@@TercesGarret The instructions on the tombstones sadly are not a sufficient replacement for a proper tutorial. He's not the first player to be overwhelmed with all the new controls and as a result forgetting some of the stuff mentioned on the tombstone right away.

Ocarina never told you to use cuckoos to fly and yet everyone figured it out. It's this mentality that brings kids to think N64 games are broken and not masterpieces.
It's really refreshing to follow someone playing Majora's mask and that understands how the game work. You often have good instinct, and you take notes. It's a bit annoying to see people not paying attention, trying stupid things without thinking for a minute, not rebooting time when they make progress and then complaining it's hard and complicated. You're living the true MM experience, and I'm happy for you. My favorite Zelda game, and one of my favorite games. Stay strong, weird stuff keep coming. ^^
This is why I love watching people play OoT and MM blind. Some people come up with some genius alternatives. I had the guide book as a child because I was too dumb to figure out how to get out of the compass room in the Deku Tree. So I have zero latitude to judge 🤣 but the guide book also kind of stunted my experimentation because it told me the intended ways to beat enemies. Like use the boomerang on the electric jellyfishes, avoid it if you don't have it yet. But 20 years later I see that people use Deku nuts and are able to kill them easily. One girl tried to use Dins Fire and it kills them all easily. Mind blown.

Today on things I didn't know about MM. That you can shock Gyorg while he jumps over you with the zora shield (makes sense, just never thought to try).
Something you need to know that the game doesn't tell you. The Spider house at the beach is only worth doing on day 1; after that the reward you get is worse & not permanent.
dungeons are a step above from ocarina of time and some people find them a bit too complex in the end. I think they are absolutly brilliants with each of their central mechanic, despite developping the game in a single year (and overworking sadly) they did an incredible job

I think the Gekko fight was a lot harder for you because you can upgrade your sword by this point in the game and you fought it with your base form sword.
Still not truly using the shield to its full potential but I think it also conflicts a bit with his fear of spending too much magic. Solid job at getting all the faeries again and ticking another few side quests of the list!
The comment section was screaming for him to use the zora shield and even after the penny dropped, he still hardly used it. Made the boss fight more difficult than it should be
the gorman mask is useless. you get some reactions from his siblings, but that's it. it also prevents them from attacking the milk transport if you put it on before talking to cremia in the cart, but since you need to protect the transport to get the mask to get into the milk bar this is also kinda pointless.
You somehow hid your minimap. Press one of the Dpad directions to cycle through mini map display options. Also, congratulations on remembering the Zora shield! It was painful watching you faceplant into every skeleton fish in existence! You can use the shield while fast swimming and it destroys everything. It's also how you're intended to beat the Sea snakes but you somehow found another way!!!

