On "My Car Story" we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago IL on 9-17-20.
We're looking at a 1960 Ford Thunderbird Convertible in Montecarlo Red Paint. The car comes with the upgrade optional factory 430 CI V8 engine producing 350 HP.
The car's Owner is Dennis Roxworthy. Dennis’s had this car since 1986. He shares his Father had a Thunderbird when he started driving, his Brother had one, and when he drove the car it always made him feel “special” so he bought one, and we get to ride in this one and feel “special” too.
ENJOY! Авто/Мото
All it needs is Elvis, a surf board, a guitar, and some leggy starlets on an ocean beach. I was just a little kid but I remember these beauties well. Those tail lights are iconic.
Hi 55points, I like the way you think! Lou
Oh yes I remember Ann Margaret...
I could've bought a couple of new houses for that price then...
If I could have one car in the whole world this would be the one. What a beauty.

From 1955 until 1971, the T-Bird occupied an exalted and unique position in the Ford lineup.
Lou, the more of these you can showcase, the better.

The T Bird is an icon
From 1957 through 1960 we lived next-door to a doctor who bought a brand new Thunderbird every year. He had a 1960 black Thunderbird convertible and I thought it was the bees knees!
Hi Brock, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your neighbor the Doctors cars :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Such a classic T-Bird! The package as a whole is awesome, but my favorite aspect of this generation of the Thunderbirds are the taillights. They always reminded me of jet propulsion taking off down the runway. Gee, I winder why? LOL!! The coming of the jet age. Thanks Lou & Dennis for a great Saturday morning treat!
Hi Rusty, Happy to read this one is "awesome" :-) You're welcome, Lou
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot my account password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Korbyn Brysen Instablaster :)
@Remington Tanner I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Increible car, the roof that hides on the trunk it's fantastic, more so coming from such an old car. It's so clean and perfect that it seems that came from the time tunnel.
Hi Fabio, You're right. When you get in such a clean car it takes you right back to 1960 :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
They had replicas of these at Playland in Western Springs. Headlights and taillights worked. You got to drive them on a little track. It was great.
Hi Jim, Happy to read this car brings back memories :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Hi Jeffrey, Happy to read you enjoy this car & episode :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you, Lou
Oh my! my Favorite Bird. '60 T'bird ragtop. WOW! STUNNING! I love the retractable cover. One of my Grand Uncle had one like this, same color and white top. I love it when he revved the engine, got goose bump, I was fairly young in the early 70s. I believed the car lasted until the 90s. I don't know what had happened to it. It flew back to its nest LOL.
Hi Vern, Happy to read this is a favorite of yours & glad to read this Bird gave you Goose bumps too :-) Lou
Love the square birds and the 60’s were the best of the three years. This one is exceptional in every way! He needs to take it out and run it hard to blow all of the crap out of it!
Hi Craig, Happy to read "Love the square birds" :-) Glad you enjoy this one, Lou

Beautiful automobile, a friend of mine had one with a 460 in it you can see the gas gauge move going down the street Good up load Lye.

If the Jetsons had a car. Beautiful 💖 Thanks Lou!
Hi motorTranz, Good call! My pleasure sharing this one with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Wow......that literally took over a full minute for the top to come down. Time consuming, but what a mechanical dream. The amount of thought and time to make this happen in 1960 is just amazing.
Hi Racoldgin, Happy to read you appreciate the engineering to make the top come up and down on this car :-) Hope you Subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this RUclips Channel, Lou
Very nice Square Bird. These are not appreciated enough in my view. Great Car Story Lou! Thank you!
Hi Jeff, Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) Glad to read you enjoy the story, and you're welcome, Lou
Beautiful example. Dennis's cars never disappoint when focusing on even the most minute details. Many don't realize that sales of the T-Bird really took off when the square-birds were introduced in 1958. Buyers who always wanted one in '55-'57 often hesitated due to the limitations of them being a 2-seater. They square-birds lost that true sports roadster feel, but they were more practical. I particular like the '60 for one single reason - the triple tail lamps.
Hi Joseph, Happy to read you enjoy this "Beautiful example" :-) The "triple tail lamps" are cool, Lou
A real beauty of the golden era. I love it! 👌❤️
Hi Jean-Pierre, Happy to read you "love it!" :-) Lou
Thumbs up now… Watching later… This one… It’s a beauty… I’ll comment when i watch the entire video. Off to work… Thanks Lou
Thank you! Business before pleasure. Well done John.
Now THAT'S an American car. In a stunning color combo too. Granted, quality control wasn't a big deal in the 60's and it was rare if all the power options all worked at any given time, but it was so pretty, nobody cared.
Hi J P, Happy to share this American car with you :-) Lou
Such a beautiful and pretty artistic shot when the top was going down with the red car, green barn and water tower in the background!!
Thank you for sharing :-)
Lou you never fail to delive ,,,,nice car this one is a jewel ,,top's and red too!
Hi Kenneth, Happy to read you enjoy this "jewel" :-) Lou
Hey there's Dennis again! Beautiful Thunderbird! Those seats look really comfortable.

