      2 things to remember about Zuko & Iroh's hug scene: 1) In the very 1st episode Zuko told his soldiers to wake Iroh when he was hunting the Avatar, but here he waits patiently overnight for Iroh to wake up to apologize to him. 2) When Zuko begged for his father's forgiveness after speaking out against his plan he got his faced scarred & burned, but when Zuko begged for Iroh's forgiveness after betraying him Iroh immediately forgave him. Iroh was more of a loving & understanding father to Zuko than Ozai ever was.

    Avatar Yangchen’s wisdom is the most interesting to me. She believes, as Aang does, that all life is sacred and that the taking of life is morally wrong. Yet she still counsels him that ending Ozai’s is necessary for the world to balance itself.
    Despite popular opinion, a wrong can make a right. Being bound to one set of morals and ethics limits and constraints your actions, and becomes just another weapon to be used against you.

      It drives me crazy that all the memes depict Kyoshi as bloodthirsty when that reputation belongs to Yangchen. It’s such a divergence from what you’d expect and Kyoshi’s advice was “no justice, no peace.”

    I love how when they're planning what to do and Sokka asks what they should do Iroh just reflects the question back at him. It's an acknowledgement that Sokka doesn't need to be told what to do, he's a capable leader and should be trusted to identify his own plan.

    • @mateustavaresribeiro6470
      @mateustavaresribeiro6470 5 месяцев назад +2

      I think its not just for Sokka. In one way or another he saw all these children grow up along their journey. He saw them build who they are and become stronger. I think he considers that these children are extremely capable of deciding for themselves where to be at this moment in the war. I see Iroh as someone who loves teaching younger people by giving them opportunities to make their own decisions. It was like that with Zuko from the beginning to the end of the series.

    Not only is Aang battling the moral implications of killing Ozai, he also likely feels that killing would be him turning his back to his airbending culture. As the LAST airbender, it would feel like the symbolic death to his entire culture.

    I love that the writers show us that not only is Aang continuing to perfect his bending, everyone in the gang is continuing to improve as well! Prime example right here: Toph. I’m sure what happened in the desert really affected her being helpless against the sandbenders, and she’s spend time since perfecting sandbending. It also really shows how incredible of an earthbender she is, mastering multiple subsets. Seismic sense. Truth seeing. Metalbending. Sandbending.

    So my interpretation of the main reason behind Aang’s reluctance to kill Fire Lord Ozai is because he is essentially the last of his people(Air Nomads.)
    So I think from his P.O.V is that him killing someone essentially “taints” his culture and him being the last of it probably makes him feel like it’ll be truly lost if he breaks/disregards the Monk’s and his peoples(Air Nomads) teachings.

    It's called Avatar: the Last Airbender for a reason. Often times I think people forget how much Aang is his own person with his own Morals. His culture is extremely important to him and it's more than understandable why, even though no living human can relate to the same level. We are used to killing in any form of media to the point where we want to see it happen, but lets not forget that Aang is a literal child. If anyone is going to be Idealistic in the show its going to be Aang.

    Hey Meesh and Dee "Happy Tuesday". You two are killing it with the Cosplay. The first two Great episodes of the final season is great. That Firenation war meeting was insane and just show how evil Firelord Ozai truly is. Now Aang is really feeling the pressure. Zuko teaching Aang how to redirect lightning was a cool moment.
    Toph had me dying during the practice fight when she called herself "Melon Lord" She was so into the bad girl character 😂🤣
    Aang struggling to not to kill the Firelord is something I can understand because it goes against his beliefs as well his against the superhero archetype. I was surprised when Aang left the island Zuko called him by his name and not the Avatar 15:04
    Lol at Toph wanting to go a life changing trip with Zuko. Ozai no longer the Firelord but the Phoenix King. It nice to see Jun again after episode 15 of the first season.
    I like how we got the different perspective of the Avatars of the past. Not surprising on Avatar Kyoshi on what she would had done. Nice seeing the White Lotus (Iroh, Bumi, Jeoung Jeoung, Pakku and Piandao).
    Great moment for Zuko and Iroh. I never brought this up but Greg Baldwin is the best replacement of the voice of Iroh after the original actor Mako passed away. But anyway I hope you two have a wonderful day. Stay safe, take care and stay amazing.

