it may have been the most brutal campaign the US has ever took part in, but let's not get ahead of ourselves, the Eastern front was way more brutal than the western front or the pacific theater combined
9,388 US, soliders are bried at Normandy... 5 june 2024 and 80 years later, the memories of that day and hte legends of many are still echoing in our ears . Stand up America.
@@wythetrumpet6419 There are 57,939 names on The Wall. 168 of them were my friends. I worked The Wall night shift for 6 months shortly after it opened. Fly That Flag!
Very compelling opening theme, for the Then and Now, but there's that Speilberg sameness. Without a compelling development, bring on the percussion and subterranean bass. Victory at Sea is still the gold standard imo.
I a with you . that was over fifty years ago. I have both recordings of Victory at Sea and love them. I just it's a sign of our times. Beneath the Southern Cross is one of my favorite 's I remember boot camp and watching the films and our instructor saying prepare for tears! that was 1968, hope this makes sense!
But look who composed Victory at Sea. A composer who had decades of great hits on Broadway and in other venues. Both Rogers and Zimmer should be applauded for their great music. Both are equal in greatness. Saw Victory at Sea eons ago and still feel that it is fantastic. By the same token Zimmer's music captivates and equals or exceeds most other composers today. Honor is a music that reaches into my heart for all the friends I have lost to war, and there are many.

This series drives home the sacrifice that our soldiers made in the most brutal theatre of operations of WW2.
the most brutal operations was on the russian side. us battles was nothing compared to the ussr