As a long time Zelda fan, I love seeing you discover your way through the games! Following the perspective of a new player is interesting, and all the more so because you seem to enjoy it! People nitpick on the few things you forget, or haven't gotten around to do yet, but you are doing really well for a blind playthrough I started my Zelda journey with Ocarina of Time on my dad’s N64 when I was very young, I do not remember a time when I didn't know Zelda, I’m glad RUclips recommended me your OoT videos, I’ll keep watching if you decide to continue with the rest of the series About today’s episode, I recall the other temples in Majora’s Mask well enough but for some reason I had completely forgotten what the inside of this temple looked like, completely erased from my memory, except for the boss x) Good luck on getting all the masks, you seem well on your way to succeed!
I played and beaten Majora's mask more times than I could count. I've never once thought about going back to see the Zoras. Didn't even know they do a rehearsal!! Guess every time I've beaten the boss I was just done with that freaking place 😂
Commenting this right after the Gekko fight so apologies if you realize it later in the video, but remember jump attacks do double damage. Helpful when you have limited chances to deal damage like that fight.
With how Agile the Gekko was it wasn't worth it since youd miss more than hit. Of course you can get it done but just hitting and do some damage is better than not
Time for Great Bay Temple 2: Electric Boogaloo! This time with added shield action. As a bonus package, we are also showing Gekko 2: Slimepocalypse! You by no means did anything wrong in that Gekko fight, but you *did* do it quite sub-optimally. Not that it remotely matters in the end. Forge on! Play the game organically! The Ice Arrows are quite a bit more handy in this game than they were in OoT, that's for sure. Zora Linkau, being an adult, can reach places Link, being a child, cannot... imagine that! Not calling you out mind you, after all, you got there in the end. Stray Fairies: GET! Now to find their home... Here fishy fishy fishy... dang, that's a bigg'un! Gyorg is, as far as I'm aware the most despised boss of Majora's Mask which, once again, I do not quite agree with. Sure it can be annoying, but the overall concept actually allows you to really use the Zora Mask to its fullest. So it is quite good that you figured out the shield this episode, it is one of the safest ways of doing this. Actually diving into the water and trying to fight Gyorg in its own element can be quite interesting. But it is certainly not for the faint of heart. Of course it still eats you after spitting out babies... why wouldn't it? Nicely fought! You got into a rhythm there at the end! Three down... one to go!
That Gekko fight was such a PAIN for me as a kid. I actually said “nope, too early” lol. The timing has been drilled into my head ever since fighting this guy as a kid. I would highly suggest going back to the mountain village and upgrading your sword!
Favorite MM playthrough hands down. You know you are absolutely crushing it if overlooking the shield lightning is a big deal. **Cries in not making it passed the first day**

I like to beat the boss by first stunning it by swimming to its eye with the zora shield. That way I don't need to get out of the water all the time. I found out this method accidentally one day. Actually you did it too once, but apparently didn't notice it. By the way, if you like going through rings, you should try Superman 64.... or on second thought, stay away from that game. The Ballad Of The Windfish is from Link's Awakening, which is another legendary Zelda game that I highly recommend.
@@Ari19904it looks amazing for N64. Ocarina is so much plainer and stiffer, but MM is full of color, textures, vibrant animation, and overall stellar art direction - not just in comparison to OoT either, but N64 in general. Gyorg just looks kinda shitty lol

I first fought him exclusively on that platform because I *refused* to be in the water with him. 58:55 The other reason I hate Gyorg was the first time I fought him I beat him in the final hour of the final day, with barely enough seconds to go get the reward from the Great Fairy before saving with the Song of Time. It was So. Stressful. 1:10:19 Congrats on getting enhanced defense! This time, it's actually useful since you get it far before the middle of the final dungeon, haha. 1:14:34 Ah yes. The beavers. I remember tearing my hair out over this one, lol. 1:28:35 I think that's part of the reason why the Kafei/Anju quest is so beloved. It's pretty easy to catch glimpses of it starting from the very first cycle, and to follow it quite a ways through on subsequent cycles, but it ends up being such a late game beast to complete... it feels like it was with you the whole way. Speaking of late game beasts, only a few masks and a quarter of the map left to go!
Great Bay Temple was my least favorite place in MM as a kid. The map and the layout were confusing for a time. But now that I'm older, it really isn't that bad. Gyorg is probably the hardest boss in the game, just because he's always going to do a ton of damage if you get caught in his mouth. The Great Fairy reward for Great Bay definitely helps against him. I kind of wish they had made Gyorg like they did in Wind Waker, where it was more shark-like in appearance. You're doing great Mapo!
It’s probably my second favorite Temple. For a water temple, it’s considerably easier to navigate than others, while also being quite complex. The see-saw area at the end is one of my favorite rooms in this game.
Oh thank god, you figured out the shield before the boss fight! Nice job. Game does a HORRIBLE job of telling you about it but its pretty much necessary in the temple boss. When I was a kid I beat him without it but it was...long and painful lol.