Damn ! Dennis has quite a collection and this T-bird is a stunner . Thanks again Lou and also thanks to Dennis for sharing his collection.
Hi Michael, My pleasure sharing this one with you and you're welcome :-) Good news! Dennis has more....stay tuned, Lou
Another great video Lou. My Uncle Sam had a red hardtop the same year model in the late 1960s. He said that he got it cheap because none of the power windows worked. He got them them fixed and drove it for about 10 years and it got wrecked in a pile up wreck on a busy interstate in the late 1970s.
Hi PlymouthDuster 225, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Uncle Sams car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Nicest 1960 Thunderbird ihave ever seen...... Groovy
Hi Lance, High praise! Lou
now thats a true work of art! and I love those seats!.
Hi David, High praise for this design & the seats too :-) Lou
Lou, the square birds are my favorite birds. I remember my friends Mom picking me up to to take us to the swimming pool in her plum purple with cream interior Thunderbird convertible. Wow that car was gorgeous and loved riding in it. I wish I had that car. Another great video Lou. Keep em coming.
Hi Randy, Happy to read this is a favorite of yours and sounds like you have good memories of your Friends car too :-) Thank you for the kind words on the video, and encouragement to "keep em coming", it's appreciated, Lou
Just a beautiful car.
Happy to read you enjoy this one Pete :-)
Man oh man... that really is a nice car. I usually don’t pay alot of attention to this era of Fords but that’s been my mistake. I love this car and Dennis is obviously a great guy who loves his cars and life in general. Good job finding a rare beauty !
Hi Richard, Happy to read you "love this car" :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you, Lou
Thunderbird advertising was really excellent. Beautiful car. It's great that Ford still builds a convertible, the tradition goes on. Nice for Dennis to take you on a drive. 👍
Hi rizzle, Happy to read the details you enjoy of this video, and glad to read you like this beautiful car :-) The drive is fun, and glad to take you along, Lou
Thumbs up from this Ford guy.

Thanks.

I'm not sure how many '60 'bird convertibles made their way to Canada, Toronto, but I've never seen one! Just magnificent, awesome summer drive. Great job guys.

Fantastic convertible system wow !!!
High praise!
Love the "Square 'Birds! In college in suburban Youngstown late 60s worked for a small car lot. Had a 58 'Bird as a driver for my tasks. it was a gold convertible. Very fun car. Looking back. we had so many awesome "common" cars through the lot during my time there until graduation. Often wished now for a Jay Leno sized aircraft hangar to have saved them in. Hindsight of course. We just never guessed what we had into the future. Glad this video showed up in my random views!👍👍