    Another big part why Aang is SO adamant about not betraying his philosophy is: he is the last one of his culture. Whatever he decides to do is what his entire culture decides to do. Him deciding to kill the firelord would be the equivalent of all the air nomads collectively doing it. He isnt just one individual deciding to break with the rules of his culture, he now IS his culture.

    The wisdom that the previous Avatars gave Aang is what he needed to hear. Sometimes you need to think about the answer for yourself just like how Zuko had to make his own choice to help Aang. And it’s also noteworthy none of the Avatars told him to kill they just said do your destiny and bring peace. “You must be decisive; Only justice will bring peace; You must actively shape your destiny and the destiny of the world. Selfless duty calls you to sacrifice your own spiritual needs and do whatever it takes to protect the world.” Also I think Kyoshi seemed to have the most Airbender like wisdom which most would find surprising given her portrayal in the show.

    - I love how when uncle Iroh told Zuko that he needs help to fight Azula, and Zuko right away without hesitation asked Katara to help him. Because he already witnessed himself how powerful Katara is (in The Southern Raiders episode).
    - About Lion Turtle, it's known as one of the most (if not the most) spiritual beings in the Avatar universe. They actually mention it several times, like in 'The Library' episode when Aang showed Sokka the painting of Lion Turtle and Sokka didn't really care. Also in the 'Sokka's Master' episode when Master Piandao said Sokka has heart as strong as a Lion Turtle. They also have put some easter eggs of Lion Turtle figure in several places throughout the series. You'll find out more about the existence of the Lion Turtle(s) 😉 in The Legend of Korra.
    Well your biggest mistake is to not have tissue (or water 🤣) for the series finale.

    Aang is the last airbender and the last of his people. The reason he struggles with killing the firelord is he, as a 12 year old boy, is the sole bearer of having the responsibility of not only saving the world but keeping an entire way of life alive. Him giving up his Air Nomad beliefs would truly mean his culture is dead for good. This is a position no other avatar in history has ever been put in, not even Yangchen or the other Air Nomad avatars. His past lives are not omniscient and can only offer advice from their own personal life and experiences. Considering no other avatar has ever been the last remaining member of their respective nation, it makes sense that Aang is so conflicted. If the Air Nomads were still around and well, I doubt Aang would have had as much of a hesitation for killing the firelord

    there is no "wake up Aang" here. for all intents and purposes, they had a good plan. the comet sounded scary when Roku first introduced it, but the true scope of what it could do was never explained. The key to the comet falls on Ozai as much as the hero,....it doesn't stick around forever. And it's a big world. In truth, using it to scorch a portion of the Earth Kingdom isn't world ending, albeit devastating, but it's very important where and when he does this. With this power he could kill the Avatar or do any number of things, but Aang and company have an interesting strategy: delude him into thinking he's won, wait for him to do nothing as a result, and attack when he's lost his greatest advantage. Ozai would have gained tremendous victory by this point, but as we see, the world is not so easily conquered.

      @turtlesandmoreturtles4140 4 месяца назад

      Well other than a LOT of people would die. Roku says himself that balance would be impossible to restore if Ozai was allowed to use the comet.

    "it's true."?? no, it's not true....the conversation between Ozai and Azula at the end of ep. 18 is VERY IMPORTANT. if you think, you'll realize Ozai doesn't need her anywhere but where he decides to put her. he's sidelining her. giving her a title and a mission....that essentially are not needed. perhaps some minor utility comes of it, but he's excluding her for any number of reasons you can imagine. more important than this seeming indifference, is how it effects Azula. this is such an important reveal. the show has been implying it through extreme indirect storytelling up to this point, but, just like her brother, Azula is still a 14 year old girl who wants her parents approval. More than your standard 14 year old, she's been raised in a nation that puts her parents as leaders of royal and practically divine heritage in some beliefs. The pressure is at an unhealthy and absurd level. One left and the other only gives praise when she succeeds at missions. Neither child was going to develop normally. Zuko had some very fortunate and unexpected events that broke him from his bondage to his father. Azula didn't. She is there to serve as an example to the viewer of what this insanity breeds. People who break from it, like Iroh and Ursa, are exceptions.