Man I am so glad you are playing these. I think these are the types of games I'd much rather watch than play. I tried over this weekend with MM and the controls plus the camera made me want to tear my hair out. As someone who started gaming just after these came out I appreciate what they did for games, but I just don't think I'll ever enjoy actually playing them. I just get too mad too quickly at everything and I'm also not someone who usually enjoys solving puzzles. Funny, because I love and respect that you have to figure so much out for yourself, and one of my favorite games of all time (monster hunter dos) is similar in the way that it tells you nothing. Might try windwaker on my own and see if it infuriates me less. These are my first times trying to play zelda games as well.
As for the show still being canceled, it's because Madame Aroma told Toto, the band doesn't know apparently. The show is canceled town-wise, not band-wise. So it remains canceled.
The last time I played this temple on my switch, I had just gotten the last fairy and was right outside the boss door when I went to make a save point, but accidentally loaded an old save point from right before I started the temple. Took a rage dump, came back, did it all over again, fairies and everything. Infuriating.
I knew this would happen. This is what I don't like about Mapo using save states. He just left the game in that part, closed it, came back the next day, did some extra management and then he restarted the loop, very convenient isn't it?. He supposedly picked this version to have the "original" experience, he should have just picked the 3DS version or the PC port to have all that convenience, and even in then, saving in those versions is not as powerful as a save state in an emulator. The whole point of Majora's Mask is time management in relation to your real life time. The point is to plan your sessions and make the most out of each loop. The fact that you can just quit the game whenever and come back the next day fresh, defeats the whole purpose of the game. He wanted to have the original experience?, well this ain't it. You have to wrap up everything you want to do in a given loop and save the game in the intended way, either by playing the song of time or seeking the nearest Owl Statue.
I know I'm not spoiling anything... But you owe it to yourself to upgrade your sword at the smithy, but you need gold dust from the goron race on the first day for a permanent upgrade on your sword by the third day, and its protected by the loop so it stays with you

Not spoilers, but a good tip imho that soon enough you'll understand: Avoid using that certain mask before your first time with the final fight. Any challenge will be completely removed in the end. Basically, do it your second time around or this game will end very ... anticlimactic 😐. That is all
Possible spoilers... I thought you meant there was an interaction with the Troupe Leader's Mask and Majora where it would do something weird like just make Majora not want to fight.

Coolest understated use of the zora barrier is being able to escape from grabs. It doesn't seem like many people realize it can do that.

Fair to say, as he did know you could upgrade the sword.
And was not doing jump attacks for double damage. He's doing one sixth of potential damage per attack, but he persevered!

Gyorg is, as far as I'm aware the most despised boss of Majora's Mask which, once again, I do not quite agree with. Sure it can be annoying, but the overall concept actually allows you to really use the Zora Mask to its fullest. So it is quite good that you figured out the shield this episode, it is one of the safest ways of doing this.
Actually diving into the water and trying to fight Gyorg in its own element can be quite interesting. But it is certainly not for the faint of heart.
Of course it still eats you after spitting out babies... why wouldn't it?

That Gekko fight was such a PAIN for me as a kid. I actually said “nope, too early” lol. The timing has been drilled into my head ever since fighting this guy as a kid. I would highly suggest going back to the mountain village and upgrading your sword!

I like to beat the boss by first stunning it by swimming to its eye with the zora shield. That way I don't need to get out of the water all the time. I found out this method accidentally one day. Actually you did it too once, but apparently didn't notice it.
By the way, if you like going through rings, you should try Superman 64.... or on second thought, stay away from that game.
The Ballad Of The Windfish is from Link's Awakening, which is another legendary Zelda game that I highly recommend.

@@Ari19904it looks amazing for N64. Ocarina is so much plainer and stiffer, but MM is full of color, textures, vibrant animation, and overall stellar art direction - not just in comparison to OoT either, but N64 in general. Gyorg just looks kinda shitty lol
At least Gyorg is much-improved in the 3DS version, with an updated appearance and better battle mechanics.

