OLD SCHOOL BEEF POT ROAST/SUNDAY DINNER RECIPE IDEAS SEGMENT

- OLD SCHOOL SMOTHERED POT ROAST
This is a simple awesome dish
You can eat them with white rice or mashed potatoes
Very yummy and wholesome
Recipe
5lbs beef shoulder
2 tablespoons tomato paste(optional)
1 cup pearl onions
1 cup large chopped celery
1 cup frozen English peas( optional)
1 cup baby carrots or sliced carrots
5 ea small Yukon gold potatoes quartered
Salt and pepper
1 quart water or old school beef stock
Season beef with salt and pepper
brown in skillet with vegetable oil
After browning add beef to roasting pot and add carrot and celery to pot
cook for 5 minutes
add tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes
Add 3 tablespoons flour to remaining oil in skillet and brown slightly
Add 1 quart of water or beef stock to skillet and cook for an additional 5 minutes
Add remaining vegetables and potatoes
Add beef back to pot
Place in 350 degree oven and cook for 2- 3 hours
ENJOY OVER WHITE RICE OR MASHED POTATOES

This was Sunday dinner every Sunday when I was growing up. MaMa would put it all together and put it in the oven before Church . When we got home from Church about noon we would change clothes and sit down for dinner. We had the leftovers for Supper and that gave MaMa a little break on Sunday evening. Thanks for more memories.

Chef, the pot roast meal looks delicious. I have not cooked one in a long time. We usually cook it with no veggies in it, collards, and mashed potatoes.Whenever my aunt cooked rice or potatoes, she did not cook bread. I like a slice of cornbread with mine.It would go good today . A little chilly here. looks so Hearty. Something to warm the soul.
