Excellent information. Bought my camera at the airport, got it set up and working in mere minutes, ran for the plane, and got some nice holiday videos in Sri Lanka. Thank you.
I got mine around the same time as you by the looks of it. I've already uploaded a real world use of me using it, riding to work. I've also ordered another universal bike mount from Sony, along with the Lense cover.
I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU DO FOR A LIVING, BUT I HOPE ITS TEACHING. THANK YOU FOR MAKING A VIDEO I CAN UNDERSTAND. I HAD TO GO THROUGH AT LEASE 6 OTHER VIDEOS UNTIL I FOUND YOU. THANKS GOD BLESS. GREAT VIDEO FOR A 2016.
Thank you for the excellent review of first time user for the Sony x3000r. You are on spot with all the problems that may occur for those who don't RTFM. I do that a lot and I'm sure this video will help a lot of people including me.
thanks for your series on the Sony! Your videos have helped me finalise my decision on buying this little bugger for b-roll and more spontaneous vlogging.
Interestingly, I just bought this camera and had the exact hard time/ confusion on the 3 things you mentioned, ie the opening of the waterproof case, the placing of the battery and the micro SD card (over the card, I had actually read the manual but found out afterwards that the way it inserted was for the Sony memory stick..). Great video but I wish I had watch it earlier:).
Interesting video, with regards to how the battery is inserted, if you go to page 14 of the user manual it shows very clearly how to insert the battery but I do agree it would make more sense if the green arrow symbol on the battery was face up.
By the Way when you were opening the battery door you should have showed how to open that latch wihere you see the yellow in the back of the camera it look like you were yanking the battery door open without showing us how to open the door great video by the way.
One more thing on page 16 of the user manual it shows how to insert the micro SD or Memory stick micro, as you said micro SD goes in contacts facing the display side but if you are using a Memory stick micro the contacts face the battery side. I hope this helps.
Just want to comment about the shape of the camera vis a vis lens placement. If you wish to place the camera on a helmet, this camera's profile is much slimmer than a gopro's, and therefore catches much less wind. I really noticed how my head was being pushed back when I had a gopro style camera on it, and was riding a higher speeds. So the Sony's design makes a lot of sense if you are going to be using it where aerodynamics is a factor.
Great cam but won’t dropped the app on apple. Easy to upload with a lightning card reader but can’t get gps data and speedometer on screen. Big let down. Any tips on getting around this appreciated.
What are the best automatic settings for when I ride with my motorbike. 1080/60 or 1080/30 How does the one touch film button actually works? I can't find any good movies about those settings ☹
Lol...I had the same challenge in opening up the waterproof case the first time, too. Good job in covering this all important first step. ;-) But the view of the parts you are trying to show ended up off-screen, so maybe re- filming those parts would have been nice.
I know this is an old upload and I hope that it's still monitored. I have this same fdr x3000 and would love to know what current app is needed to transfer video from the cam to a Samsung S23 Ultra. I use it on my motorcycle from time to time and would love to transfer the video to my phone for editing and then upload to my RUclips channel. Please help
Hi, I recently bought my first action cam (sony FDR-X3000R) after the excellent reviews and Sony's known quality. This camera is advertised with Optical Stabilization, but when I have to choose on the menu, there are 2 option: - (Uses all-encompassing SteadyShot function when shooting movies) - (Uses SteadyShot function when shooting movies) What is the difference between both functions? They are not explained in the catalog.
when i export all files from camera to laptop all footages are in upside down mode that means totally reverse please help me out & give solution to fix this problem