58:55 The other reason I hate Gyorg was the first time I fought him I beat him in the final hour of the final day, with barely enough seconds to go get the reward from the Great Fairy before saving with the Song of Time. It was So. Stressful.

1:28:35 I think that's part of the reason why the Kafei/Anju quest is so beloved. It's pretty easy to catch glimpses of it starting from the very first cycle, and to follow it quite a ways through on subsequent cycles, but it ends up being such a late game beast to complete... it feels like it was with you the whole way.
Speaking of late game beasts, only a few masks and a quarter of the map left to go!

Great Bay Temple was my least favorite place in MM as a kid. The map and the layout were confusing for a time. But now that I'm older, it really isn't that bad. Gyorg is probably the hardest boss in the game, just because he's always going to do a ton of damage if you get caught in his mouth. The Great Fairy reward for Great Bay definitely helps against him. I kind of wish they had made Gyorg like they did in Wind Waker, where it was more shark-like in appearance. You're doing great Mapo!
It’s probably my second favorite Temple. For a water temple, it’s considerably easier to navigate than others, while also being quite complex. The see-saw area at the end is one of my favorite rooms in this game.

Game does a HORRIBLE job of telling you about it but its pretty much necessary in the temple boss. When I was a kid I beat him without it but it was...long and painful lol.
It tells you about it in the Zora tutorial aka Mikau's grave. He read it out loud but must have just immediately forgotten about it lol

Man I am so glad you are playing these. I think these are the types of games I'd much rather watch than play. I tried over this weekend with MM and the controls plus the camera made me want to tear my hair out. As someone who started gaming just after these came out I appreciate what they did for games, but I just don't think I'll ever enjoy actually playing them. I just get too mad too quickly at everything and I'm also not someone who usually enjoys solving puzzles. Funny, because I love and respect that you have to figure so much out for yourself, and one of my favorite games of all time (monster hunter dos) is similar in the way that it tells you nothing.
Might try windwaker on my own and see if it infuriates me less. These are my first times trying to play zelda games as well.
Next is my favorite dungeon in the franchise! Can't wait.

Turns out the band's personal issues take a bit of a backseat when the moon is about to crash down on everyone.
Lotta cuts in this one, but that's understandable for water temple shenanigans. It seemed like you beat the boss reasonably fast.
The last time I played this temple on my switch, I had just gotten the last fairy and was right outside the boss door when I went to make a save point, but accidentally loaded an old save point from right before I started the temple. Took a rage dump, came back, did it all over again, fairies and everything. Infuriating.

I knew this would happen. This is what I don't like about Mapo using save states. He just left the game in that part, closed it, came back the next day, did some extra management and then he restarted the loop, very convenient isn't it?. He supposedly picked this version to have the "original" experience, he should have just picked the 3DS version or the PC port to have all that convenience, and even in then, saving in those versions is not as powerful as a save state in an emulator.
The whole point of Majora's Mask is time management in relation to your real life time. The point is to plan your sessions and make the most out of each loop. The fact that you can just quit the game whenever and come back the next day fresh, defeats the whole purpose of the game. He wanted to have the original experience?, well this ain't it. You have to wrap up everything you want to do in a given loop and save the game in the intended way, either by playing the song of time or seeking the nearest Owl Statue.

I forgot how different gyorg is to fight in the original 64 version. The 3ds one has an entire 2nd fase with seamines.
I know I'm not spoiling anything... But you owe it to yourself to upgrade your sword at the smithy, but you need gold dust from the goron race on the first day for a permanent upgrade on your sword by the third day, and its protected by the loop so it stays with you

Not spoilers, but a good tip imho that soon enough you'll understand: Avoid using that certain mask before your first time with the final fight. Any challenge will be completely removed in the end. Basically, do it your second time around or this game will end very ... anticlimactic 😐. That is all
