Don't wear warm clothes because it is a hard hike underground, and you will quickly overheat. Needing extra lights is no joke. It is pitch black in there, and it takes a long time to hike over the uneven floor. You will need your hands from time to time, so multiple headlamps is a really good idea. Make sure all your lights have fresh batteries before you start.

I have photo's of ghosts in there! The ending point where you turn around, is where the cave was purposely collapsed (blasted closed) due to people getting lost in there. A few died in there as well. If you look behind some of the cracks in the walls, you'll see ice. Totally awesome to experience! Thank you for showing this!

Hey Scotty, I forwarded the link to this video to my son Mark in Chandler, who graduated from NAU and is a geologist. He's been through the 'tube' of course, but I have not, and I need to make a trek up there. Regards to Megan, good to see her enjoying you trips out.

Wow, Scotty! I haven't been in that cave since the 70s! Great video! Congratulations on getting engaged to Meghan. We look forward to your future travels together. Good luck! I absolutely love your channel! The information you give everyone really makes you feel like you understand where you are at and the history of the area. Keep up the great work!

In 2021, my wife and I drove from our home in south Texas to do some overlanding in AZ. We spent six weeks driving trails found on your website. We had an awesome time. Thank you for providing the information.

Nice to see you have a companion to join you on your treks. Looks like you will be refitting your vehicle and adding additional equipment for the new partnership. Great video and enjoyed the information on the Lava River Cave. Thanks for sharing.

My brothers and I used to hike that several times every summer back in the 80s now I’ve heard that’s a human toilet. Used to be low key and now i’ve heard it’s ruined.

On my trip across the painted desert on Search and Rescue training, passing by chocolate falls, I looped back to do the tube, then through the volcano field to the north. Nice video!

It was a great spot, I live near the area and used to frequently visit. Now it’s full of people all the time which I wouldn’t mind if people didn’t use the cave as a bathroom

@@Fireman0418 honestly last time I went I didn’t smell anything but I did overhear some people bragging about peeing in the back of the cave and honestly kinda lost interest in returning. I should check it out again

Have seen ice at the end of this cave. Definitely bring more than one light per person.

Cool to see you drove a car, I maxed out my civic in northern az and am looking for a higher clearance vehicle but… this looks great. If I can get there on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid people. Lol

Pro photographer here. I am going to Flagstaff today, I think I might add this to my shot list for work. Question, how long did it take to get to the end? Was there any splits along the way that I need to be aware of? I do not want to go down a side cave and end up in a Mr Ballen video haha. thank you!

Ah, I remember this place. I went there when I was a little kid and got my foot stuck between a couple rocks. I thought I was gonna be stuck in the lava tube.
    Obviously I wasn’t.
