Just stumbled upon this video about two and a half years later. Would just like to say welcome to the autistic community! I was diagnosed (officially) in 2009 at the ripe age of 19 (currently 33) and I'm STILL learning to unmask, it's a long process for sure. If you happen to read this and are still looking for more autistic people to befriend, feel free to reach out! :)

I’ve become so traumatized up to this point (I just turned 30 at the end of January) that my manic pixie dream girl mask crumbled and turned into severe agoraphobia/isolation. I hate it, but it’s also such a mind twist because I don’t think I, or anyone else, would have ever predicted my social butterfly ass ever ending up completely trapped and defeated by something like walls or a door. Honestly it seems like I’m regressing, then again, wouldn’t that just be letting myself be authentic, even if it seems “childish” or whatever to others? I finally realize I love myself, my thoughts, my heart, my taste of music, and I rather hang out with me than anyone else because of all that, ya know? (after decades of perceived ‘self loathing’) Now it’s switched to being disappointed and feeling so completely failed by countless adults, both family and professionals, my entire life. When there was no way to miss the diagnosis. Without any family, friends, support system, money, or help.. I’m SO LOST with where to even start or what to even do now. I’ve spent most of my life shouting from the tops of buildings and not a single person cares to look up.

For the past few years I’ve questioned whether I’m autistic or not. I’m a bit awkward, I get overwhelmed easily, my sense of humour is a little bit weird and quite literal but it’s hard to know if I’m just a very anxious person or if there’s something more going on. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for watching! There are a lot of great resources out there so I would recommend doing some research if you’re interested in learning more! But I know what you mean- I’m also very anxious and it can be hard to know what causes what!

Hi! Could you possibly give me the details of the person/company you went with for your diagnosis please?☺️

What exactly did they mean by provisional? Is that official or would their be more steps to be officially diagnosed? Were your employers willing to accommodate your needs with your diagnosis being provisional? I was going to sub but you haven't made a video in two years. :(

I’m 39 & I know I’m undiagnosed autistic. I’m just trying to figure out how to get to a mental health professional who can officially diagnosed me.

Very young looking for age 31. Have you looked into autism and laetrile (B17) I saw a study that showed good results just wondered have you found any studies about it? People need to learn to change themselves to adapt in a way that is supportive to a person that has autism. Rather than try to change that person that has autism. Because it is wrong in my view to try and change someone that has autism. But, it is fine to help them deal with changes that naturally happen to all of us in life. Usually, I have found providing you let the person with autism know what is going on they do tend to understand. And, are actually fine about it. But people out of ignorance forget to tell the person with autism that they might be doing something different today. Thumbs up. Nicely presented video clear and to the point.

Not officially diagnosed with either ASD or ADHD but I figured out that I was very likely both just before I turned 34 (End of 2017).

I'm 30 been referred for autism assessment and waiting for appointment with counsellor and psychology well-being practitioner. I'm worried it's going to take years to get Autism assessment through NHS. Could counsellor or psychological well-being practitioner give a provisional diagnosis?

I doubt a counsellor can do that, not sure about psychological well-being practitioner. Your best option would be a psychologist or psychiatrist