I have the GW55 (not an action cam) and the card thing happens there too. Seems to be a Sony-thing. Anyways, I'm gonna get this cam before this summer and I'm really looking forward to that stabilizer.
Not a bad camera, I've had mine a few months and use it on the motorbike. The big problem I have with it is the remote has a hard time trying to connect to the camera. I changed the position of the remote so it was less than an inch from the camera, but it still sometimes refuses to connect. Most of the time it's good, but when you really need to start the recording it won't connect. Very frustrating. Any tips?
I've powered down the remote and then made sure that the camera was also off, if not, turn it off and start all over with the remote. The more wifi signal around , the worse the remote works. I'm also trying to use an i-pad and a laptop and still not being successful. I'd appreciate any tips too.
I did everything correctly but it does not turn on. The battery is in correctly, the SDcard is in correctly But when I push the power nothing happens it’s completely dead. I do not know what to do.
I am planning of buying a X3000 soon. Do I need the live view X3000R or would you say the X3000 without the Live View will be fine as well? Can the Sony App replace most functions of the Live view?
Thanks for reply. I just received my X3000R today. Luckily I had a great deal on AmazonWarehouse deal. So price difference between X3000 and X3000R was very small. I agree that the Live view is not much use as I can have my phone as an replacement. Only thing is that the phone could take slightly longer to boot up than the Live view.
hi, i just bought one. i tried it. the recording sound was pretty bad. i tried without the casing, then it was okay. but if i placed it inside the casing, it was like Mute then. any settings i should be doing?
What brand of Micro SDXC card did you use? Could I go the scandisk option S0ony Cards in Australia are talking telephone number when comes to price especially if you go above 64Gb
I've been using one of these in my FDRX3000 and my Drift Ghost XL - not that expensive to be fair ..... www.jbhifi.com.au/products/sandisk-extreme-microsdxc-128gb-160mb-s-memory-card
Warning. The SD card that the previous guy recommended to you, has a MAXIMUM write speed, of 90MB/s. THIS camera has a maximum write speed of 100MB/s. ...if you record in a 100MB/s mode with a 90MB/s capped card, your recording WILL have skipped frames. Stick to microSD cards with a v60/V90 rating. Their max write speeds are 100+MB/s. I use this SD card in my camera. www.amazon.com/Lexar-Professional-1800x-microSDXC-UHS-II/dp/B07QM348D9/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=v90+microsd&qid=1581665149&sr=8-2 No dropped frames.
An un named source within Sony admits that the instructions are terrible. There needs to be a step by step video about how to set this camera up up and get it running. The run doesn't time mater. Excruciating detail does. You can call it the FDR3000 For Dummies.
I agree, fuck you ryche rising. Many thanks for uploading this video since I am considering to buy this camera before summer. Im not sure should I do it since I want external mic to it. Is there some way to attach mic to camera and hold them both in one hand.
I'm having problems with their video encryption. Sony's video editor is lame. The only other editing software that I can get to import it is Windows Movie Maker. I've tried Adobe Premier and HitFilm but the import results are skippy. I think I should have got a GoPro, if nothing else, for their software.
I'll stick to my GoPro Hero 5 black you don't need waterproof casing you don't need a watch to use the camera I know Sony products are good but you're paying a lot of money to have extras to make the camera work. you can't view video straight off the camera because it has no viewing screen all this is a miniature version of a sony camcorder
I would say it is very convenient to have the live view remote, I mainly use it on my helmet so a screen on the camera would be useless. of course this is relative to MY kind of use of this camera. This being said I never had troubles with older gopros which had no screen since I could connect my phone to it

