Being able to provide and needing/wanting to provide are two different things, if someone's financial status depends on you (stay-at-home partner etc. ) then yeah you need to provide. But I'm not paying for everything for a grown woman who makes her money. I will always pay for the dates, I'll send her money randomly so she can spoil herself, I'll buy gifts, but I'm not paying for a grown womans every need that she can provide and I wouldn't be dating someone who can't provide themselves anyway. No matter the gender, expecting and/or needing someone to provide for you going into a relationship is the worst thing you can do to yourself. By any means always get yourself a partner that can provide no matter the gender but don't forget that it is a relationship not a charity fund. Don't expect to be provided for, be happy when you are. Also, look at your own past partners and imagine you provided them with everything and where you would be financially now over relationships that didn't work out. If your partner, no matter the gender, likes to provide you with everything and is okay with it then awesome, but in this day and age still debating over this while simultaneously fighting against gender norms is literally shooting yourself in the foot. Roles should be assigned to people, not genders. I like paying for stuff because that's how I like it, I like doing it and I am comfortable enough to do it, not because I am a man but because that's just who I am. Reducing a person to a gender seems so unreasonable and frankly kinda dumb to me, especially in our generation.
I honestly think there’s some honesty in what Jalan said. In today’s society, there are women who would prefer to be 50/50 and have a sense of independence in a relationship. Being with a provider man puts you in a position of dependency which nowadays is really difficult because man an untrustworthy,disloyal and overall not what a provider man really embodies. At the same time I get the appeal of a provider man as biblically, that’s what man are, providers. I think people aren’t actually listening to what Jalan is saying and are pinning him as someone who is dependent on his girlfriend when we literally see him provide and care for her😂😂 . Being a provider doesn’t necessarily mean paying for everything and having a woman at home doing home work.
