This 18-kilometer (11-mile) beach is the longest in the Pacific Ocean in Panama and features volcanic grey sand where beautiful sunsets occur. Mornings are ideal for swimming as the beach is calmer, while in the afternoons there are always waves. This beach is known for surfers who come to catch their sandy break. You can also take a horseback ride on the beach or through one of the estate's trails.
In the evenings, they light bonfires on the beach and during the day you can play volleyball. They also have bicycles. For those who prefer indoor exercises, they can use the gym equipped with changing rooms and a sauna, but with so many outdoor options, it's not really necessary. They have three professional tennis courts, which like the rest of the facilities, are included for those who stay or spend the day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children have their own play area. I spent a wonderful few days at this resort. The beauty, the attention by the staff, the restaurant, everything was wonderfully presented. I hope to return one day.

Las Olas has its downsides, but the resort is nice to visit if you just want to chill without large crowds, or to enjoy the small personable events. I love La Barqueta beach. True, it's not a safely swimmable surf, but that is part of the beach's charm. If the beach were more swimmable and less of a black sand beach, you wouldn't be able to walk an almost deserted beach because it would be lined with hotels and troves of people. At least there's one place left on this planet that's not overrun with commercial development!👍 We should all be thankful Playa La Barqueta is what it is...a little slice of paradise..🏝️

Wow, it looks like a hidden gem in David city! I love the idea of having a small and peaceful place for swimming, away from crowded beaches. The black sand and and beautiful scenery are absolutely stunning! Thanks for sharing this amazing video!

Las Olas is a gorgeous beach, however, personally the waves were too much for actually swimming. That under current last May was no joke.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I completely agree with you. I personally found the waves to be quite strong as well, but as someone who isn't the best swimmer or surfer, I thought it could have just been me.. On the bright side, the black sand on the beach is a unique and beautiful feature, the pool was really nice, and the place itself was very peaceful and not too crowded. Maybe, checking out nearby islands like Boca Brava would be a good idea. I've heard some really positive reviews about them and I hope they have calmer waters for swimming. Of course, Bocas del Toro is also a fantastic place for swimming, but it does take a few hours to get there from David..
