GTIN directly from GS1. It is getting to the point where I feel the only option is to try a new GTIN number but this GTIN number is on the barcodes of all my inventory.
*Update* I have resolved my issue (myself :)). I listed the item with the stuck, incorrect title which was "For iPhone Case - Butterfly etc." It would not let me change that title to what I wanted BUT it did let me delete everything after "For iPhone" and update the listing. Then, once that had updated, I was able to delete everything in the title after the word "For". So the title just became "For". Then I added the title I wanted after the word "For" and updated again which became "For Peter's Correct Listing Title etc". Once it updated to this, I then was able to delete the world "For" and now it seems to be finally reflecting the correct title for my listing. Thanks again for making this video and I hope this comment helps someone else escape Amazon Seller Support hell. I am guessing there is some kind of "logic" in the catalouge backend that tries to stop people from making drastic changes to listing titles. This logic appears to have been persisting on my ASIN even though I am the registered brand owner, manufacturer etc which is why even the Amazon support people could not update my listing when they tried. Making incremental changes to the listing title seems to bypass this rule.
If the attribute isn’t showing under ‘Edit Product,’ try updating it with an inventory file template. If that doesn’t work, file a ‘Fix a Product Page’ ticket with Seller Support and include your ASIN, correct details, and proof of ownership like a website link. Hope that helps!
Great video! Amazon lets me change my title, however it goes back to the old one within 24 hours atomically. Do you have a video on how to change the title via partial upload with the flat file?

Hi Steven! Watched your video on updating catalog attributes. I have gone in circles with seller support on one of my listings. I need to update the category path from "books" to "office products" which they should be in. I have a parent with 4 children (only one of them active as an FBA and FBM). They told me to delete my listing, wait 24 hrs. and relist. Do I need to delete just the active variation with inventory for both the FBM and FBA listings or just one of them? I already deleted the FBM which is currently active. My FBA does not have inventory yet. Also, if I try to relist with the inventory file, do I do a full or partial update? I am really confused with how to complete the file. Very complicated process. Thanks for any advice you have.

The "Vital Info" tab may not be visible in the listing editor if the category you are listing in does not have any required fields in that section. Alternatively, it is possible that you do not have the necessary permissions to view or edit the "Vital Info" tab. In this case, you may need to contact Amazon Seller Support for assistance.

Steven, I have the same issue currently and may have some insight on what is going on. After a couple of tickets to seller central support, I received this response: "We found that the existing value for this attribute is being contributed from your selling account. As you are a brand registry seller, the contribution of this attribute is higher than the seller support, we don’t have permission to update the related attribute for you. In order to update this attribute, you need to submit a "full update" inventory file with all attributes filled-in with the correct information, including..." In short, it looks like it's a permissions issue. Sadly when you attempt to make the change through the front end, it doesn't give you an error message or reason why. The solution of course is to upload the flat file.

Hi Steven. I am having great issues with Brand Registry... Their responsiveness to my problem is ridiculously horrible. I have an inappropriate value that will not come off my listing. Because Brand Registry will not answer my specific questions and requests, I have decided to just delete the listing for 24 hours and then see if reuploading with a better value inserted into the attribute will correct the problem. I have the same problem but with the Brand name. Tried everything but nothing worked. Partial Update, Full Update, Delete SKU, Reinstate, waited 24 hours but the old Brand name was stuck and the problem is still there after 6 weeks. The old brand name was just a Random 3 word Name which I used before getting my actual brand registered. There are total of 11 ASINs, 6 are updated to the new brand but 5 went back to the old brand. Nothing has been working.

