    I'm with Roman, and you don't even have to spend $67,000. At least half of the local inventory are under $60,000(many for as low as $56,000) which is not bad for a large 3-Row with the Lexus badge and dealer experience. Heck, many people are routinely spending $55,000 on Highlander Platinum's. Also, Toyota inventory is still garbage, so most of the dealers are probably going to want an extortion fee for a Grand Highlander, especially a hybrid and/or a desirable trim.(Market Adjustment or Pro Pack) I suspect a lot of the comments picking the Grand Highlander aren't actual potential buyers who have actually tried to recently buy a Toyota or Lexus SUV.

    • @salocin911
      @salocin911 8 месяцев назад +2

      this was the exact situation for us. we were at the Toyota dealer ready to go for hybrid Max and then the dealer came up with an extra 4500 in required DSRP markup charges and then we were sitting closer to 70,000. for a freaking Highlander. so we opted for that base Lexus tx with some extra options packages and the premium and some negotiations with our trade-in and price. we walked out the door with a nicely equipped car at 58 777

    That’s about $71,500 after my state’s sales tax. To think that that price is anywhere near reasonable indicates that you have, over time, been brainwashed by the industry. 20 years ago I could have bought two fully loaded Toyota Camrys (mine was purchased a 3k below MSRP, my Dad’s at 4k below) and had about 13 or 14 thousand dollars left for some vacations.
    Also, I worry about Toyota electronics. I’ve had two door-lock actuators go bad. I had the first one fixed, which again went bad, and then another door’s actuator stopped working (and it stays that way today). A navigation system button requires immense pressure to get it to function, and my Dad’s Camry’s moonroof doesn’t automatically return to the closed position.
    I don’t know why these companies insist on powering everything. Those rear seat lowering/raising mechanisms would drive me insane! And why change a tried and true method of door handle design. On my Camry, I pull the handle…..it opens….voila!
    That having been said, they do run forever.

    Hello Tommy, I love your fascination for affortable cars, but you have such affortable cars in in the US that I'm really jealous. But for once in my lufetimd I agree with Roman, this TX is a bargain. I love the reliable cars from Toyota and Lexus, but with the idioticly taxes we have a 2020 model Lexus RX450h wil have a higher second han price by us, and a Toyota RAV4 plugin hybrid is at a price equivalent with aprox 75.000 USD. And for 2025 everything which isn't zero emission cars, also hybrids and plugin hybrids will rise significantly. I agree with the environmental profile but we certainly not have zero emissiln options that cover a lot of private and commercial needs and this is a disaster of environmental symbolic politics which is not adapter to all transport needs where some people either have to keep old commercial cars with high emissions or try to buy an all too expencive vehicle with high taxes. It's symbolic because all the zero emission cars have led to a large increase in the total number of cars and is in addition to the ICE cars which also have increased somewhat the last ten years, and have not led to reduction in ICE cars as the politicans predicted. My family also have an ev, but with no taxes on evs and free tollroads and the big increase in cars in total this is not good politics neither for the environment or all the people who bought too big and expensive evs with much higher drop in value than a ordinary car. I'm glad we have been lucky and bought normal size and cost of our evs.

I am one of those people who occasionally need 3 rows but not always and would only occasionally do off-roading (lets call it rarely) however I am still not fully sold on the design of TX vs new GX. Regarding this vs Grand H, well the difference is 10K so I think it very subjective. Lexus would hold better resale value and according to some reviewers the driving of TX is better than GH. On the other hand, GH takes regular fuel and comes with plain hybrid with better economy which is not yet available in TX. I saw Gh in person and it looks great.

Just One rather large niggle - as Andre opened the passenger door, the sunlight on the B Pillar showed extreme scratching on the surface. Is that piano black surface painted, or made of plastic? I’ve driven several. The Pleather seats feel cheap. Not luxurious. Cloth would have been better) (You can opt for leather on the luxury trim). It’s missing a lot of the Lexus Luxury items, touches and styling, and feels cheap for a Lexus. The door openers are stupid. Change for change sake. If you have to explain to your passengers how to use the door latches, it’s just wrong. No improvement at all.
    As others have said. It’s the Lexus minivan. (And I like mini vans). Too expensive for what it is. Too un-Lexus like to bear the name. Just my opinion of course.
    Also. Premium gas only. Same thing they did to the RX. That alone is going to cost them some very loyal customers.
    This is a classic Japanese de-contenting exercise after they have established a good reputation. But they have cheapened the brand IMHO. However, people will buy just about anything these days and the Sienna is impossible to find new. So the TX will “succeed” on sales but they have also managed to produce a Lexus that is nothing special. Go buy a Palisade and throw it away in 5 years. Maybe Lexus will have wised up by then or (more likely) they will have convinced people to buy this half-assed Lexus.