My late uncle bought a new T-Bird every year. He very much enjoyed them and whoever got them after he was done with them essentially got a new car. If I remember correctly, they were all ragtops.
Hi Tom, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Uncles cars :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Thanks Lou and Dennis of course for these documentaries you create of these extra special classics. This automotive sculpture is astounding in its appearance and its presence. I particularly loved the 1950's dash, the typical 50's two colour interior upholstery and isn't that Lincoln engine smooth as silk and aren't those tail lights iconic. I like that Dennis described this T' Bird as solidly built twin sheet metal...built to last. A quiet, head turning cruiser.
Hi Mike, High praise for the cars on the episodes which are "extra special classics" :-) My pleasure sharing with you, Lou
What a great car,,, best looking one of all time!
Hi Paul, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
I love Dennis Lou! He is Ford blue through and through and though I am not in position $$ to own all these wonderful Fords I get to enjoy them vicariously through Dennis thanks to you!
I have been a fan of yours since the early days and meeting the Great My car Story legend is on my bucket list.
Lou last March I had quadruple bypass at 65 yrs old. Well I have new life thanks to my Lord Jesus and have never felt better! Maybe I'll run into at one of the big car shows and tell you thanks in person.
Blessings Rob
Hi Rob, Praise God you're feeling better :-) Make sure to say hello when you see me, and blessings received. God bless you, Lou

Most beautiful bird ever!! When I can afford a “fun” car it will be this or the 64-66! Loved them my entire life!! I want one as a daily driver !:-) Thanks for sharing this exceptional car!!!!
Hi Craig, High praise :-) Hope you're behind the wheel of the right car for you soon. You're welcome, Lou
I loved these T-Birds - 58 - 60 - as a kid. I thought they were the most fantastic cars in the world, and decided that when I grew up, I would buy one, not realizing at first that cars get restyled every so often. I was so disappointed when the 61 came out. "They ruined it" I claimed. Turned out that lots of adults also felt that way. Sales fell sharply that year.
Hi Michael, Happy to read you "loved these T-Birds" :-) Lou
absolutely beautiful square bird, more beautiful than the first generation thunderbirds imo
High praise for the looks of this car :-)
Beautiful car, but the 55-57 were home runs. Instant legends. Greatest birds ever made.
What a Smokin' nice Convertible T Bird!
These just scream CLASS!
GREAT VIDEO LOU
Hi TCT9MM, Happy to read you enjoy this classy car :-) Thank you for sharing you think this video is GREAT, I appreciate it, Lou
One of my favorite cars. Stunning classic.
Hi Steve C, Happy to read this is a favorite of yours :-) Lou
A fantastic car! I see that Ford ended up “repurposing” its 1957-59 Skyliner retractable roof setup, with all its complicated “relays”, for this ‘60 T-Bird.
Hi Greg, Happy to read "A fantastic car!" :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I didnt know u could get a Lincoln motor in those. What a nice car with that electric convertible. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Chuck, Happy to read you learned something from this video :-) I'm learning all the time and I find that to be so much fun. You're welcome, Lou
Great looking car Lou
Happy to you enjoy this one Jonathan :-)
Super nice car with a super nice host , thank you Dennis and Lou.
Hi Chris, High praise :-) You're welcome, Lou
Beautiful car! I never realized how many unique features the “square bird” had. I do believe that this body style with the four seats was the first personal luxury car. Dodge didn’t get one til the ‘66 Charger, and Chevy the ‘70 Monte Carlo.
Hi drippinglass, Happy to read you like the looks of this car :-) Thanks for sharing your knowledge too, Lou
I like the front grill and the round tail lights on the 60
Nice !
Dear Lou I was just thinking about either a 1968 or 1969 Thundetbird Suicide 4-Door Sedan when you come up with this 1960 Convertible! I sold my 1994 Mark 8 and am Driving a 2005 Cadillac STS in Light Grey with Light Grey Leather Interior with 3.6 V6 VVT Engine! They went back to Rear Wheel Drive in 2004 ! It has a ASTRO Roof in it! Body has no Rust they built these on the Corvette Chassis! I still talk to the Gentleman that Purchased my 1979 Phaeton 4-Door Sedan they Replaced a Oil Pump on the 425 V-8 as well as a Fuel Pump which I had replaced with a New one just a few weeks before it was sold in December of 2019! That 430 V8 adds 30% more to the Value of the Vehicle I remember seeing a Pink One for sale in a Magazine with that Optional Motor!

