On the contrary many of us fans love the show because of the sexual violence. Sticking your heads in the sand won't change the fact that sexual violence will always be there no matter how hard we try to eradicate it.
The murder scenes and war scenes are fine but the rape scenes aren't? You are offended by the rape scenes because rape primarily happens to women. Whereas murder and death in war primarily happens to men. Just say that you don't like this show because you are a feminist and it offends your perception of the world. But, honestly, we really don't need to hear how weak minded and terrified you are of things that have happened throughout history.
Me too because since moving out in 2019 I haven't had the money for anything that I can use to watch this I don't got money for Netflix stars Hulu none of that All of it goes to bills So this was really helpful to catch me up on things
@@pattylytwyn3800 Other than my immediate family who I have recommended the show to, I've never met anyone who has seen or heard of outlander. I think it should be as popular as game of thrones was in its height. I think outlander is only popular in certain circles (book readers perhaps). In terms of the general public I believe it to be unheard of.
While the historian in me would love to visit the 18th century I wouldn’t want to live there permanently. It’s hard to believe our protagonists from the 20th century would choose to live so far in the past. Life for women in particular was very tough with few legal rights. Life for non-white people in Europe & the American colonies was worse. War, disease, famine & plague were all common throughout the world in the 18th century including America. There’s many legitimate complaints about life today but the truth is the average person never had it so good in comparison to human history.
Seriously, thank you so much for this recap. I tried to keep up with it, because I did find the time travelling aspect interesting, but the ridiculously long wait between seasons and having to pay extra for Starz all those months without the one show I actually signed up for, was just too much. All the highlights of SIX seasons in roughly 30 minutes? SOLD! ;)
not to mention how many times does jamie and clare seperate. where i am stuck is the new charecter, who could have been the daughter they lost in paris? it confuses me as wouldn't she be older than Brianna .. since 20 years past? or is there a 3rd daughter they lost and got back
This was so cool!! There were things I'd seen, but didn't necessarily get. But hearing them like this somehow helped..lol I really thought I was going to have to watch the last few seasons (again) BEFORE starting the new one!!!
I’ve read all the books and enjoyed them. After watching the recap of all the drama I just want to scream ‘Enough already! It’s too much!’ 😂 It’s not so bad when spread over thousand paged books. 😅
I never read the books because they are just a bit too complicated for me to understand but my mom recap them for me since over my childhood she fell in love with them. Then I started watching the TV show when it came out Which is why my mom bought stars and that actually made it a little easier for me to understand because of my special needs making a hard for me to understand certain things. And also helps with my love for things like nordics Scottish people and history
The only thing I know about this show is that there are a ridiculous amount of rape scenes and with that information - I’m good with just the recap lol
Well it is set in the 1700’s after all and let’s be real: if you were a woman, Native American or black it sucked. Still a good read though. I don’t know if people have the stamina to read what is now a 9 book series nowadays
This is my first time enjoying your RUclips channel. Great content! Looking forward to hearing more from you! Your video was so informative. Thank you so much! Thank God I now don't have to watch all those seasons to know what happened. Who has that kind of time?!
The Baby's name is not Jemy Bei's son's name is Jeramiah and Mertaugh did NOT attempt to get Jamie's aunt to marry him. She wanted him to ask her to Marry him but he did not.
It’s a good show. It shows some interesting History from the 18th century. But the timing of their arrival in America doesn’t make sense. Battle of Culloden was 1745. French & Indian War was 1754-63. American Revolution didn’t start until 1775. Jamie should be fighting in the French & Indian war as part of the colonial militia on the British side. Jamie would be an old man by the time of the American Revolution.
I've recently been reading the books in which Jamie is only in his mid 20s for the Battle of Colloden, so 30 years later, he would be in his 50s which I think is what they are portraying in the show anyway right? Love the show.. but it's just fiction so might not be timeline accurate :)
He is! Hahaha he's only barely 20 years old in the battle of colloden. By the time the revolution happens in America he has grey hair and can barely see without his glasses.
After watching season 1 but skipping through the last couple of episodes, I decided to instead just watch a recap of the other seasons. Boy am I glad. What a time waste, if I had watched all seasons.
15:39 okay, so why wouldn’t you go back in time with gold or something? I could trade knowledge of how to make smokeless powder, and tnt and Minnie balls.
It is a nice show but too much centered only on romance. I mean people could travel through time!!! Frank was a historian. It is impossible that he wouldn't have a million questions about history. Despite the pain and everything. The author doesn't use this time traveling ability enough. It is a great idea, Clare and Jamie are lovely, but it just lacks some more crazy adventures, some people from the past apearing in the present. There is adventure, but all the time we have mainly Clare and Jamie rescuing eachother. I must admit I was skipping some parts just to see if there will be some more twists including time traveling.
@@ambershoba In my opinion she was really intense. She had opinions way too fast and didn’t give the other characters time to breathe. I think she tends to forget she’s in the 18th century (when she was). Also the actress’s American accent was really annoying, i think they could’ve gotten an american who could nail the early american accent from the 1900s. She sounded like she was cosplaying as an american, which she was, but in a long form show like this hearing a cosplay of an american was really irritating. I think the actress’s acting was really breathy, and over-exercised in order to compensate for the character’s personality. And overall i just think the character was unbearable and tbh just shouldn’t have been added. (but i still think it gave a dynamic to the storyline).
@@citygirlsup-ih9pj your first sentence seems like you’re describing Claire, Brianna was usually scared that people would be afraid of her ideas I don’t recall her being intense. You didn’t really explain why you think she is insufferable only that you didn’t like the casting choice.
@@ambershoba Claire and brianna are very similar! i just personally think brianna is more intense with her communication with other characters. And yes I did explain why i think she’s insufferable lmao what? you may want to read again. Everything paired together made her insufferable to me and that’s why I personally think she’s annoying. The actor makes the character and her actress made her personality even more unbearable. Her being afraid about her inventions was only a small side plot for her entire character, that doesn’t make her entire character. She brought her intensity from her century to the 18th century and i think that’s what the writers were trying to do. Her character is SUPPOSED to be intense, but that doesn’t mean i can’t find it annoying.
@@citygirlsup-ih9pj I don’t know if this is an agree to disagree situation but I’m still confused why you think she’s insufferable, like what exactly did she do? Who was she so intense with? I might be forgetting some of the series
This show is so crazy. The plot armor is the only thing that holds everything together.

i love Recap & Chill, some shows are exciting but take a while to get going. These hit the main beats and make it handy to catch up.
Thank you for recapping this! I can’t watch the show due to all the sexual violence, but I’ve always wanted to know what happens. Thank you!
Totally agree with you. I'm interested to know what happens but I can't watch this either. I call it the 'rapey show'. 😞