Hi Thanks for your video great content,I'm in the UK and have had a similar problem with pricing,most of my products are round $30 I have recently listed a premium product at $100 then suddenly lost the Buy Box,tried to contact Seller Support but pushed me back to generic info on the SC portal like Groundhog Day anyway was forced to reduce the price to circa $30 then sold out as buyers got a bargain and now I'm slowly slowly increasing the price by $2 a day Any ideas? Michael - you would need to force multiple purchases at the $100 mark to get the buy box back in your original method. But in current method just keep raising the price like you're doing, it increases the price band to allow the buy box to settle with the new higher price. You could probably raise it faster than $2, just go as high as it lets you until buy box loss, then go slightly lower until regained, stay there, rinse repeat.
Steven, I have 2 different questions. 1. I got an email from Seller Central - We are reaching out to you from Amazon. This is regarding a data quality audit that we performed on the Amazon catalog. In order to identify and update the size value related to your ASIN, we have manually audited the Amazon detail page but we were unable to generate a size value for your ASIN based on the information available on the website .Kindly refer the attached excel file with ASIN details and issue description for additional clarity and provide the size value related to the product in the respective column which can be uploaded to the catalog. Please follow the standard size value format, kindly refer the “read_me” sheet attached file for additional clarity categories
Not sure why my message cut off, I completed a couple the catagories on the spreedsheet and wonder what kind of file this is and if I upload in the inventory section? Help Second question - we have been having trouble with the incorrect size showing in search results that we did not enter. Example 1.25 pounds Pack of 1, when it should be 1.25 ounces Pack of 1. We tried to update this in the vital information for size with the "suggested change" and it wont let us saying the ASIN is locked with that information. Any ideas?

If you don't own the brand registry, it's rough to solve for multiple sellers on same listing with conflicting seller contributions. Same concept though as in the video, template upload, tickets, and manufacturer's proof on your case submissions.

I’m thinking about registering a brand but not sure if that’s the right move. Also been thinking about if I should continue to just put offers on other people’s listings and then trying to update their data so it’s more accurate or if I should just make my own listings from scratch, but then I’ll want to enhance the listings at some point anyways so why bother making the listings 🤷🏻♂️. Why don't you use the category listing to update the listing instead of copying it in a blank template. Just unprotect and update via category listing no need to copy in a different (blank) template. Also, create parents within the category listing. Change all old automated parents and create new ones with proper names that make sense. Delete in SC old parent prior to creating a new parentage connection. Works best.

Absolutely hate this: 1) they want you to delete for 24 hrs then reupload a flat file... ok so I have to lose 1 day of sales/rank due to an amazon "glitch"? 2) to create the file upload, if you just use a cat listing file, TONS can go wrong and it can change so many things (item type keyword, browse nodes, etc) so you have to manually create an actual upload file for the exact category which is a pain, takes time, and easy to make mistakes on such a F($ hassle

Shouldn't have any long term effects, just stranded while the listing is deleted.

If you didn’t create the listing, submit a case to Amazon Seller Support with proof of brand ownership. Ask them to update the attributes since flat files might not work if Amazon favors the original creator.

Do you know the name of the report you can request via a case? Apparently it shows any errors which are related to the ASIN
The category listing report is the only one needed to be requested via case. Otherwise the listing quality and performance report could help.
Is there a report to pull to get all images/descriptions etc of your listings so you can upload into shopify?
The copy is easy the images are tricky. Start with the category all listings report.

Really enjoyed your video and as you say with a lot of people the templates go over their head and I'm one of those as they aren't straight forward and I don't find anything straight forward about Amazon in fact it's more of a nightmare.
I added 3 photo's to one of my listings and they went through and appeared so I then tried to add 3 photo's to another listing and of course it through up the red exclamation under product identity with the famous 8541. I dread going into change anything as you can guarantee they either unlist you or do the 8541 trick of which really has nothing to do with the issue.
Their excuse is the product id is incorrect but it was the catalogue department who put it there due to some previous bs where they wouldn't accept the correct product id.
Spent a fortune on blo.....y Amazon so can you please tell me is there an easy fix and if I edit on the listing the issue they're referring to will it still throw up a red flag again.

