I visited Hong Kong and mainland China to visit some hockey factories. In this video I visited two hockey factories that make hockey sticks. They make the sticks by hand, which I found really cool. I think bigger brands will have equipment to do some of these steps.

What do you guys think of the Chinese hockey stick factory?
Coach Jeremy - The Hockey Movement HaHa you went to play at MegaBox. Been there but I never got to skate on the surface. How's that ice feel?
Coach Jeremy - The Hockey Movement can I get a warrior dynasty
Coach Jeremy - The Hockey Movement It really makes you respect other cultures
Payton Sutherland for sure! Buy it!
What factory was that?
When I was a kid back in the 1970's , everything was Made in Canada and there was a selection of countless brands of hockey sticks and other equipment. Now there seems to be a couple of big monopolies that control the whole industry.
Welcome to the 21st century.
Yeah exactly. Can't fathom spending $350 on a stick made in China. Heck can't believe most all gear is made in that sht hole country
Great video. I used to work with carbon fiber products (different industry than hockey). I'm sure Bauer/CCM and other big name companies employ a little better manufacturing technology (and better quality control measures) but it's probably not much different to what you see in the video. What sets the knock-offs to high-end carbon products is, the quality in fiber materials (there is a difference in fiber weaves) and the way the fiber is laid-out in the product mold. Fiber materials, weave patterns, baking process are critical in achieving a good quality product. High-end carbon bikes, F1 racing cars, hockey sticks....there is no real automated way in laying out the carbon fiber products, so it's all pretty much done by hand. Without low-cost labor like China/Vietnam, etc to do this....our sticks would probably start at $200, just the reality of modern economics.
Is the what???
Now starting at $329 🤣
Can you test out one of the China's factory stick and review it? that would be awesome!😁
Are we just going to ignore that girls shoes at 4:14? But seriously thanks so much amazing video!
Yo Jeremy your editing had gotten do good dude
Cool video. You should visit Vaughn Custom Sports in London, Ontario. That's where Canadians make "Eagle" hockey equipment, the best hockey equipment.
The vlog edits are getting amazing!
would have been cool to get some reviews on the equipment from Chines factories in comparison to the big brands.
excellent video as always Jeremy!
I saw a move there at the end I've never seen before, very cool
this is a quality video
Love these videos! Can you show us some off ice speed drills?
These China hockey vlogs are awesome! Hope you plan on doing more vlogs in the future.
Absolutely love these videos...
Gradpa @ 0:40 has got some SWAG homie..
Nice video, coach Jeremy. Wish you could make some videos about ice hockey in China and Kong Kong.
the choice of music is GREAT ! keep doing what doing
It's the same music found on most RUclips videos these days.
5:45 Nice move.
I prefer soft ice. 30-32 degrees on a cloudy day or 25-27 degrees on a sunny day = perfect ice. Hard/glassy ice, like when it's in the teens or lower, sucks, especially (or "expecially", as Coach Jeremy would say) if your skates haven't been sharpened immediately before skating on it.
Indoor ice always feels relatively soft to me, though I've only ever skated at two different indoor rinks (Alfond Arena in Orono, Maine, and Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Maine). The ice at both of those rinks feels the same to me, i.e., closer to soft than hard and unnaturally smooth and level due to being surfaced by a Zamboni.
Are you gonna have a vlog from playon at Ottawa?
I just bought what I assume is a chinese knockoff stick from amazon. The brand name is Featol and I got the stick for 79 bucks Canadian, the stick only weighs 430 grams and comes with a 1 year no hassle replacement warranty. It has a P92 curve which I assume is a Bauer pattern. With the outrageous prices being charged for brand name sticks I can see this becoming a very popular stick segment moving forward, especially for recreational players like myself.
It will fit sure. China has no respect for IP, they steal and copy everything. Guess it's ok since you wld have to be brain dead to spend $300+ on a name brand stick that's made in China. Then again, look at all us using cell phones, apple, paying gobs of $$ for those. Ah well
I will never buy a hockey stick from a hockey store in North America ever again. You can buy direct from these hockey stick companies and pay a fraction of the price for the exact same sticks that you get on the Shelf. These companies will custom paint your sticks for you if you want them to and put your teams logo on them.
Matt From Duluth which website?
So cool
2 questions Coach Jeremy...1) What is the core of the blade made of? The cnc router was cutting out. 2) Is the shaft hollow or does it have a core?
the core is typically made of foam, and i would imagine the shaft is hollow due to the air being blown into it
most sticks are use a PU foam in blade. then wrapping carbon fiber cloth.
Just remembered that other countries drive in the left side of the road in the right side of a vehicle
Not "other coutries" just some
S Xyua Li
Most
Wtf is wrong with you guys? Most countries drive in the right sight of the road
Different culture...
When they start rolling the fiberglass to make the stick, do they use something in the beginning so when they get to using compressed air to mold it it doesn't offset the layers of fiber on each side?
Damn Jeremy, the editing skills have gone off the charts these last few videos. Sometimes I think I'm watching a Casey Neistat video. Loving it!!!
I love hockey !
Hey Jeremy,
Can you make a video on common 2-4 year mistakes hockey skaters make. ( not 2-4 year olds.. I mean for skating for 2-4 years....)
Thanks
Costas Alimonos there's a big difference between 2 and 4 years of hockey experience.
is that how they make koho sticks and North eastern? looks complicated?
Those brands of sticks are so strange! Where could you pick those up?
What factory's did you visit ? I'm looking for a stick manufacturer.
A bit more hands-on than I expected. Seems like the process is more automated in other factories, or am I wrong?
Jeremy- Is this a knockoff factory? I couldn't find any of the brands on here through a Google search. Curious as I know a lot of people that are buying knockoff sticks and I wonder if they are made the same way as the branded sticks.
