Why is a healthy baby with no complications even brought to the radiant warmer? In our hospital all babies are placed skin to skin on mother's abdomen, with delayed cord clamping, unless advanced resusitation is needed.... and even then-- in almost every case cord clamping is delayed (vaginal and c/s, preemies and full term).
I thought suctioning is no longer recommended, just wiping off secretions. And if we do do suction, considering that babies are obligate nose breathers, would you do nose first, then mouth? Thanks for your answer.
Suctioning is still recommended, it's the only sure way of getting rid of deep seated secretions.suctioning the mouth first is ideal to prevent aspiration if the nasal were suctioned first.
it is a shame that this video did not first cover evidence based practice for a stable newborn of immediate uninterrupted skin to skin until the first feeding or at least an hour. taking the baby to the warmer immediately and wrapping them up before family "can come over" is sad and outdated.

The prophet of Allah (God) made mandatory the practise of Taḥnīk (تَحْنِيكِ) for newborn babies, which is an Islamic ceremony of touching the lips of a newborn baby with honey, sweet juice or pressed dates. The taḥnīk also *exercises the muscles of the mouth* and helps with the *circulation of blood* in the mouth - this may help the baby to be able to suck and take mother's milk. It is also credited to prevent *neonatal hypoglycemia* in newborn babies. Now tell me. The western world has just acquired this knowledge. With all the gadgets and equipment and technology and professional knowledge, skills and team work - how did a man who neither knew how to read and write at the time of his prophethood, *know* such a thing? ojbm123111 The baby is brought to the radiant warmer because it’s plastic and it’s for demonstration proposes.
In case of LSCS during AMTSL, cause the mother is still in the labor phase, as long as I can think off.

Why are we starting suction from mouth and not nose???
because newborns are NASAL breathers , imagine clearing the nose only for them to take a breath and suck in all the junk still in their mouth