The Micro SD does not have proper orientation, either way it can still be slotted in only to find that the orientation is wrong and re-do.
Interesting video, with regards to how the battery is inserted, if you go to page 14 of the user manual it shows very clearly how to insert the battery but I do agree it would make more sense if the green arrow symbol on the battery was face up.
thank you so much ive been trying to get my head around it , its easy when you know thanks .
I had the exact issues as I tried to figure out these issues. Don't forget to Format your memory card.
By the Way when you were opening the battery door you should have showed how to open that latch wihere you see the yellow in the back of the camera it look like you were yanking the battery door open without showing us how to open the door great video by the way.

So stylish and Simple but effective way entire features are explained, In one word Lovely #MohanBilaye
AWESOME! Nicely done. Thanks for sharing as we had the same thought process with the battery.
An excellent and helpful video - very good for potential buyers and even better for Sony engineers.

Thanks good info... Any suggestions for audio, any specific settings for this... can't hear nothing, with my cam
Having the same issue now :(
Kevin Powell reset the camera in menu, mine did the same thing and after reset it works
it is so helpful to watch your video thanks
Correction about the previous post: The run time doesn't matter.
are there any small external mics that would improve sound quality? I almost bought the Garmin, but image stability is better on the sony.

How to do focus and defocuse in this camera ?
I did everything correctly but it does not turn on. The battery is in correctly, the SDcard is in correctly But when I push the power nothing happens it’s completely dead. I do not know what to do.

" Thank You 4 Sharing ! "
To me Sony fdr x3000 bit small. Not like handycam whith 16x or more zoom. Also see Sony bridge camera with good zoom. Amout $200
hi, i just bought one. i tried it. the recording sound was pretty bad. i tried without the casing, then it was okay. but if i placed it inside the casing, it was like Mute then. any settings i should be doing?
Of course the sound was bad with the casing on. You can't have it both ways.
Is there a new version for this sony camera? Or is anything new coming up?
Where are Panasonic and JVC with action cameras....especially when they release so many models of similar cameras

No dropped frames.
How to select which video to playback using HDMI?
Which Drone can mount FDR X3000?
Is the live remote is waterproof? Is the camera waterproof without casing?
the camera is splashproof. about the remote, let's wait for someone to answer that.
very useful!!
came here for technical tips. left for user issues -.-
Ya I just got this camera but no audio when I make video what's that about
iron_sight_ 87 i have the same problem did you find the solution ?
An un named source within Sony admits that the instructions are terrible. There needs to be a step by step video about how to set this camera up up and get it running. The run doesn't time mater. Excruciating detail does. You can call it the FDR3000 For Dummies.
nice video!!
How about max capacity of memory?
Depends on the SD card. I have a 128 GB U3 card. Needs to be U3 if you are shooting in 4k
What happens if you have 4 of these cameras? Do you need 4 watches on your wrist? lol or can they all pair to one watch somehow?
dohc1974 You can pair 5 cams to the same remote or smartphone.
Awesome! Thank you!
thank you
Can u stop and pause the same video.
Half of the action happens outside of the video frame...
Stop complaining. It was easy to understand everything, wasn't it? And how much did you pay for his advices in this video? Wanna money back maybe?
I agree, fuck you ryche rising. Many thanks for uploading this video since I am considering to buy this camera before summer. Im not sure should I do it since I want external mic to it. Is there some way to attach mic to camera and hold them both in one hand.
New wanna be video maker ! everyone things they need to do everything these days!!!! lmao!
more thanks
Thanks
I'm having problems with their video encryption. Sony's video editor is lame. The only other editing software that I can get to import it is Windows Movie Maker. I've tried Adobe Premier and HitFilm but the import results are skippy. I think I should have got a GoPro, if nothing else, for their software.
You're right..video editor is bad ! Not at all user-friendly.
This is not a bug, this is a feature) ha ha
You can connect the watch on the belt the same way as you remove it ... no click.
check b4 post. thanks
wow u need to read your manual
nice telling but empty details is so much
There's a lot of confusion in this video
Your mom said the same thing
half of what you are trying to show is out of frame. lol.
well done otherwise. nicely explained tutorial
Agree, it is inconvenient. I have been facing this problem since I bought my FDR 3000X two months back.
I would say it is very convenient to have the live view remote, I mainly use it on my helmet so a screen on the camera would be useless. of course this is relative to MY kind of use of this camera. This being said I never had troubles with older gopros which had no screen since I could connect my phone to it
You can buy the camera without the remote and use your phone to do the same stuff.
😅
So where are the tips?!
Read your manual !!!! thats why manuals are made! how can u make a video without reading the manual?????