Beautiful car, ole Dennis has some nice stuff. Great video Lou!
Hi Gary, Dennis does.....and stay tuned, there will be more :-) Appreciate the kind words on the video, Lou
@@loucostabile Your welcome Lou!
Dennis sure has a real treasure here! Another piece of automotive history here boy! I have to say so far in Dennis's collection this one rates right up there in the top three of my favorites of his. I love love the color and that interior color and style just fits right in like a fancy living room type furniture. My lord and Ford back in those days sure had the best innovation on concealing their power tops no matter which one it is. I cannot imagine how long it took to devise the operation of those tops. I had a 352 in my 1965 Ford Country Sedan had a 4 bbl on it would not pass a gas station. That engine in this unit was spectacular and in the ride it looked extremely peppy! Dennis sure has awesome cars and toys. I have enjoyed seeing everything of his. The knowledge he has on each and every car or toy is amazing. My dad would sure like Dennis if he was living and would so enjoy his toys and cars. I am anxious to see what he has next if he has another one on the block to show. That ride along was really cool and that car is so very elegant looking. Just love the style of the car all the way around! Thanks Lou and Dennis for sharing this awesome unit!!!
HI Steve, Happy to read you appreciate this "piece of automotive history" :-) Glad you're along for this ride, and you're welcome, Lou
You gotta love the "square bird" Awesome! Thanks for posting Lou! Keep up the great posting of some real American auto "sculpture"!!!!
HI Gerry, Happy to read you enjoy this "real American auto "sculpture"!!!!" :-) You're welcome, Lou
Hi, Lou! Well, everyone in Dennis' family has had a '60 T-Bird, so it looks like they have all given credence to the slogan "world's most wanted car"! And now that we've been given the virtual ride, we all feel "special"! Thank you both for letting us all have fun, fun, fun!
P.S. 17:10: *Cough!* *Cough!* *Cough!*
Hi iswc27, Happy to have fun, fun, fun, until Dennis takes the T Bird away! Lou
The hard top is just as beautiful...
Hi David, Happy to read you enjoy the hard top, and here is a video of a hardtop for you to enjoy. Lou ruclips.net/video/f_M7EjH0oAk/видео.html
Thanks Lou and Dennis Impressive car. Dennis is right about "Ford knew what they were doing...) My dad was a Chevy man for the most part when I was a kid. I was unfamiliar with Ford's prior to the 1966 models. I was an adult when I bought a 1960 Ford Galaxie Town Sedan. I was amazed at how good the Ford body was as well as the doors etcetera. All the metal on the outside of the body was thicker and better built than the Chevrolets of that vintage. Ford had a very strong body. It's a shame that all cars, no matter how well they're built always rust away.
Hi discerningmind, Happy to share this "impressive car" with you :-) Rust has destroyed MANY a car :-( Lou
The best channel to feature fantastic vintage cars and their owners !
Hi Finn, I appreciate your kind words :-) Thank you, Lou

Beautiful, beautiful car. Love the colors! Love the interior! Love the dashboard! I also loved the 1961-1963 T-birds too. This is a perfect example of a 1960 T-Bird. Top-of-the-line Ford for 1960!! Love the 1955 Mercury in his yard too. Have you done a video for that one too?

My 61 Lincoln radiator is identical. That's not an overflow that's just the design (?).
Beautiful car!!!!
Hi Paul, Happy to read you have a 61 Lincoln. NICE! Lou
@15:27 the coolant reservoir tank. Owner is partially correct on why they came to fruition. Early days, cars had a vent tube out of the radiator. When the system pressure exceeded the radiator cap specifications, the pressure would set off a relief valve in the radiator cap which would allow the coolant mixture to simply dump out onto the road. This required the owner to routinely top off the radiator, it also polluted the environment. So regulations were passed, and the reservoir was implemented.
The reservoir simply collects that overflow. Also, as the vehicle cools, a vacuum effect occurs, which allows the cooling system to suck the overflow back into the radiator.

Awesome JJ T-bird Lou. Even though I am more a "Bullet Bird" fan, I really like this classic. (Also, used to have a Navy Blue 1988 back in the day (plain Jane car with the Taurus V6))
