Yessss hack squat!!! The first time I tried this from your plan I never knew what it was lol. I then found it in my gym and BOY WAS IT A KILLER! Thanks again Eugene for the video !
Hacksquat-variation and legpress are currently my 2 mains. Dropset of death on legpress is always fun, dropping one plate all the way down to 1 plate. Makes you appreciate air and be able to breath normal. Another ”fun” quadkiller is picking a song, around 4min long, and then doing 1 set of leg extensions until the song ends. 1 minute is easy, the last 3 are pure pain.
It's great to mix it up with regular barbell squats and other assisted squats, like the hack squat machine. One issue I've had personally, is using machines too much, then ending up with a strength imbalance between by legs and core/back. I got to a point where my back and core would tire much faster than my legs, which began to mess up my barbell squat technique. By the 3rd set I would start to slouch, but my legs would still be O.K.
-lowbar squats (i love powerlifting) -heel elevated ssb squats -reverse banded hack squats (my gym has the arsenal strength reloaded hack squat) -leg press (cybex squat press specifically) -leg extensions i dont do all of these in one session but i love all of them and cycle them in and out, i always end leg days with leg extensions tho

Thank you for this Eugene ❤ I'm 6'2 and 323 pounds (was 330 2 months ago so I must be doing something right lol). I just started the gym and I was trying the barbell squat, I got 3 sets of 5 for 50 kg and could really feel the burn however, it's just so awkward positioning myself under the bar, my legs are quite long compared to my torso so I found myself tilting. I was walking around the gym and saw the hacksqaut machine and thought to give it a go, and although it was very new to me, it felt so much safer. I'll keep using it as my main quad developer from now on, along with the leg press and the splits. Hope you're keeping well brother, and thank you again.
Great video! I have been doing Squats for leg growth but my lower back and knee become too painful to continue. These are great alternatives, please show more for a full leg day. Much thanks
This is exactly ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUHHotQRjIQnfuxEeVotlkHVYWH0DXZoS what I needed to get some exercise while I'm stuck at my desk all day. It's just the right size. Only downsides are that the right oeddale unscrews itself while I use it and increasing the tension causes it to squeak while in use. Both are minor issues that aren't that important to me. So I give it 5 stars.

