- I have owned this Line 6 POD XT LIVE for about 10 years. I really love it. It's simple and gives me the tones I have needed. Yes the new ones sound amazing like the HD500, HD500X, AX8, Helix, etc. BUT... they are a lot more money and I personally don't use these for anything but the "classic" tones.
This unit has done many live gigs and never let me down.. UNTIL NOW.... But, seriously, 10 years of regular use. Hell, even cars need brake pads and batteries.
This unit worked flawlessly at my last gig. Two days later it wouldn't power up. I decided to open it up and see what I could find.
I hope this video helps those who think their unit is dead forever.... This was an easy find and fix.
BY THE WAY... if you think these units don't sound great... go check out the You Tube videos from Lincoln Brewster.... and he lets you download the patches for free.... awesome sounding unit... DON'T GET RID OF IT TO KEEP UP WITH THE JONESES. You can buy these units cheap on the used market and enjoy them for years to come. You don't need to spend $2000 to get great tones.
Thanks for vid. And makes complete sense. Switches are only rated for a certain # of mechanical cycles. Cheers to you for identifying faulty component, fixing and sharing with us all. 👍😊
BTW, a switch is easily tested with a digital multimeter in resistance/continuity mode. You should be able to get a replacement switch for cheap if you desire or maybe get that switch working using deoxit contact cleaner, bringing unit back to original specs.

I have a regular old Pod xt (red bean) and it wont come on. After watching this video i ordered a new switch for a few bucks. We'll see if it works.

great unit... I actually just saw a video on You Tube comparing it side by side with a $2000 Ax8 .. I was surprised with the results. I think if you hooked some different CAB IR's with the XT LIve, you'd get some serious results. l want to try it with the MOOER RADAR cab IR pedal. You load in your own IR's
great unit.. rugged as all hell... Cab IR's were not a big thing 10 years ago. So, I want to actually buy a MOOER RADAR cab ir pedal... find some killer cab ir's and use them with the XT Live... I have a feeling it's going to sound great
Thanks for the vid, helped me open it up to look at the broken power socket. One thing to note, there are 2 other smaller screws that need to come out before you can remove the bottom, 1 top left and 1 top right as you look at the back of the board (where the sockets are)

Great info....only advice is I would replace that switch. only a few bucks for a rocker switch and then if needed, it functions as intended, or decide to sell, it's 'as normal'. I've found shortcuts cause problems for yourself later down the road...Just my 2 cents...good job!

Fk! I twisted the connectors off, joined the wires, and nothing lol now I need to buy new connectors AND find and fix the issue 😆....too good to be true. Thanks for the hope lol, glad yours worked though.

can you give a closer and detailed view on how you worked with the bypass?
it's really quite easy.. I unplugged both connectors from the switch then just joined the 2 connectors together with a small piece of wire.... think of it like you unplugged both connectors ... cut off the connectors and soldered both wires to each other..... same principle

Hello there! Thanks for showing your work. I was just wondering, if you have any idea about it. Might help me save my device. I got a Roland Boss ME 80 Guitar processor. Everything was working fine. Suddenly the Wah pedal stopped being activated. Do you have any idea, what could be the reason? If you know, that would be a great help. Thanks.

Mine is having an issue where the C and D buttons, Mod and Chorus, and the two right black buttons (gate and eq) don't work but everything else does. Any ideas?
hmmm .. never had to go that deep... sorry.. sounds like a section of the circuit board inside might be bad?.. I think there might be info on that you YOu Tube somewhere? I think the channel "Robs Fixit Shop" on You Tube has a pretty good video on fixing them?
Tried it still no help, any specific wire to use ?? How do I connect wire properly ? Just stick in then put electric tape?
think of it as just joining the 2 wires together without a switch... i just used a little piece of wire that fit in the conncetor

YES.. I actually bypassed the switch for about a month and then a buddy of mine had a brand new switch in his junk box so I put it in... BUT.. eBay has tons of them for sale. do a search on "SPST On/Off mini Black Square I/O Rocker Switch" .. tons will come up for you
Do you know how much current does the unit use? I have a PODxt and it consumes about 1.3A rms and the transformer gets hot very quickly
The power supply is rated 9V AC 2-amps. So apparently it must use up to 2 amps.

everybody, this can save you weeks of frustrations, this happened to me..... no matter how stupid it sounds.... are you using exactly the original line 6 power source A.C. adapter ??? not a regular-similar 9 V D.C. power source..... read carefully... the power source its the problem it happened to me... you need to be sure using the original A.C.power source (Not a regular D.C.) ...... iiiiiffff you use a regular 9V D.C. the input signal goes to ground and it does not process anything..... I was using a 9V D.C. and no signal and I spent 1 week doing all kind of updates and contacting techinal support for nothing... after I found my original power source and connected ...voila it works like a charm...I read many guys on internet having same problem and technical support not giving them any answer telling them "send them to us so we can check it up"..... and charging you for that..... use a 9V Altern Current.... not D.C....... do it now..... stop using a D.C. (D.C. did not damaged my unit but it just don't make it work