I didn't get to visit a factory making big name sticks, but I think the big factories use machines for the wrapping process and the ones making knockoffs are done by hand.
Good question, big brand have exclusive factory to keep their patents, technology privately, like bauer have bonny. Others like ccm, warrior, they don't do this, their factory is open to work, but it's maybe not a best choice to do a business with them, as their production capacity is occupied by big brands. And your order size maybe not big as CCM, so cost will be also higher than them.
Michael Zhang is this your guys’ factory?
EARLY SQUAD WHARE YOU AT!!!
Slept-in today, haha
Dusty Hockey lol
Hey Coach, what backpack are you rocking there?
Ovaltine is huge in the US, particularly for boomers.
Do hockey stick collection video
Can you visit a Canadian hockey stick factory?
Are you posting a play on video?
Would it be techincaly possible to order raw hockey sticks straight from factory?
Yes, but only in large quantities.
My dad says I have to focus on football and baseball but I love hockey and practice any free time I get
Tell your dad he doesn't know what he's talking about. Football and baseball are stupid. Hockey is the only great sport. Quit them and focus on hockey. Tell him he's a cheapskate too.
Superstar Hockey why is your dad dictating what sport you should enjoy? If you love hockey then he should let you play
no
SpikeFlea You just trashtalked the biggest sport in the world. Apparently people like soccer more, so please shut your mouth.
mmv Not in Canada troll. 😂
jeremy you are eating too much bread out there😂 just kidding
what app did you use to video call?
Could you also use a GoPro and show us a whole game
I don't want to bore anyone :)
He should take one home and review it
Haven't been this early since the Rangers won the cup
Hey Jeremy for those Octupus cards you could've tapped them while they were still in your wallet! 😂😂😂😂
Nice video
Hey Jeremy!
you travel a lot and you always have your hockey equipment and sticks on the plane. I want to fly from Germany to sweden for a hockey camp and airberlin wants me to pay 180€ for my sticks. do you know how to manage this problem the best way?
greetings from Germany😂😂
it's a branded new stick or use stick?
Brand new
"Latte's good too" hhaha
He actually went to BaDonalds
Ovomaltine is a Swiss Chocolate brand
Interesting that the application of the carbon fiber is like a sticker instead of using a saturated epoxy. That's probably why some people don't like them
What you're seeing is pre-impregnated carbon fabric with epoxy(typically) resin. It comes that way, tacky and with the backing. Peel n stick. Pretty standard.
Helder Medeiros I'm wondering if it is as strong. It looks like it's only on one side. Still very interesting to see how they do it
this is sick. i didnt know you had a child. gnar
Pretty sad those sticks can’t be made in Canada!
Great content! Thanks :)
3:33 wow touching epoxy resin all day without gloves... kind of irresponsible by the company
Yo se que fabrica es ya que les compro ha ellos

Thanks for posting this video. No disrespect to the Chinese but I think it is important for younger people to see the absolute crap that they are making over there. I hope one of the younger guys watching this video says to himself I can make a better product in the United States or Canada. I am a old guy and I remember when the hockey equipment you bought would last you seasons instead of just one. I am afraid with the breakup of the big hockey companies that anyone can just purchase a license and make garbage with the big brand names on them. The problem is that even though the equipment is made cheaper than it was in Canada these guys are charging more for it. Hence killing the sport for many families who cannot afford it. I am sorry to say that Hockey has really become a rich kids game in the USA. I hope that Canada can keep up the tradition of making Hockey affordable and accessible to all of its younger citizens.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi, i'm a girl and 14 years old. Im VERRY intressed (?) on hockey and I want to start. But it is to late for me to start? Please help me! Leave i comment if you know what i should do.
🏒Thanks! 🏒
Most female hockey players I know started when they were older than you ;)
I've even known some who started when in their 40's, so 14 is absolutely no problem at all.
That's why I buy my top end Bauer sticks off allibaba
£75 a stick bargain .
so these are what nhlers use
Is this where hockey sticks are made for nhl players?
What was the quality of the stick like any good or pretty poor?
The one factory they look really good, I was impressed.
@@CoachJeremy Where can one buy these sticks?
That's my dads hockey company
send me some free stuff😂😂
go to finland to PAMA's factory
here before 1000 views
I feel like most sticks are NOT made like this but with machines
Legend says if your early he pins your comments
Slang Supreme worked out pretty well
Jeremy you write lefty but shoot righty? What the heck!?
Coleson Lamb in most of the world besides the US (Canada , Europe, Australia) people are taught to play with their dominant hand on top of the stick meaning righties play left, lefties play right. the theory being it gives the player better stick handling by sacrificing a little shot power. As with everything in hockey though it is entirely up to preference
ryan dunn Oh makes sense. I just grew up lefty in everything
I won’t even correct you on soccer courts because those “fields” are no fields
Horses don't sweat.
🤣👍🔥
Coach, do you think you could send me a signed floorball stick? I love practicing off the ice, and anything else would be super cool.
I thought hockey sticks were made in Canada
so you are telling me you dont know what OVALTINE is!!!!!
Jeremy you just ate rat meat!
Because he only played hockey in a reck league at 15 so he doesn't get it
guy litterally just said "let's getting zipping" to an asian cab driver. that is Fed up.
"How china is getting rich"
13th comment!!
First
Hong Kong is not China 😡
MADE IN CHINA. IT'S ABOUT MARKET SHARES AND GREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
music sucks
Thanks for making the video however it pisses me off that hockey equipment that is made in China is so expensive. They could make the equipment in Canada, US, or even Europe with no worker slave wages and still make a profit.Bring those jobs back to Canada! (or US) Make Canada Great Again, Make US Great Again