Hey Eugene, thank you for the awesome content as usual. Your channel is pretty much the only place I turn to these days when I'm actually trying to learn something new on the topic - and I did - regarding the aspect of the difference in hip flexion on the rear leg when doing split squats. You brought up an awesome point there. I totally agree with you on your preference for the hack squat. However, I am also a big fan of elevated heel squats; since with the right amount of elevation, you can get that super effective straight torso setup even with a barbell. I implement all three.
Today i used what i learned abou legs training in this chanel. For the first time i did squads for 5 sets with absolute no lower back pain. The top set was with 80kg x5 and i felt strong. Thank you.
Bulgarian split squats and elevated "pistol" squats are actually my fav ones for the legs. But I've to say that the reverse nordic curls are pure fire for the quads!!!! Really nice content like always Eugene, thanks for another great video🙏🏽❤️
What a great video Eugene, I’m coming off of a spinal fusion surgery I just had done eight months ago, and although I’ve been training hard as a bodybuilder for 26 years I have not been able to train legs for 10 years and I have needed the spinal fusion for almost 18 years now. And now that I’ve had my spinal fusion and recovering I’m looking forward to engaging my legs in some training again. Question, is that your personal training facility seen the videos? Take a look at some of my videos maybe there’s something we can collaborate on sometime and you can help get my legs caught up to my upper body ;) Adam
I love doing squats and split squats. But I have a postural problem. I have knock knees and it's hindering me from training optimally since I started training. Please hep me fix it if you can sir. 🙏 . I know nobody asks this, but most people are lucky and I am not. I want to be my best. Please make a video on knock knees fix or knee valgus fix. It will be of a great help.
Hey coach, is there anything one can do to alleviate knee pain when doing the hack squat? Knee sleeves help a bit, but it still feels like my patella wants to pop off. Many thanks!
I'm recently back to the gym after some health issues, barbell back squats are always a challenge on my lower back due to having degenerative discs in my lower back. Excellent vid showing the pressures and how hack squats take a lot off the lower back. I'll definitely be doing both of these on leg day. I just need something to stop my knees sounding like a bowl of rice crispies as I get to a 90 degree bend in the knee :)
@@coacheugeneteo thank you. And and in answer to your original question I always do barbell squats, but will be changing those. And as a long term martial artist, I use horse stance as a finished. For those who don't know what that is, it is like an extra wide squat, held at 90 degrees or there abouts. I do this for a 2 minute hold and am building up the weight I am holding so am doing 20kg for the 2 mins now. Traditionally horse stance is just body weight. But adding the barbell is a great finisher!
Yeh I had that problem too. I found time under tension training helped a great deal. Concentrating on glutes helped, dead lifts, hip thrusts. But I still love those BSSquats. The limiting factor for me turned out to be ankle mobility. Being aware of how it was throwing my form off and stretching to get every bit of flexibility out of them I could combined get with TUTT for better control I got a good degree of improvement.
First and foremost, love the content. Your analysis is as sound as your voice is soothing. As far as favorites. I'd have to say both the high bar squat and hack squat. The high bar for strength, the Platz style hack to sculpt. That said, the Bulgarian split squat is the one leg exercise I hate. Which means it must be the best
great video !! good to see both the hack squat and bulgarian split squats getting the kudos they deserve...barbell squats aren't for everyone and you can still grow without them !!
I have a love hate relationship with bulgarian split squats, I'm sure everyone does but they are always somewhere in my training plan. On the hack squat, whenever I've done them I always feel like I am pushing back rather than up and I can't put much weight on due to my strength being compromised. Any ideas why this could be?
This is interesting. I normally do barbell squats at home because I don’t like squating at the gym but I’m going to start adding in the smith machine here and there because I do agree that barbell squats can be taxing on the lower back sometimes. I don’t have access to a hack squat machine so that sucks. I’ve added Bulgarian split squats but had to practice a lot at first but man are they hard to do but super effective. I’d love to hear some of your top upper body exercises. Thanks for the tips!!!!

Reverse lunges and Bulgarian Split Squats did the most for my quads. I tried one time the deah drop-set, it was my first and last time doing it.
Hahahahhaha yess
great video !! good to see both the hack squat and bulgarian split squats getting the kudos they deserve...barbell squats aren't for everyone and you can still grow without them !!
Hey Eugene,
How many exercises would you uses for a “upper day” on a 3 day upper/lower rotation?
I don't know? It depends !
eugene teo just as like a general guideline for someone wanting to pack on muscle.
I subscribed you the moment I saw that you use chapters for em vids. Loving your content thus far Eugene.
Can't say for sure. It could be your foot placement though as your body is fighting position. Or it could just be a shit machine.
Excellent information. Thank you!
Thank you p
Can you do the second technique at home tho? Or do you need that machine for back leg?
Yes you can do it using a bench or anything similar
Amazing video yet again Eugene!!
Love them!! Please keep the great content coming...
Thank you
Apart from squats, lunges and leg presses, I really like doing a Smith machine split squat on an elevated platform for that extra juicy depth
Nice!!
I like your explanations. Im a truck driver, I have no idea how to consistently lift. One day Ill figure it out. For now, Ill learn
Excellent! Check my other vids for upper body
Great information Theo! You have a calming voice.
I took my girlfriend through a bulgarian split squat dropset of death when she'd never really done failure training before it was hilarious
😂😂😂 savage
How's single life so far?
Never seen a right hand doing split squats.
Hahahaha that is hilarious
One of the best channels!
Hack squat ruins my low back just as much as squats. Yes I keep my back flat and have worked with a couple of decent coaches.
Damn. Not for you then!
Dont go so low. Assisted pistol squat. Frog jumps. Iso wall hack squat.
This channel and coach is real content
I'm not sure what's more impressive, your hair or your legs lol
Haha thank you
Absolutely love this series!!
Thank you
