My lawn care guy told me that there is nothing that selectively kills poi annua, that the best solution is to pull it up or wait for the summer heat to kill it.
I saw a video where a guy said the best thing you can do is skip fall over seeding and use a pre-emergent instead. That will prevent the seed from germinating. I may try that this fall depending on how my yard does in the summer heat. Other than that you can kill the whole yard and start over. I’m not willing to do that 😂😂
@@Papa_John757 The lawn guys put a fall and a spring pre-emergent on the lawn. I re-sodded my front and side yard with Zoysia last year and certainly don’t want to damage or kill that.
Ya I’d agree. The best thing to do is let it die in the winter and keep over seeding. A thick lawn is the best way to prevent weeds and grassy weeds in the first place.
@@Papa_John757killing the whole yard off and doing complete renovation doesn’t seem to work either. Thats a ton of work and it’ll end up popping up anyway.
I hate this crap. I sprayed Celsius WG on it a week ago and it’s definitely started to kill it off…it pulls up very easy now, but it’s loaded everywhere in my st Augustine yard. Filled up an entire Lowe’s bag of it. And i also used Barricade last fall…didn’t seem to do anything.
The difference between "suppression" and "control" is often a matter of whether the product met a benchmark for killing a certain percentage of weeds during testing and research. These benchmarks are usually upwards of 80%. So if a product meets this benchmark, it's labeled to "control" that specific weed. If not, it's labeled to "suppress" it.
Thanks for the video. Many of the photos are of poa trivialis, and thats going to much harder to kill. Lots of great info packed into this video!