I have a QUESTION though:
I have a parent with 6 color variations, but Amazon is doing strange stuff to me. Firstly they un-linked the review count and started to show it separately and not all reviews summed-up. I wish it was the vice versa, if it is possible? But if not, I can live with that. But even worse thing - Amazon suddenly splitted my parent-child variation tree and only kept 3 of my variations and the other three became separate products. What do you think I should do? Delete the parent and then create the parent again with all 6 variations using a flat file somehow? Thank you for any advice

we would put variation asins in the same campaign, unless there are item specific differences on the child products which soils require different keyword segmentations

My intention based on all the videos I have watched was to manually create all five variations separately, and then create the parent listing, and simply add each variation to the parent under the variations tab. Are you saying this is NOT the correct way to set up the parentage?
Sawyer, all parentage should be setup through a flat file load. You will have less issues doing it this way!
Hi Steven. I did what you said to do and I got the absolute worst support from Amazon ever!! Not saying that your directions were bad because you were very clear in the steps. Great video! Extremely helpful. Quick question though, we're selling 2 different unit types. These show up in our product page as A: "5 Count (Pack of 1)" and B: "3-Step (60-Day Supply)". I've inherited a company VC account, a new SC account has been set up, so the product updates are in VC via a template. I have a title that is stuck and not changing even though I have uploaded a new template in VC and manually updated in SC. Is the advice to raise a ticket in VC or SC?

Thank you for making this video. I am writing to ask what one should do if they still can’t change the product title using the file upload? I have been on the Amazon support hamster wheel for a month and have tried deleting the listing, reuploading, partial updates, updates, and of course multiple upon multiple support requests. Even with the full Update upload, I am still getting the error 8541. I am the registered brand owner, manufacturer and purchased my GTIN directly from GS1. It is getting to the point where I feel the only option is to try a new GTIN number but this GTIN number is on the barcodes of all my inventory.
*Update* I have resolved my issue (myself :)). I listed the item with the stuck, incorrect title which was "For iPhone Case - Butterfly etc." It would not let me change that title to what I wanted BUT it did let me delete everything after "For iPhone" and update the listing. Then, once that had updated, I was able to delete everything in the title after the word "For". So the title just became "For". Then I added the title I wanted after the word "For" and updated again which became "For Peter's Correct Listing Title etc". Once it updated to this, I then was able to delete the world "For" and now it seems to be finally reflecting the correct title for my listing. Thanks again for making this video and I hope this comment helps someone else escape Amazon Seller Support hell. I am guessing there is some kind of "logic" in the catalouge backend that tries to stop people from making drastic changes to listing titles. This logic appears to have been persisting on my ASIN even though I am the registered brand owner, manufacturer etc which is why even the Amazon support people could not update my listing when they tried. Making incremental changes to the listing title seems to bypass this rule.

If the attribute isn’t showing under ‘Edit Product,’ try updating it with an inventory file template. If that doesn’t work, file a ‘Fix a Product Page’ ticket with Seller Support and include your ASIN, correct details, and proof of ownership like a website link. Hope that helps!

Hi Steven! Watched your video on updating catalog attributes. I have gone in circles with seller support on one of my listings. I need to update the category path from "books" to "office products" which they should be in. I have a parent with 4 children (only one of them active as an FBA and FBM). They told me to delete my listing, wait 24 hrs. and relist. Do I need to delete just the active variation with inventory for both the FBM and FBA listings or just one of them? I already deleted the FBM which is currently active. My FBA does not have inventory yet.
Also, if I try to relist with the inventory file, do I do a full or partial update? I am really confused with how to complete the file. Very complicated process. Thanks for any advice you have.

Why can't I see the "Vital Info" tab when I Edit my listing?
The "Vital Info" tab may not be visible in the listing editor if the category you are listing in does not have any required fields in that section. Alternatively, it is possible that you do not have the necessary permissions to view or edit the "Vital Info" tab. In this case, you may need to contact Amazon Seller Support for assistance.

Steven, I have the same issue currently and may have some insight on what is going on. After a couple of tickets to seller central support, I received this response:
"We found that the existing value for this attribute is being contributed from your selling account. As you are a brand registry seller, the contribution of this attribute is higher than the seller support, we don’t have permission to update the related attribute for you. In order to update this attribute, you need to submit a "full update" inventory file with all attributes filled-in with the correct information, including..."
In short, it looks like it's a permissions issue. Sadly when you attempt to make the change through the front end, it doesn't give you an error message or reason why. The solution of course is to upload the flat file.

