ABOUT BLOOD IN THE LAND:
The world is ice and blood...
Amongst warring factions, blizzards, and mysterious monsters known as the Clawrix, two things never change: the fight to survive, and the cold that comes with it. So it’s fight or freeze, at least that’s what our protagonists believe - a stoic, deadly wanderer and a stubborn girl on a world changing mission.
As one of the most powerful factions unveils a new weapon, it’s up to these two unlikely allies to traverse the land and put a stop to the faction’s sinister goals.

i’m still in the super early planning stages of my story. i’m talking sketches and endless notes stage 😭 but this was so fun to watch! one of my fav “first graphic novel” videos for sure 🤝🔥
love to hear it! keep it going!
Finding your trailers was what initially caught my attention to your series and I think they were pretty well done! Respect to you for all the hard work, must be incredible to finally be able to hold it in your hand!
thank you! first time holding that book was unmatched
I love to see how others are tackling self-publishing and crowdfunding! I am also on a similar journey. Congrats on completing your first book! That feeling must be so awesome!
thank you!
Congrats on making your first graphic novel! I'm working on my first as well and this video is inspiring
I love the Calvin & Hobbes poster!
It's really cool how you show your process in this very transparent way! But the lasso tool... :D ! Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Congrats on publishing your first graphic novel!! This video has been incredibly inspiring as someone who recently had an art epiphany that I desire to tell stories instead of create static standalone art pieces. It’s been fun to research about comics but seeing this video about your experience in telling your story YOUR way is very moving. Thank you for sharing your process!
glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏼
congratulation..holding your own graphic novel is a well bliss. all the best for future
Great video! Interesting to hear how deep the behind-the-scenes for Blood in the Land was during development. Gotta make time for a reread soon 👀
Starting my own comic too. Really like this bid
Awesome video!!! I'm currently in pre-production with over 150 pages of concept sketches, and finding these videos excited me to keep going. It's nice seeing new creators who are passionate share knowledge!
Good stuff man. Well done. Honest stuff. Gonna purchase and support.
Legend!
Hey Ethan! Bravo!
thanks!
I just colour with the brush tool... like a kid doing a colouring book..
if it ain't broke ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
the paint bucket way you did is super fast and easy. great idea.
That marketing step is proving to be a Nightmare, but A lot of this is great info.
This video was super informative and helpful! I’m a small time content creator and have had a urge to write an animated series forever. As the years progressed, I decided a graphic novel/comic might be a more attainable goal so I really relate to your story! I’m still a long way from making that a reality but stories like yours make it seem alot more possible. I’ll have to check your book out soon and I’ll comment once I’ve done it! Thank you man, got my sub!
thank you im glad you could relate to this, looking forward to your comic debut🔥
Nice work fellah
Looks great
😅 I color that way too. It’s all good. Congratulations on finishing your graphic novel. Keep smiling
ive watched this like 3 times now because your editing and personality are hilarious! youre gonna get big one day and im glad to be here now 😌
anyways the advice is so helpful and i actually want to buy this book so bad, i love apocalyptic settings and the gruffy man, kid duo 😩
thank you for the kind words! hope this apocalyptic comic is right up your alley!
🔥🔥 proud of you bruh!
Thanks a lot for the tips
reading now! this is great
love it! thanks for the support
Great video, very good insight in how you put together your graphic novel. Very helpful information as I to just finish my first comic, just being a 20page comic issue though. My comic is called Twister: A New Awakening issue #1, and I am not just figuring out how to market and promote. If you could make a video on your process or things you have used to market you graphic novel would be so much helpful. I will for sure check out your graphic novel, the story sound very interesting.
love this! and a video about my comic marketing is in the works
@@crownobsidian Sweet, I look forward to seeing it.
5:38 same...though i torture myself further, i don't use the paint bucket and hand colour it all in like a 🤡
the haters cant stand that we color by hand
Wright it, draw it, colour it 🤣 aw cool thanks for explaing your very simple process. Good luck with further content making
Thanks
Nice !!!
Great stuff! I think more realistic backgrounds and characters would be good if you’re trying to convey a more sinister feel, but the story is awesome!! Well done
appreciate it!
I dont you the lasso tool to color either.
Good Lord! Gonna soak this up now!
That's amazing! How long did it take you to finish drawing the comic?
the pandemic gave me lots of free time so i was able to do it all in just under a year
I’m at the beginning of writing my graphic novel. Well almost done with my story. But I gotta know if you’ve made any money selling your comic yet?
congratz! it takes some time at the beginning, but I've personally noticed an increase in traffic/readers thanks to content marketing and making these videos
I use Final Cut Pro
Oh my god, paint bucket tool to color everything is insanely annoying. I applaud you for making that your primary method. Congrats on your comic!
I have a question: I'm creating a graphic novel in Clip Studio Paint. When I'm done with it, it'll roughly be around 200 pages.
How do you save or work on a file that has so many pages without slowing the program down?
Do you only do a certain number of pages with multiple files and then combine them all using a different program?
i use photoshop and each page is its own file, PS has an option to combine files into a PDF which i then touch up on adobe acrobat for page numbers, sizing, etc
What program do you suggest drawing comics on?
ive only used photoshop
What painting program are you using?
i do everything on photoshop
Ok thank’s
Seething....
.....LIVid... lol, whatever works!!
What shit.
I’m in my last year of uni and I should be writing my dissertation and working on my major design project but instead I got HIT with inspiration for a graphic novel and it’s all I can do and think about 🥲 Going to watch all your videos on this (and read the book)
Also I’m studying design and illustration so I use photoshop a lot and honestly just use it how you want (but getting the aspect ratios wrong- that’s the real crime)
hell ya lean into that inspiration (your professor will understand)
