I have a yearly tradition to hit shuffle at 00:00 on my birthday. On my 34th birthday, the random song was Anniversary Of An Uninteresting Event. That was a poetic moment.
Definitely didn't expect him to speak about Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event. Love when Chino talks about music. He has a very open view on everything.
Been riding with Deftones since 1996 seen them live at least 50 times and still love and respect them today. Kinda weird but I always wanted them to cover a Jodeci song from one of their first records. Great interview!!
This man has turned me on to so much good music through these kinda interviews...can never get enough. Thank you for uploading!! oh and Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event was the only Deftones song I found so unusual but by far one of their most beautiful songs. The emotion pours outta that one. Glad he's proud of that creation.
john1120 oh I do it's just Chino has years and years of digging under his belt that when he does share it's someone I've usually not heard in a particular genre. He's not jerky whatsoever...
Yeah I really love Chino's eclectic tastes in music. I also love Depeche Mode, but surprisingly didnt discover them through Chino, I discovered them independently. For Deftones fans, I would highly recommend this band called Thrice too, very very eclectic, all over the place as far as heavy and softer music is concerned. Sort of like a newer Deftones, but theyre also not new either.
Deftones is THE greatest band ever. Also THE greatest cover band of all time. They always choose the best songs to cover and they always make the songs even better somehow
I got to meet Chino on this tour in Manchester, such a lovely guy. He chatted to us for a bit and signed my white pony cd. The best gig I've ever been to
please get wes borland to do this segment. he has ALWAYS had the best music recommendations. back in 02-03 when he was doing eat the day, he would talk a LOT about all the unusual artists he listened to, and did this gigantic double list of all the music he listened to on the eat the day website. from that list, and my own stuff i wanted to buy, i made this gigantic list of something like 2000 cd's to buy that I've been chipping away at ever since 02-03 ,and it did a lot to make me not musically stupid as fuck (back then everyone was getting into emo, but instead i was following up on this list). were it not for that giant list list, i would have wound up musically stupid as fuck. wes, chino, and trent reznor have always had the best music recommendations out of anyone i listen to.
DACE its not the same deftones. U just said they sound different...but it's still the tones? So a statement like that is hinting they have changed..my point exactly they dont have the original tones sound..so proves my point they have changed completely after chi's death.
john1120 I get what you mean, but they got older and it's impossible to stay the same after almost 30 years, they do sound different, more serious and mature, but I still get the deftones vibe off of the songs. Yes chi passing changed the way they play, I do get what you mean, but after all they still sound like nobody else, just deftones.
DACE no they do sound different they lost their sound..and it is possible for a band to keep their sound even PTW sounds the same they have been in the game for yrs since the 90s and they have the same sound..chi was just a genius who took them further with their sound and lyrics..i mean the new shit is jus copy paste imo..rocket skates pissed me off so bad i had to stop fukng with them plus the bands hits huge popularity when chi dies smh..deftones is just a hype trap now appealing to new fan boys..thats why adrenaline to Saturday night wrist are the tones timeline i fuk with..rn they are just overhyped true story.

I know the chance is tiny BUT, does anyone recognise the song playing in the background at 12:55 ? Have been searching for it for years. . . .
Please Chino cover BBD.

Chino is god. David Goggins, Chino Moreno, Elon Musk are cool guys.
sad deftones will never be the same without chi i stopped listening to them after diamond eyes.. their unique sound left and so did chi..
I completely disagree, they still sound like deftones, different but still deftones.
