    I have the same cooler and am in Minnesota. I put a 15 watt aquarium heater in mine!

      Perfect! Could you send me a picture? revolutionarychickenstore@gmail.com. I'd like to see how you handled the cord coming out.

    This was a very good demonstration, with one exception. It is very dangerous to allow your hair to hang loose when using a drill! My brother-in-law got the beard on his neck caught in his drill while working once, & nearly ripped his throat out because he leaned into it & the hair instantly wound if up right to where the skin was beginning to tear. He hadn't set the drill on auto, so thankfully it stopped when he released the trigger!
    Your hair is beautiful, but please don't risk hurting yourself. Also, a pair of safety glasses (goggles) should have been worn. Those little plastic slivers could have seriously hurt your eyes.
    Please don't think I'm criticizing you. I know it was just a small job, but everyone should put safety FIRST - even for small jobs! Thank you. PSD

    ❤❤❤❤❤❤ I just did this last night and it's fabulous!
    I only wish you'd sell the kits with more nipples....but I'm setting up 2 more and a small for the banties!

      Wonderful! I'm so glad it's working well for you. I sell these on Amazon as well, and the kits come with three nipples instead of two. They are a little more expensive since it's a larger kit. Thank you so much for your feedback!

    I love both your feeder and waterer ideas. I'm curious if it is hard to replace the nipples if they start to leak over time. Thanks. I don't want to purchase until I know what I'm getting into. Smiles!

      Hi Holly! Sorry it took me so long to reply. These nipples don't usually leak over time. I've heard that the vertical ones do, but I haven't had much of a problem with these. However, if they do leak, it would just be a matter of taking the old one out and twisting a new one in. You would need a little bit of water-proof silicone or even caulk to put around it. If you order the kit from my website, I include a sample of silicone for when you install it. Keep in mind that using the cooler does not keep the water from freezing in the winter. If you add some hot water, it may allow it to stay thawed a little longer, but it will still eventually freeze.

    Can I use a heater inside for the winter

    • @revolutionarychicken6251
      @revolutionarychicken6251  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, I've had a customer do this before. However, don't use an external heater for the cooler waterer (like the kind that I sell that goes underneath). It will melt the plastic of the cooler. For some reason, it won't melt the plastic of my bucket and barrel waterers though--their plastics' melting point must be higher.

    Does it hold up to freezing temps using five gallon bucket feeders now and having freezing problemd

      The cooler waterers aren't the best for freezing temps. They provide insulation, not heat. Generally the water inside the cooler does not freeze, but the nipples will. Adding hot water will get them to thaw, but that takes a little time and effort. I think the cooler waterer works best in the summer to keep the temps inside cool (especially by adding some ice).
      A customer of mine had an idea about her waterer in the winter that I thought was pretty smart. She purchased two regular five-gallon bucket waterers for the winter. She kept one in her garage and just changed it out with the frozen one each morning. Since chickens don't drink a lot in the winter, you don't have to have it very full. It's probably the least time-consuming solution I've heard of short of using a heater.

      You Can Always get the cheap aquarium heaters and drop them into your buckets. Plus the warmer water temp will help keep your coop warmer. we always move our food and water into the coop in the winter time, i swapped out the 5 gallon buckets for this style of water cooler. now it gets ice in the summer and a heater in the winter works amazing.

    When will this kit be available on your website??????

      My supplier for the silicone just stopped--so I've been hunting for another. I just placed an order for more sample silicone. I will update on when it should arrive. If you have silicone at home, I'm happy to open it up right now for you to order. Otherwise, my guess is a week? 12/10 or 12/11/23.