Hi Steven. I am having great issues with Brand Registry... Their responsiveness to my problem is ridiculously horrible. I have an inappropriate value that will not come off my listing. Because Brand Registry will not answer my specific questions and requests, I have decided to just delete the listing for 24 hours and then see if reuploading with a better value inserted into the attribute will correct the problem. I have the same problem but with the Brand name. Tried everything but nothing worked. Partial Update, Full Update, Delete SKU, Reinstate, waited 24 hours but the old Brand name was stuck and the problem is still there after 6 weeks.
The old brand name was just a Random 3 word Name which I used before getting my actual brand registered. There are total of 11 ASINs, 6 are updated to the new brand but 5 went back to the old brand.
Nothing has been working.

I'm finding that full updates are often not sufficient and the deletion is. No reason not to try the full update first though!

Hi Thanks for your video great content,I'm in the UK and have had a similar problem with pricing,most of my products are round $30 I have recently listed a premium product at $100 then suddenly lost the Buy Box,tried to contact Seller Support but pushed me back to generic info on the SC portal like Groundhog Day anyway was forced to reduce the price to circa $30 then sold out as buyers got a bargain and now I'm slowly slowly increasing the price by $2 a day Any ideas? Michael - you would need to force multiple purchases at the $100 mark to get the buy box back in your original method. But in current method just keep raising the price like you're doing, it increases the price band to allow the buy box to settle with the new higher price. You could probably raise it faster than $2, just go as high as it lets you until buy box loss, then go slightly lower until regained, stay there, rinse repeat.

Second question - we have been having trouble with the incorrect size showing in search results that we did not enter. Example 1.25 pounds Pack of 1, when it should be 1.25 ounces Pack of 1. We tried to update this in the vital information for size with the "suggested change" and it wont let us saying the ASIN is locked with that information. Any ideas?

If you don't own the brand registry, it's rough to solve for multiple sellers on same listing with conflicting seller contributions. Same concept though as in the video, template upload, tickets, and manufacturer's proof on your case submissions.

My company has 5-10k SKU’s and I’m in charge of the Amazon side of the business. I’ve been trying to update all the errors with listings and nothing has been working. I’m thinking about registering a brand but not sure if that’s the right move. Also been thinking about if I should continue to just put offers on other people’s listings and then trying to update their data so it’s more accurate or if I should just make my own listings from scratch, but then I’ll want to enhance the listings at some point anyways so why bother making the listings 🤷🏻♂️. Please be informed that we'd suggest you to try to add the product via a flat file.
To add the products via flat file, please go through the steps below :
1) Log into Seller Central.
2) Click Add Products via Upload under the Inventory tab.
3) Search the product you wish to list. Select the plus (+) option beside the selected category and click Generate Template.
4) Open the flat file, go to the Template tab at the bottom of the excel sheet, and enter your product details.
(Note: Make sure that you enter information for the attributes that are in bold (i.e. product_subtype, item_sku, part_number, etc). Please refer to the Instructions, Data definition, Images, Valid Values and Example tabs in the flat file to understand how to fill the details in the flat file.)
5) Save the file in “.text tab delimited “format.

8) Click Upload Now.

Why don't you use the category listing to update the listing instead of copying it in a blank template. Just unprotect and update via category listing no need to copy in a different (blank) template. Also, create parents within the category listing. Change all old automated parents and create new ones with proper names that make sense. Delete in SC old parent prior to creating a new parentage connection. Works best.
I agree. The downloading of a category listing report is newer than this video and is a superior methodology

Absolutely hate this:
1) they want you to delete for 24 hrs then reupload a flat file... ok so I have to lose 1 day of sales/rank due to an amazon "glitch"?
2) to create the file upload, if you just use a cat listing file, TONS can go wrong and it can change so many things (item type keyword, browse nodes, etc) so you have to manually create an actual upload file for the exact category which is a pain, takes time, and easy to make mistakes on
such a F($ hassle
You can perform full update without deleting the listing.
