This is laughable if it wasn't so serious. Very bizarre.
You have the right to freedom of speech, provided you don't actually USE it.
Private universities have to appease whoever funds them.
Unfortunately, that is true.

Thought America was all about freedom of speech and right to protest.
1st amendment. Free expression of free speech.....
Well as long as the corporate media distracts its viewers with the two minutes of hate, people will not notice their freedoms being taken away
That only applies to government restrictions on free speech. Private organizations and owners are under no such obligation.
Except for Texas, Mississippi, and whichever other state is in that federal court district, where now any criminal act at a gathering will result in charges against organizers, regardless of whether the organizers actively and clearly condemned such things. So, now, in those three states, if a Klanman throws a rock and hits a cop while counter-protesting at a Black Lives Matter rally, then BLM organizers get charged.
So the ability to gather peacably has been ended in those states, now that the Supreme Court left that ruling standing, despite it being blatantly absurd.

Does Columbia not remember its history?
Columbia was ideologically on the wrong side in 1968 as they are now.
This reminds me of a very similar situation that occurred in Quebec (Canada) in june 2012.
Amir Khadir was a provincial elected official of the opposition and the leader of a his party, named Québec Solidaire.
He was becoming quite popular for his social democrat views and support of the working class.
At the time, he had recently become a very vocal supporter of the Boycott of Israeli corporations.
Here is what they did to shut him up and make him resigned.
At the time there were huge student protest across the province concerning the student financial aid program.
They arrested his daughter for being part, of a group of student protester that had did _property damages_ at a college, at a university and at the local office of the education minister during the protests.
His daughter later pleaded guilty and then obtained an unconditional absolution.
That's how Zionists get rid of their political enemies when surprisingly, they are not corrupt or don't have any sexual secrets like most politicians. They go after their family.
It was a two for one for the government of the moment. They got rid of someone dangerous to their next re-election while also satisfying the Zionists interests.
I'm sure you will see many Republicans calling for Ilhan Omar's resignation in the following hours.

The policy of removal for students is outlined on Columbia's website. Being young and very intelligent people I know that they could have easily read the policy and followed directions to keep themselves from being removed from the university. When you assume that you are above the rules outlined by a private institution, you have to accept responsibility that you could face protentional punishment, including and not limited to suspension and even expulsion after numerous warning, both verbal and written. It doesn't matter who your parents are and what questions were asked during a hearing, everyone need to be treated equality and that includes during protests, but students need to also remember that the property of the school is private and unlike on public property they set the rules and they have to be followed. Free speech is guaranteed by the constitution but it doesn't say that it isn't without risk.
